It's hard to maintain a strong democracy
when people elect a kakistocracy.
To those who believe in "America First":
your government now consists of the worst.

The POTUS must be cruel and cockeyed
choosing a cabinet of the least-qualified.
Only someone vile and obscene
would select a Health Secretary who is anti-vaccine.

And the Education Secretary must be stunned:
she actually refers to AI as "A One"!
But then, a man with a history of disorderly conduct
would choose sycophants who are cracked and corrupt.

The new definition of stupid
is accepting those who are unsuited,
knowing the truth and seeing it with your own eyes,
but still believing the hype and the lies.

Dear Karen, there’s something I need:
I’ve got you a poem to read.

A deficit in one’s attention
is probably best left unmentioned.

If boring writes get you distracted,
my outcome’s adversely impacted.

For when the dear reader is addled,
strong placements just up and skedaddle.

Before you’ve a chance to retort,
just know that I’m keeping it short.

Disorder escapes its confines
perusing these final two lines!

Robert Sherriff - The Sound of Silence

Robert Sherriff - Australian - Poet -Author - Singer-Actor - American Historian – Photographer- Dedicated TO Jayde Sherriff

Tragic Disaster and "The Sound of Silence"

This tragic disaster brings to mind Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel's haunting melody, "The Sound of Silence." It echoes the silent battles I've faced, walking daily with the shadow of suicide as my constant companion.
Paul Simon - Domestic abuse
Simon married singer Edie Brickell on May 30, 1992. They have three children: Adrian, Lulu, and Gabriel. On April 26, 2014, Simon and Brickell were involved in a domestic dispute. Each was issued a summons to appear in court on disorderly conduct charges.

Disorderly Conduct

Disorderly Conduct

Keep to the right
Keep to the right
Teachers all taught
Keep to the right

Stay on the right
While we all walk
So it’s not chaos
Crossing crosswalks

Dodging and bumping
While in the store
Now it’s all madness
No order no more

Keep to the right
Is obsolete
It went in decline
For the…me me

Keep to your right
Or to your left
It’s about order
Not politics

Stay in your lane
Stay in your lane
It was so simple
Now it’s all lame

Premium Member Long Story Short

A walk around the block in my parents’ neighborhood at dawn
wearing mom’s sweater and pop's sneakers with a clown hole cut out for
      toe infection
I was stopped by a cop in a cruiser
this was during the Vietnam War long hair ago
he was angry at everyone I was offended by everything
he said which way are you going I said which way are you going
so he socked me in the mouth and handcuffed me
I was arraigned on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
my good parents came down and stood beside me before the judge
I wrote to the police department internal affairs
not for retribution but to start a paper trail
in case this cop someday bopped one of my brothers
a few months later I’m back at work in NYC
two detectives come into the city to question me
one good cop one bad cop we park in the park me in the back seat
they wanna know was I mouthy to the cop who punched me in the mouth
long story short
they leave me on a bench to eat my lunch and the charges are dropped

Disorderly Conduct

Quiet on the set, you annoying disrupter
Your carrying on is causing unproductivity
The well oiled machine has lost its lubricant
A clog in the artery of consistsncy, you block blessings
With so many distracted minds, you are not needed
One cannot paint if one cannot focus
Move your self from the assembly line
Disrupt those who yearn to hear your dissonance
For this tune, plays perfectly fine without you

Hair

Untamed unruly
Insubordinate strands coiled into a restrictive pose
Chemical warfare and arson to my scalp to straighten you out
For a while you complied but you always get tangled up in a mess
Arrested for disorderly conduct
Failing to yield to a comb
Robbing me of my sanity
This delinquency I can’t tolerate
So I had to lock you up

Disorderly Conduct

Disorderly conduct
Conducted under construction
Destruction of emotions, feelings and likenesses.

Simply stated yet so full of complications
Complicated likeness and complying not.

Disorderly disorganized mishap
Misshapen. Shape it. Make it beautiful

Not so popular , not a real crowd pleaser.
Watching silently. A joyous union
Un-orthodox not typical, slightly unusual.

Usually likeable. But yet not quite.
Quietly, sinking into an abyss of miss.

Not on target, but not off either
So on but off

So right
But wrong

Left and right
Up and down
Yes and no

Disorderly conduct
Conducted under construction
For something not at all
But something that is

Elegantly lain
Beautifully written
Tragically different

Disorderly conduct

Before I Die Young

My parents were both cut in two,
my mother head to torso, laterally bisected
into equal parts, my father cut slightly off center
into unequal parts, his heart bisected, his head intact.

My parents were cut in two, as if
giant shards of sharp glass
were free falling in the universe.
She happened to be in the wrong place
at the wrong time, he standing next to her,
they were both cut in pieces.

When I look at this picture carefully,
I notice their only daughter so close
by her mother's side, pierced through
at an angel, my viscera partially exposed.

These are my addictions,
this my disorderly conduct,
here is my gore, mixed
with the coffee stains
on the cluttered table.

I go on living like this,
cut almost through,
remembering my parents,
her vacant eyes, his neck wrenched
sideways, wracked with pain,
how they died a thousand deaths
before they both died young.

This is the shard of glass that fell
out of the universe through me.
I go on living like this, hoping
someday I'll meet a surgeon
or discover a way to dissolve glass
before I die young, too.
