Decimal point is real yet
Unforeseen
The last scene of the
Latest dream of a
Vague and future
happiness
The language is Pigeon
And unfamiliar
An inspiration of
Lukewarm winds
An overdrawn account
Of promised future days
Compromised and
Secured only in unsigned
Promissory notes
And yet the plan is
To retire young
While the infirm
Await their turn
To expire
To the tune of a
Closed account
big hatted cat in a
hip city flat
remembering that
he was in a big
city
flat
not patient
like some other
dead cat
just not sure who's flat...or
why somebody else's
leaning over the balcony rail
looking across the
city
smoking a cigarette
shifting through too many
impressions
responding with
so little
effect
Its just a small mark on a page
A speck, a period, a black dot
But it wields inordinate power
No matter if we like it or not....
We're taught its really a place holder
It can determine a little or a lot
A single dime can turn into10 bucks
With a flick in just the right spot....
Careers have been made with the dot
Some people study on just how to use
Years spent making marks on a page
Its a wonder their mind they don't lose....
To separate their cents from a dollar
Some countries use the old comma
If it works , I say just go for it
I don't get all the decimal drama......
So if you think this dot unimportant
Nothing much to rattle your brain
Just make a mistake in your banking
And see your fortune go down the drain....
