We all have a story.
We all have drama in life.
Some sad sagas are unbelievable,
And others are much less dramatic.
When I was very young,
There was never enough
Of the summer rains that
Always freed me from pain.
But I was never more appreciative
Than when those cool showers came,
Because it meant that we could refrain
From toiling in sunbeaten fields of summer.
Long days of heat, humidity, and sweat.
Long hot summers of too little fun and play.
Obvious wrongs that no one wanted to make right.
This kid prayed and longed for much better days.
Sometimes, it hurts to think about it.
Childhood labor was simply inhumane.
The economic system could not feel or hear.
But the summer rains were answers to my prayers.
Black life matters
The world is in one mind,
“ Black life matters.”
we wholeheartedly agree with the downtrodden
and we must remedy this inequity.
With books in hands, and not guns.
To pay, like we paid the Jews for the holocaust
is to reduce suffering down to cash.
For the black race, it is about dignity and equality
nothing more nothing less.
We the working-class brown or white are slaves
under the laissez-faire economic system which
has brought poverty and death for a majority
of people: who is going to pay us?
There is only one way, change the social system
that benefit us and let us work together
to the road to racial tolerance.
The Coronavirus Pandemic
3/13/2020
It made its appearance on a Wuhan breeze,
then quickly began spreading to other lands.
From particles being spread by cough or sneeze,
we're advised, to avoid crowds and wash our hands.
Fear of this virus is now staking its claim,
now a pandemic and not lightly taken.
We search for a cure and play a waiting game,
it's caused anxiety and left us shaken.
Laying our Economic System in waste,
it's effect has taken us all by surprise.
In a search for a cure scientist make haste,
pray a vaccine is found before our demise.
Today to our nearby wholesale club we trekked,
many shelves lay bare due to panic buying.
Seeing empty shelves had a chilling effect,
this virus, peoples minds, was occupying.
The faith that capitalism
is the only viable democratic economic system
we have experienced,
or could even ecologically imagine,
MotherTrees to resilient complex forests,
EarthMothers to a resonant democratic society
Reminds me
of the faith that retributive punishment
is the only viable governing political system
we have cooperatively owned and experienced,
or could ever theologically
and resonantly manage
and compassionately imagine
restoring healthy peace,
Reminds me
of the faith that continuing to do the same competitive things,
make the same win/lose mutually feared assumptions,
will eventually result in some different
and less EarthClimate overheated
and critically pathological outcome,
Reminds me
of Einstein's faith that repeating
competing business as usual default
unreasonably defines left v right handed
and footed
and bicameral hearted
and headed insanity.
Believing you are for growing economic opportunities
and shrinking financial risks
AND that you don't mind sacrificing ecological health
and nutritional wealth,
is a confusion of terminology.
There could be no such thing as a sustainable economic system
that is in any way anti-ecological.
Just as there could be no such thing as a healthy economic system
that is not also a politically cooperative,
more than competitive,
systemic network of relationships and transactions.
