Equal Terms Poems | Examples

Squaring Things Away

Perfection as a goal demands correction;
accepting mistakes requires some reflecting..
Call me a square if you like but I'll admit
when it comes to money, I keep short accounts.

Simplicity puts tender in the kitty;
humility builds reckoning, quality.
It can be smart to start with "I am sorry,"
then move on to square up any damage done.

Meeting with candor - never self-defeating.
treating others as fellows means no cheating;
While allowing for the factor of mercy
the product of two equal terms becomes square.

If you owe me something, I won't cause a rift.
Swift resolution counts, I am no spendthrift.
Square dealings focus on making all sides straight;.
such practice eliminates hate and distrust.

Sir, we clearly are not on the same page,

therefore, here is what I propose,

let us find a middle ground,

let us reach halfway,

let us make a deal,

let us play ball,

let us go fifty-fifty,

let us even the odds,

and let us give and take ...

you mean compromise and not concede,

exactly, and in return, there is an acceptance of equal terms,

therefore, let us both agree to respect ...

naturally, Madame.

You have clearly lost

so here is what I propose,

let us find a middle ground,

let us make a deal,

let us meet halfway,

let us play ball,

let us go fifty-fifty,

let us give and take...

You mean compromise and not concede,

Exactly, and in return, there is an acceptance of equal terms,

Agreed--indeed, agreed.

The Cross

The Cross
It six o`clock Sunday early evening she is in
the church that looks Coptic, the sun lit up
the cross on the top and the roof looks rosé.
 A Morocco radio station plays Arabic music
this is quite fitting now that they have been
targeted by a racist who has not read history,
but let us put that aside for now.

In many European countries, the leaders lament
but secretly wish they could do the same, life would
be so easier without this intrusive Islam.
We, onlookers, are guilty too we have not been able
to accept the Muslims on equal terms
The cross is now in darkness there is a murky side
to all religions they produce extremists

The Enemy

My thoughts come to fast,my hands too slow,
Or is it my true feelings I don't want to know.
I want to meet my enemy on equal terms,
Six guns at ten paces on ground that is firm.
With the sun beating down and dust in the air,
I'm begging my enemy,please take my dare.
Step out in the street so I can take a good look,
And pay you back for all that you've took.
As I look there's a flash of light,
Someone is there ,but just out of sight.
I'm straining my eyes,squinting to see,
I want to end this and finally be free.
I can see him now,but it's not real clear
Why am I suddenly filled with fear?
I feel like I've been here a long time ago,
When I face my enemy I will know.
I see him now but this can't be right
Somrthing is wrong,it must be the light.
The enemy i see,he looks like me,
How could this happen? How could this be?
I'm not the enemy,this can't be true
How can I be the enemy,I thought it was you?
But as I gaze upon my enemy,I can finally see,
You were never my enemy,it's always been me.
