Premium MemberDodger Game

Though they fell into an abyss,
I don't think it's the apocalypse.
So, nevertheless and all the same,
I'll watch today's Dodgers game.

drywall

inside of twenty takes
dirty filled frames
no resolution
to me the family
that a ugly
call me
cat purrs on approach
welcome spat
too literal
gotta reclamation
eye's cried so much relief
brushes is dusty clean
practice strokes at the gentleman's table
romanticism, adjatate, harpsichords
classified and credentialed
white ink's a tank thinking
'I remember", "he"
distract the trap, autumns born
waves of green mustard gas
country come plains, it's not your first mistake
chains on protest for poverty effort
2am production prints

beggars, dodgers, i aint your draft calling
pre screened and bread
my land by sea
indoors, know hoe
get to work, beach gone
pushing, yeah who's double checked
out of decks, on paper
iliterations an postulates
hot boxes of brake dust
crescent shaped credit creased

basic design, irish blazee, defend

Premium MemberMickey and Duke go to Sleep - a Sequel

Dodgers in five. Yankee fans weep.
Four times Freddie Freeman went deep.
We hope to see you here
again, this time next year.
Duke and Mickey go back to sleep.

Premium MemberVoice

When you hear a voice in the wilderness
That's tempting you in hours of loneliness
Remember the strength that was shown by Christ
In the desert those forty days and nights.

Demons are alert when you're at your worst
They'll come along when you hunger or thirst
When you feel that life is losing sparkle
They quickly jump in, dodgers are artful.

Rogues are charmers who appear day or night
And we are tempted when a demon strikes
We're only human and induce mistakes
Throughout life's journey goodness is at stake.

Coming along with evil will at heart
Their aim is for fine folk to fall apart
Devils in disguise is what demons are
Feeding off the meek alone when it’s dark.

We’re all aware who the evil beast is
So why do some find it hard to resist
Refuse and stay strong, be thou not a fool
For fools rush in and forget all God's rules.

When you hear a voice and there’s no one near
Pray to God and He’ll allay all your fear.

Immigrants

An estimated 75,000 immigrants live in Los Angeles,
All transplants from Mexico,
No, they’re not who you think.

They stand in rows along the famous LA streets,
A promotional idea of real estate developers.
No more native than the Dodgers baseball team.

The idea came from the French Riviera
Where these palm trees were also transplanted
And intended to portray glitz and glamour.

Symbols of the “City of Angels”,
You will see them in many films shot there
By directors, actors, and studio executives.

Many of them were immigrants too.

Premium MemberI Will Not Vote

Yes, I will certainly vote
But I won’t vote for liars
I will not vote for backstabbers
I will not vote for dictators
I will not vote for traitors
I will not vote for murderers
I will not vote for bad politicians
I will not vote for magicians
I will not vote for fake Christians
I will not vote for draft dodgers
I will not vote for gangsters
I will not vote for bluffers
I will not vote for pirates
I will not vote for any inmates
I will not vote for tyrants
I will not vote for corrupt giants
Yes, I will definitely vote
I will vote today for truth tellers
I will vote for no mother flowers.

Premium MemberCorsets and Candy Cigarettes

Where are my old white corsets
Right next to your candy cigarettes

Hey! We didn't get today's edition of 'Grit'
It's canceled. They use bad words now like 'Guck' and 'Spit'

Oh, and I can't seem to find my orange Pez dispenser
I threw it out. They've proved that Pez causes cancer

By the way, have you seen the Sunday funnies
They're a no-go, ever since they canceled 'Pogo'

You know I've got two tickets for the Brooklyn Dodgers
Ha, ha, ha! Even Sandy Koufax is just an old codger

Then I'm going cruising in my new Studebaker
--with that benchwarmer from the Minneapolis Lakers?

Before I forget, don't throw away my bottle of royal blue ink
Ball point pens been around since '38, sister, even in pink

So you shan't think me old-fashioned, I just bought a brand-new TV!
-Yeah, a nine-inch black-and-white with vacuum tubes that smile at me

But I paid for it with five million Wheaties box tops!
That's crazy... I think I'll start collecting used lemon drops...

Premium MemberJersey Number 42 Retire Please

Number 42 Retire
Brooklyn Dodgers Number 42
Hang up your jersey, honey
No one can follow you after Jackie Robinson

Major League Baseball was uplifted into the outer sphere
When Jackie Robinson was brave enough
And brazen enough to try….

Major League Baseball had been closed to people of color
Jackie’s prowess, professionalism and success changed
The way people in the USA thought about all sports.

Thank goodness.
He paved the way for
black football players and basketball players too

I wonder if he ever knew?

Premium MemberI Write Bawdy Limericks and Poop Poetry

I’m known as the limerick queen
Though some deem my work is 'obscene'
When I write about todgers
I upset coffin dodgers -
They’ll NEVER upset my routine !

MANY THANKS TO MILTON FOR HIS RECENT TRIBUTE TO ME - IT WAS AWARDED POTD AND I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND SO MANY LOVELY COMMENTS.

AFTER 7 YEARS OF POSTING MY 'POOP POETRY' ON THE SITE I WILL NEVER STOP TRYING TO MAKE FOLK SMILE AND WILL NOT GIVE IN TO A BLOG HOG WHO HAS TARGETED ME TWICE THIS YEAR

Premium MemberThe Bums Play Somewhere Else

Just in case this is something you didn't know before:
the Dodgers don't play baseball in Brooklyn anymore.
Ebbett's Field is a ballpark we will no longer see.
It was torn down, and is now a part of history.
Even though those boys in blue have gone away,
they are still playing the game of baseball today.
In a new town, the Bums have achieved greater success.
Home games are played in the California city of Los Angeles.

Bygones

The fans of the Brooklyn Dodgers
Once rivaled those of Roy Rogers
But when Trump came on
Those standards were gone
Trigger got stuffed with old codgers

Acorns and Oaks

Coffin dodgers and nursing home lodgers,
wrinklies, pensioners and plain old codgers.
A drain on society, archaic models of piety,
bed blockers, youth knockers, paragons of sobriety.

But is all that we see, all that it seems,
the elderly, like you, still have hopes and dreams.
Still carry the baton for tomorrow's youth,
the keepers of history, the sentinels of truth.

Though the fire is out, there still burns a flame,
which, if fanned by interest, could burgeon again.
Igniting a beacon, a fantastic life force,
a living library, a priceless resource.

So, honour your old folk, cut them some slack,
for a lot of them have been to hell and back.
They've built the society we now take for granted,
so enjoy the fruits of the seeds that they planted.

Perfect Game

World Series, back in '56,
Against the Brooklyn Dodgers,
Will always be remembered
And not just by some old codgers.

For the Yankee pitcher did what none
Had ever done before
Or since - a perfect game,
With 2 to zip the final score.

Don Larsen was that pitcher
And, at 90, he just died.
His feat's not been repeated
Though some aces surely tried.

The ending, made immortal
In an image that still charms,
Shows the catcher, Yogi Berra,
Leaping into Larsen's arms.

I hope that record always stands,
Indelible in baseball lore -
Perfection in a Series game;
What fan could wish for any more?

Evening In Brooklyn

The former home of the Brooklyn Dodgers lives on!
Some of my loved ones still live there
Brooklyn has some things going for it
Such as the great Brooklyn Museum
and the Botanical Gardens
Coney Island is unique
And the borough has the Brooklyn Cyclones team
and the Brooklyn Nets
basketball team
Famous people have called the place home
millions of many different
backgrouds who now call the borough
home
There has been strife there
   but the future looks
     sunny
for those whose eyes, minds and hearts
experience the ambiance of the place
Brooklyn faces the futue
     with great anticipation

Baseball Trip

The Mets triumphed!
I have been a fan for many years
How many of you out there in the darkness
care about what happened in Citifield
I even have a T-Shirt which shows the Brooklyn Dodgers on it
They were a ground - breaking team
Allowing the first black player
to show off his skills
They also had the great Sandy Koufax
Who some considered to be "King of the Jews"
 To his credit
he took off on the high holidays
and inspired poetry when he did!
