Ordeal of the African Albino

When tongues arise to condemn racism
None speaks the ordeal of the African albino being
Defined by different views of ethnical beliefs
Discriminated by his brothers for lacking melanin

He is but subjected to verbal condemnation
With chants of mockery upon his head
Discriminated by hypocrites who speak against discrimination
Begging love and acceptance from his fellow man

Have not many mocked his blurred eyesight?
And taunted his nystagmus as he squints in the sun?
Have not many tongues wagged in ignorance?
Spitting forth myths about his existence

Where now is the ignorant Yoruba cook?
That says "Afin ojeyo" with all boldness
Where is that man that showcases emptiness?
To say the sun beclouds an albino's reasoning.

Many myths are said and put to practice
Cursed is the man that sacrifices an albino child
For the zeal of greed has made men fools
To think the albino's blood a charm

Many a person living with albinism
Are daily deprived of the right to noble labour
So if ever tongues shall wag about racism
Fail not to speak of these black beings in white skin.

Untrodden Path

Suddenly we appear
On a land with tinctured atmosphere
The cross, the moon and star
A sovereign state more ethnical than wazobia

A smooth and broad path before us
Hungry for our feet to break the hush
Alas the road becomes starved
With thorns and thistles upwardly breaking its soil

Like the ape, bigotry evolves
Extremist in every nook and cranny
Untamed by the scepter and khaki
Callously murdering people in cold blood

Enemies of peace lurking around
Refusing to walk in the path of love
Killing people with façade of hide and skin
The unpunished traitors of love and nationalism

Dedicated to those who lost their lives in Southern Kaduna massacre

We Are Not Safe Any More

We are not safe any more
Our culture has diminished

We are not safe any more
Mankind has lost its kind mind

We are not safe any more
Enmity between humans vanished not

We are not safe any more
Ethnical cruelty has not been reduced

We are not safe any more
For peace no search was carried out

We are not safe any more
True friendship has not been found yet

We are not safe any more
Sages’ sayings were not listened

We are not safe any more
Our intelligence has been improved

We are not safe any more
Technology has developed

We are not safe any more
Let us be heedful to the truth
We are not safe any more
