pants for watching -
as we wonder around the supermarket
my daughter pushes her own trolley
she's trying to give her brother's shins a wallop
he shouts at her - how dairy
the trolley is confiscated; we look for the extra strong mints
there's a dog in a trolley
looking shell-shocked
we pass the ham
my son talks of hamlet
my daughter, in the trolley; her cheeks scrape against
the frozen food doors
sweet chin music in the fruit aisle
i jump on the melons
in snack limbo
we find the mints and confectionary
we can't find the car
cash and carry blues
a trolley is rolling towards us at 20 mph
we're running out of thyme

The most decorated cake in London Town
Placed on a spinner, went around and around.
Sweet frosting in pastels of every color
Decorated by my best friend’s father and mother
If it tastes half as wonderful as it looks
It will be a cake headed for the record books.
I am excited to see this confectionary delight.
Yum! Yum! She also tastes incredibly sweet and light.

Distorted
To alter your brain chemistry
Sugary sweet
To feed your dysmorphic
Paranoia
You came here for comfort
Didn't you?
Carefully
Constructed
Confectionary
Is what you find
Perfectly wrapped
Purposefully waiting
Shut the fridge door on your way out.

Ralph is the most creative quintessential wizard in Jackson County.
A born alchemist, he spins gold out of a variety of fur and bounty.
His laboratory is not open to the public, but he is related to us.
He conjures masterpieces out of bits of fabric, feathers and dust.
A master at his craft, he delights us with an open house each May.
We all head to Kansas City where the old folks get to happily stay.
The young ones ride the waves of Ralph’s gulf stream wizardry.
Frankly there is no place on earth our crazy family would rather be.
Ralph’s confectionary sweet meats are known by one and all.
We beg to come back in a few months, maybe slide in during the fall.
Ralph is too busy thinking, and only wants to see us once a year.
Yesterday I saw Ralph’s newest castle, fit for a diamond, dog or deer.

It’s true, the afternoon is young;
I’ll make a bet:
Before the sun has set,
Strawberries will have sprung
From underneath your tongue.
Delectable, yes, tres delish
You won’t forget:
Exceeded, not just met,
Beyond your wildest wish,
A creamy berry dish.
The finest, richest creams -
The forest elves
Again outdid themselves:
Confectionary dreams
From unicorns, it seems.
In fields of magic dust,
Wild-grown berries
Picked by woodland fairies:
A culinary must,
A name the elvish trust.
Sweet crystals, careful mined
Where dragons roar,
Demanding always more.
By serpent’s fire refined,
Then stolen from them blind.
Stirred over elvish flame,
The paddles turned
By giant ogres, learned
Before before the dark lord came
and sullied their great name.
Quick-flashed in icy streams,
Both fluff and stiff,
A jazzy berry riff,
With old world notes it teems,
A tastebud’s wettest dreams.
Alas, we must regroup!
Supply chain blues,
There is no time to lose:
Store-bought, pink berry goop -
Perhaps a double scoop?

It was the war of the cookies, battle lines were fiercely drawn
Dipped versus no dip, diagonal frosting turned on
Sprinkles versus non-sprinkles, arguments about a treat
Dipped cookies bringing in generals, all kinds of heat.
Pure breads adamantly denying that icing was any good.
Causing a huge daily skirmish in our confectionary neighborhood.

Let's relive that night of nebulas.
Toga night, fearless night!
With Aphrodite dancing clearly in
their sight.
Eros casts his sexual might,.
Let's dance in bewitching circles of Aegean mystery.
Only ....you and I in a kissable, erotic synergy.
Filled to the brim, our aquamarine crystal glasses.
San Francisco has memories and absolutely no passes.
They still celebrate love each night on their roof.
I hear the pawing of their Unicorn Minerva's hoof.
Two, that chose to love under the gods' directions.
From this earth, their love, a delicate confectionary,
eternal connection!

When all this world in fear and darkness walks,
I turn off TV or radio and will not by negativity be stalked.
I control what flows into my soul and mind.
And abhor the cruelness I hear, which is so very unkind.
The world, sadly, seems to have lost any gratitude.
Take a look at the huge amount of destructive arttitude.
Hatred of world leaders is a habit not necessary.
Maybe you need sweets from a confectionary?
We pen as if were darlings from the universe?
If so~ that's a very sick attitude and brazenly terse.
Be loving of The Word and do forgive others.
We go around only once and there is not another.
Jazz, New Age music, Enya, Ron Korb, Kimo West.
Puts my very crazed mind to rest.
Then does my pen bloom like a flower.
Especially, when it is close.to the midnight hour!

WIFE’S DAY
Will guys still be flocking
down to the supermarket
with gloved hands and a mask
hair astrew, wild eyes
the surprise that it’s wife’s day
I mean mother’s day today
Will he shake the box of Russel Stovers
longing to pinch
each lady, find the filling inside?
Will he flutter through the leftover
cards, find one amusing
or overly mushy
or singsongy?
Will his glazed over eyes
dart back and forth
in front of the flower case
a fresh dozen...one’s wilted
will she notice?
Will one with perfectly white teeth
grab two steaks and a bottle of bouquet
bless the barbeque
and grab a superlicious cake?
Or will covid-19 excuse the display
of affection, confuse the confectionary confection,
throw petals to the wind, take a bite
out of mother’s day sails?
As for me I received a simple gift, a coffee cup.
Simple and attractive, my love for coffee
noticed, my love for God —
the saying says it all.
Don’t buy me off
Offer a loving cup
He did!

Aerial dribs and drabs, a sidewalk canvas
As a toddler chases bubbles her mother blows
from confectionary soap,
Fluttering fluidity in spring air
Child's laugh, a mosaic of innocence, discovery and glee
Her run after each globe, unsteady, twisted gravity
Her footwork shifts in warfare wobble, no sinkhole falling
Her reach to pop each bubble, circus kerfuffle, giddy,
giggles that swing like a trapeze artist,
while a mother retrieves
unexpected memory
shards of recovery
that coat a guarded self
Neverland jester, a child's guileless glow,
routing air baubles
unconstrained by space,
untethered from fear,
avoiding a fall off the planet
to limited mobility
For sometimes life's march
doesn't start on time

at dawn i hug an armful of words - open dictionary.
i toss them in the air like confetti confectionary.
like sherbert they’re my own flavor’d dialect creamery.
i t a l i c s and bold, often deliciously contrary.
a twirling baton, orchestrated seriously — ‘musingly.
sadly twilight, strong and full of bright, smashingly
whispers “goodnight” and tucks away my darling poetry.
yawn...morning stars dreamily arrive on time, quickly.
new dawn, perchance happens upon an open dictionary.

San Francisco God and Goddess
The softness of your lips, have never
left mine.
Strolling the sweet, confectionary San Francisco streets.
The all knowing stars to us, whispered,
"For now and forever, she is all thine!"
Suddenly, mystical rainbow bubbles came from nowhere.
Our souls rose with them, most joyfully!
Headed for celestial planets!
You and I, your lovely Isis.
You my most torrid lover, Osiris.
With my plentiful, long hair, Isis, I,
Creating a total veil concealing our lovemaking.
Thus, a child is created so utterly and phenomenally, breathtaking!

First Kiss
We just were playing chase,
On a humid Chicago night,
Laughing and sweating.
Summer moon just rising tenderly
in the sky, just to our right.
Suddenly, there we were in the bushes,
My girlhood ended when on my lips,
Donnie's own descended, so tenderly.
So soft and confectionary sweet was he.
The moon was the minister,
I opened my eyes and stared up at him!
The moon winked back and said..
Good going, kid~then the sky became
Wonderfully dusky and dim.
My cotton candy, Donnie!
I shall forever remember you.
And the song you wrote about me?
Decades later, I remember each loving
word, too.
