Distancing Myself

Don't drag me into the tactical
scheming games you play,
for I do not want involvement
not in any little way.
Try if you dare, and you will see
there's no way to get one over on me,
as I will not entertain or rise to the bait;
karma will catch up with you to decide your fate.
While I carry on not caring one bit what you do,
distancing myself from malicious people like you.

Premium Member Insurance

Nothing can be insured totally
Neither life, accident, disaster,
sickness nor epidermic
Surely
You pay and lose to receive
It is only a sort of compensation
A sort of condolence gift
Sadly to say
No one can insure Omicron
As no one can insure fate
Anyway
Recite a prayer
Do distancing, wearing mask,
washing hands and vaccination
For a narrow escape

Distancing

Prouder,
Louder,
Pushing & shoving,
Totally unloving,
Colder & farther,
Farther & farther
Away from you!

"Oh, God, is it true?
Is this really me?
Really, can it be,
My heart
Torn apart?
Heal me please!
Forgive me God, only Jesus frees!"

Premium Member The Sums of Distancing

Sums are far
Some are near
Distances
Just doesn't add up

Distancing Instances

My face I wear a mask
Both hands mine I do wash
Instances for distances
Between me and someone
Then and there my concern
Someone is one before me
He is another he’s not me
My face and my hands true
Before me isn’t another I also true

Isolation In April 2020

I feel almost cut off from the rest of the world,

Trapped,

In my city, in my home, in my mind.

I can feel the time slipping away along with my sanity as I cling to a semblance of normality.

Only 3 days in with 33 to go, and even that seems quite unlikely.

I try to talk to my friends, meaning lost behind faceless words and also lost,

The countless treasures you never even knew you had

Until you didn’t have them.

The benefits are a great many and the cost is high,

Too high.

Time spent with my family is probably the most normal thing I have,

But the time spent on the computer,

even now,

feels as if it is ripping away all that I had grown accustomed to.

The monotony of life, the unpredictability as well,

Gone

A distant memory,

Of life without

Isolation

Social Distancing

Men always remember Molly
The girl with the lethal brolly
Get near her skirt
Or try to flirt
And its back to Hello Dolly!

What Could Happen When Distancing and Wearing Masks

One woman
Distanced in a row of marked-off stools
Sat sideways
At a bar in the afternoon

Dressed like passing summer sky
Viewed through a window
From a cooled inside

Blue skirt hem
Napkined to her lap
Legs crossed like wind-swept dunes
A smile of salt
Tossed over her shoulder

She fiddles with her diamond ring

Her fingertip a sigh
Tuning
The half empty
Rim of a Margarita

Warbling

To the tall bartender
Who’s drying with a cloth and fingers
The lips to his goblets

A crystal choir whistling back

He’s bored for more of a crowd
Both wishing for tips
Just like old times.

Premium Member The Age of Social Distancing

The age of social distancing, rife with existential angst and discontent.
People with cabin fever break quarantine, take to the streets to vent.

Premium Member Ounce of Prevention

Does wearing a mask make you ill?
Are you a social distancing hater?
Then imagine how you'd feel
Being put on a ventilator
