Waving to the bus driver
Coming on the bus. Door closing.
Journey. To my workplace. Get off.
I say thank you, and I wave to the driver
From the bottom of my heart
The driver waves back
The smile of driver is honest
Beautiful

The lorry driver
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire
He is not at home
He is on an open
Dark wide road
With potholes.
His precious family
His treasure home
Is on his mind.
On his shoulders
Is a long lorry
With everyone's need.
Lorry driver
His restless arm
His calm arm..
With full of hope
He drives a load
Of provisions.
His steering wheel
He grips tightly
As if he is hugging his
Children.
His lorry moans
The mountains up and down
Past midnight
In the storm
His heart trembles
At the sharp bends
His sudor drips
With gratitude
Through the slopes
As he lets
His lorry slowly roll
Into the next town.
The lorry driver
Also has hopes
That his family
Is ok at home
Like you..
You know.

A strange man drives our country lane.
Can it be that he's insane?
Sick in temperament and brain?
I saw him before, and now again.
Is something about to go down?
He's driving, but what's driving him?
It's not something I can explain.
Could it be for personal gain?
And how long will he remain?
Should I be leaving town?
Does he portend a terror reign?
A horrifying campaign?
Devastatingly inhumane?
Causing misery and pain?
The weather man's predicting rain.
In the wind, there's an eerie sound.
Our way of life can we retain?
Is it circling the drain?
Will it ever come back again?
Will he leave a stain?
Trepidation, so profound.

In an instant,
one or more lives can be changed forever.
A car crosses the road,
now headed for a pick-up truck.
The driver, husband and father to be,
lies dead on the road.
The wife and mother to be will some how survive,
but will never be the same.
The unborn baby will also survive,
their lives will be changed forever.
Their loving mother will make hard choices,
this precious little one will be adopted out.
All three lives have been changed forever,
just one person caused all this pain.

Well I'm going against my better judgement here
And telling you all of my mistakes
I'll do it on my own terms though
Because I don't want to get too close for too long
I know with each word I speak your heart breaks
So I'm pulling away with every ounce of strength I can muster
Because honesty nowadays lacks a certain shade of luster
And I'm terrified of our future together
This January air makes it too cold to catch my breath
But my lungs are burning with a sense of urgency
And I'm unable to breathe
I can't help but to speak faster, revealing all of my skeletons
But I'm drawing in closer to you
When all I want is to settle down in this backseat away from view
I'm failing at keeping my distance
Because this wasn't the way things were meant to be said

A black sportscar driven by a new driver
Mistakes a two-lane road for a three-lane road
The driver of the car zooms in between two other cars
They both pull off, shaken
One of the drivers is an off-duty police officer.
He goes to the other driver to see if he is okay.
The men discuss what happened.
Did you get a good look at the driver?
Neither of them can describe him
Maybe he was young?
I think he had a red cap.
Before the police officer leaves
The fifteen-year-old girl asks, “Did you want his license plate number?”
Until this moment she had been excluded from the manly conversation.

Hey, driver, I just want you to know
That somebody loves you here below
But if you keep driving the way you do
Too fast to heaven you will get through
And that someone you thought loved you true
Will not wait long to marry someone new.

On many a workday morning,
I sit at my kitchen table and
watch the BIRDS lite on electric
lines, or listen to their sweet
chirps from the treetops.
I watch the SUN rising over the
horizon, and in early Fall, I observe
the green FIELDS of harvest slowly
yielding their bounty. Left behind after
a few weeks of sweat and toil is a sea
of brown SOIL prepping for the Spring.
I will often feel the earth rumbling
beneath my feet from a passing TRAIN
rushing her huge and heavy cargo
to markets both North and South.
It won't be long before I'll witness
with joy the MIGRATING BIRDS flying
South to survive the cold of Old Man Winter.
In my own mind, I am overwhelmed by the sheer
commonality of all the above. Indeed, they are all
so very faithful in executing their God-given task.
Moreover, presently, I am most impressed and find
myself musing over the faithfulness of a person behind
the wheels of a big yellow bus with bright and flashing
lights. She's a SCHOOL BUS DRIVER who with great
dedication, passes my home every school-day morning
at 7 AM. I tell you; her punctuality inspires me.
And her employer should be proud of her.

The school bus was full up one rainy day
You can't come aboard the driver did say
Mary cried for she would be late for school
And being late went against the school rules.
Yet the driver had a heart worth pure gold
He couldn't leave Mary stood in rain and cold
Someone may offer a lift, he then thought
His mind a kaleidoscope of discourse.
So the driver asked a sweet natured lass
Could little Mary please sit on her lap
Yes Mary can, the gracious girly said
And a friendship grew of the special best.
Still the two girls remain pals to this day
Sharing life's ups and downs along the way
With many special times they can recall
But the one on the bus is best of all.

The prettiest thing I’ve seen today
Is often there a rare display
The shinning star in her constellation
That moves about insighting sensation
Like music to the ears
A treasure to the eyes
What the tongue calls sweet
A smile labeled compleat
Desire driven by the shape of the eyes
The hour glass figure is no surprise
Cheeks with dimples that paralyze
Hair tamed by curls supplied
The length of which says satisfied
How precious this feeling of being hugged
With eyes embracing the pinnacle of love
The momentary destination
Of heaven from above
The meaning of pleasure
Satisfaction without measure

My mom drove like a racecar driver,
this ma'am was always the first arriver;
Abba loud was such a hoot,
stopped, the car would peep and toot;
aha- again . . . I was a survivor !

Children can be pretty noisy while you’re driving
As they are in your responsible care.
When you take the bus back to the garage,
After dropping every child at their homes or daycare
Make a thorough sweep over every row ensuring a child has not
Been left behind and make sure everything is secure.
