Premium MemberThanks to Twiggy

women were curvy and applauded for it in the forties and fifties
In the sixties, they wore pillbox hats, and Jackie O tweed suits
Twiggy was introduced as the one we were to emulate soon after
she had measurements like my own twenty, twenty, twenty

she must have subsisted on a teaspoon of cereal a day
maybe two peanuts and a sprinkle of juice
I am sure she was not allowed a whole apple
this is when teens began trying to starve themselves

I know because I was one of them
thinking I was enormously fat at one hundred and eight pounds.

riggle raggle piggle paggle rat rat rat
what’s the average weight of a Siamese cat?
riggle raggle piggle paggle rat rat rat
what’s the most dangerous blood sucking kind of bat?

riggle raggle piggle paggle rat rat rat
Aunt Mary, how did you get so enormously fat?
riggle raggle piggle paggle rat rat rat
why are you sitting on Uncle’s thoroughly squashed hat?

Premium Memberelectric zap from hairbrush

I remember brushing my hair in the dark
hearing the electricity zap
my twin and I used to touch the air, getting shocked
laughing about it
this was enormously fun when we were ten

Premium Membereaster sunday memories

Lavender gingham dress
Teensy tiny cotton checks
Laced pinafore with dotted Swiss trim
Thick scratchy twirling tulle petticoat
Lacy white Sunday school gloves
I twirled my dress in my shiny patent leather shoes
Feeling enormously pretty

Cracks, Cuts and Curls

Capsulate, wrenching wore around the nook
Never asked to swing her lips and hardness hook
A scary flood of fumes, fire her tears
And the invoice innocence of her beats
Enormously resonant as the dark dirt
Self-like a famished, fainted convert
Echoes the intensity of despair, she oftenly hides
Yet, quietness and lowliness wove at every side
She the rose’ pearl, mourns with an unbearable bow
Vulnerable Bones, cracked beats, and broken hurls
Yet, the prayer’s mat, where she cures and curls
Heaviness altogether haunts her innerness
But, believe her brilliance, vanishing faintness.

Premium MemberBawdy Parrot Takes Over Zoom

Let’s have a family powwow on zoom.
That way we’ll get to see the new bride and groom.
Six households were ready to teleconference that day.
A dancing parrot with a nasty mouth kind of got in the way.

We had no idea this spoiled bird would be along.
He wore a pirate hat and sang an awfully bawdy song.
The kids thought groom’s bird was hilarious, laughed their tongues out.
What did he say? Grandpa asked, with an enormously loud shout.

The bride was embarrassed by her new husband’s nasty pet.
She said “put him away!” but Grandma Garland yelled “Not quite yet!”
Grandpa's not been interested in anything new since nineteen sixty-three.
A unanimous vote from the rest of us said “let the bawdy parrot be.”

Premium Membergiant pony like dogs

Giant pony-like puppy does not take no for an answer
A grizzly is less aggressive; he intentionally steps on my toes
If he gets any bigger, he will outweigh a giant boar

If I try to write, he runs off with my pencil in his mouth
Do I dare paint?
Painting is out. He has devoured many brushes.

He loves the attention and demands more of it.
Some times he runs full weight at me
Jumping on my recliner and tipping me.

A giant puppy who is usually wet.
We are unsure where all this water is coming from.
He has stolen our hearts, commandeering our home.
Changing our lives in enormously funny ways.
We can not fathom life without him.

Premium Membershe liked her old housedress

she is wearing a bedraggled housedress
blue with enormously large red and yellow mums
it is faded now, but really soft, threadbare in spots

we surprise her with a new one for her eightieth birthday
she overly thanks us with this pink delight
but we never see her wear it; she wears the old one

when her estate is up for sale there are sixteen boxes
with brand new housedresses in them
none worn

people gave her new ones every year for Christmas
and for her birthday but she liked the old one.
They buried her in it.

Premium Membermamas pies

mama’s pies were the best around
her crust was flaky and sugary
no one could bake a pie like she

she never baked a pie
she always baked three or four
I guess she only knew how to make lots of crust

there was enough left to sugar and cinnamon
for my sister and brother and I
she baked that on a cookie sheet and it was delicious!

her lemon meringue was a delicacy about which I still salivate
hot rhubarb pie with a tangy zesty zing, oh, my,
she could bake a terrific pie!

her pudding pies were enormously successful
she dolloped whipped cream on those.
I have not had a good pie since she left this earth.

Looking forward to more of mom’s pies in heaven
one of these days

Premium MemberPoints Tail Feathers

Point’s tail feathers were roaring this morning
heavier than usual, today they felt enormously weighted.
have I always been this bogged down? He wondered
Weighted down from end to end, fowled from way back.

his wife did not ask what was wrong.
She has learned it is better not to mention his aches and pains.
the cage feels pretty confined when he is flying like a hummingbird.
He gave her part of a stink eye, but she pretended not to see.

Phoenix men are grouchy in their older ages.
Point had never been grumpy in his youth.
When the babies were growing up.
Now they were gone; he had lost purpose.

Why don’t you reincarnate this morning?
The minute she said it, she knew this was a mistake.
Point gave her another mean look.
“Why? Do you want to get rid of me?”

She begged him to get a hobby, but nothing interested him.
I would be grumpy too, if I did not have a hobby, she thought.
She wandered into the back of their cage and began to write.
“Point’s tail feathers were roaring this morning….”

Greg the Ram

Whilst grazing quietly in the paddock
Greg the ram contemplated havoc

It had been an exciting fortnight since
He’d made his despairing owners wince

Bored out of his skull by life on the farm
He had decided to chance his arm

Using his thick woolly coat in defense
He'd shot under the electric fence

He busted the neighbours gate latch
And destroyed their vegetable patch

Then spent a couple of happy hours
Trampling on prize winning flowers

The hullabaloo was enormously fun
He was experiencing life on the run!

Whereas life before had been passive
Now his desire for adventure was massive

Now Greg plans escapes all day long
Watching for opportunity to come along

And his owners nerves are shredded
Turns out... Greg is not woolly-headed

Premium Membermore sausage gravy for Stephanie

Stephanie did not know about sausage gravy
Until she decided to join the US Navy.
What is this delicious stuff? She asked her first mate.
Biscuits and gravy; ain’t it enormously great?

She wanted gravy on her eggs, gravy on her toast.
She loved sausage gravy so much, actually the most.
I want gravy in my coffee and gravy in my tea!
She was a six hundred pounder when she decided to marry Lee.

Premium Member- Junk -

Junk can become a enormously problem
Mountain of cheap and meaningless things
Hoarding disorder is a mental illness
                                      Collecting junk because
they may be useful in the future
Narrow smelly paths cut through the house
walls of junk up to the roof

In this home love was born
The room where they were sisters
                                       cozy they curl together
                                    Walls with floral wallpaper
                                     has been crumbled away
Things grow from the basement roots
grew larger and larger every day
                                  Nobody finds the dining table
eats cold pizza on the floor

Premium MemberWhat Did He See

The opossum had an enormously surprised look on his face.
What did he see? A mouse? A croc? A snake? Guessed Grace.
We did not get to find out, for he screamed and ran outside.
Dove into a bramble bush and did his best to hide.

Premium MemberWheel

That circular object that brought revolution,
That, like greased bearings, made human labor easy;
Like machines many, this made its contribution,
The times to change and the cultures to be breezy...!

Carts moved fast; war chariots advanced gorgeously,
This brought out, in agriculture, green whirl, and twirl;
Windmills functioned smoothly; crafts grew enormously,
Spaces grew near as in cars and bikes it did swirl...!

Automobiles, trains, streetcars, wagons, farm machines,
Wheels, like Oxygen, are at work in everything;
In Industries, like nutrients, wheels are sure means,
In quality and quantity richness they bring...!

With the movement of time, the wheel too moves gladly,
Cultures, vivid, join hands with the wheel comradely...!!!
