Do You Really Think We're Made for Each Other?

My love for you is like a crashing plane:
exhilarating pace, without control:
you’re equatorial around the pole.
Why meet my sunshine with torrential rain?
My heart is Dealey Plaza, you’re on Main.
I often think destruction is your goal -
you seem to me a well-intentioned troll.
Profundities, once uttered, are inane:
your utterances, colourfully drab,
are tart as custard, sweet as succotash:
your slow-burn humour, like a smash-and-grab,
resembles credit cards. I’ll stick to cash.
No self-respecting homeless hermit-crab
would ever trade with you. You’re feebly rash.

Premium MemberA Short Break

In a City full of travellers, I decided to
stay awhile,
This visiting visitor was venturing,
The streets were colourfully decorated,
crowded and bustling,
People were dressed in sparkly costumes,
sang and danced, all offering a friendly
smile.

The eyes were all-conquering,
A new language the ears struggled but
tuned to listening,
The smell from food stalls filled the air,
the nose couldn’t help but take a whiff,
Fragrant aromas made the mouth and
taste buds water, signalling a need to
stop and take a taste.

Feelings of relief and joy had slowly
crept into my soul,
In truth, I felt refreshed and energised
enough to take an evening stroll,
My last Sunset brought a touch of sorrow,
For I was leaving at dawn on the morrow.

Premium MemberFalling

At first
love floats like a snowflake,
until it melts in your hand.

Then it falls,
like an Autumn leaf,
eventually swept away in the breeze.

Sometimes love offers mercy,
like April showers to rose petals,
but no rain can save from decay.

Love wants to be free like a kite,
flying colourfully in bright blue skies,
but grey clouds ruin its flight.

One day love will descend like sunset.
Maybe we are born to fall -
but love will always ascend again like sunrise.

Premium MemberMardi Gras

Mardi Gras has finally come to town
Bourbon Street is getting ready for the best party around
Let the party begin as the neon lights get the revellers dancing through the streets
Music from various artists with unique and powerful beats
The windows and the doors from balconies fling open with no time to spare
Brightly coloured beads fall through the night air
Police on horses try to maintain crowd control
Thousands of people enjoying their alcohol-fuelled stroll The street looks like a giant rainbow with all the colourfully dressed people abound
The trek becomes an obstacle course with trinkets strewn across the ground
I survived the night thanks to my wife who kept me in line
Truly a night to remember until the end of time

Another Autumn Arrival

Emerald leaves, tall-standing trees A stronghold of burly branches
At Mother Nature’s gentle whisper Colourfully, a canopy transforms and unveils
Burnt oranges, rich crimsons, and butternut golds Jewelled leaves radiate in the September sun

Then in perfect harmony, Mother Nature sings again, this time with Old Man Winter The two foreshadow foliage’s imminent, hue-darkened demise
Yet, those lovely leaves persevere and perform, obediently and graciously Hence, one by one, they descend and succumb

Perhaps, I too, need to heed the loving ways of Mother Nature
To mirror the change of seasons within my own wounded heart and mind And then, gracefully like the leaves
Embrace the time to glimmer and the time to let go

Grackles

I rambled along a city street
Going nowhere with no one to meet.
When I espied grackles in a tree,
Stretching and heckling between the leaves.
Purplish headed, black feathered beings.
Perched on the branches, stately and free.

Undaunted by my drawing nearer,
Their yellow eyes traced my demeanour.
And when I stopped to observe the plague,
While standing ‘neath the foliage shade,
They dropped to the ground and hopped around
Searching for bugs and seeds to swallow down.

Other birds in the vicinity
Colourfully dressed and singing brightly
Flitted about but could not drown out
The grackles’ cacophony here about.
Their corny antics invoked my senses
To marvel that such creatures existed.

And as I continue my dreary way,
In this world of bland human display,
I think of them enjoying summer
Filling my heart with spirited wonder.
And chuckle to myself by chance to see
Grackles basking in tall broadleaf trees.

Oh That Colourful Design

OH THAT COLOURFUL DESIGN…

That colourfully designed paper that can make one insane…
Crazily sought after by young and old,
Humans live on it till they die
Always throwing men into mayhem.

Preferred above nature
Preferred above love
Preferred above the beings
Even above the universe.

Religious houses,homes,society are in trouble,
Can make you powerful with it
And hopeless without it.

A scarce tool which everyone need…
Readily available for murderers, robbers,
Assassins and ritualist…
You might become a ritualist to have it in surplus.

May heal but can destroy
You can only survive with it in hospitals.
Elders no longer live long,
Children destinies thwarted.

Please go back to where you came from!
Let us live in peace and harmony…
Its more harm than pleasure!

Autumn's Arrival

Emerald leaves, tall-standing trees
Colourfully, a canopy transforms and unveils
Burnt, bold oranges, rich crimsons, and butternut golds
Like jewels, they radiate in the September sun

Mother Nature gently guides, the leaves obediently perform and persevere
The dark hues of their wounded state prepare to succumb
I too, need to release the darkness of my wounded heart
May the change of seasons remind me that like the leaves, there is a time to glimmer
And a time to let go

HOT FLOWER
Grows red blooms breaths
Growing summer hot flower
Heated hot passionate
Burning torrid summer blaze
Vividly flowing colourfully like a sheet on the clothesline
Moving growing amidst the land surrounding streams flourishing
Flourishing growing summer hot flower
Grows red blooms breaths

Died At the Cathedral

The songs of sorrow is toneless
The sorrows of the heart is song less
Gone and gone for good
The dept of death is Dept less
The cream of death is colourfully
Sorrowful because none see's death but we
All hear from him often time
Why this marriage between the body and earth
Why this wedding between the grave and the living
None goes into this marriage of death and return
When death divorce's our breath we marry the earth
The bells of time can not stop death
The tolls by the cathedral mourns the scrolls
Because death can not be divorced
We are born to grow but we live only to die

Las Vegas

City of illusion
Colourfully lit alleys, gaming joints
Millionaires, millionaires in waiting
Chattering, dining away
Divulging beautiful illumination
Of a paradise on earth
Devoid of stress and bottlenecks
Somewhere beneath the winning and dining
Lay the tempting blackjacks, wheels of fortune
And mesmerizing angels of death
Whose venoms are more deadly
Than those of a mamba.

Sparrows

Spring out like running waters
Speak colourfully like butterfly
Seek the strength of a saviour
Save the sick
Set the sit for the stars
See yourself as the star
Start the race to set the pace
Songs are to be sang
Saints must be referred
So set your soul to stand
Stand to be a sighting story

Winter Cold

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Outside in the winter cold?
Remember to wrap up, keep warm.
If you have a horse, keep it warm, be told!
Intentions, empathy for the needy, make it your norm,
greater now for the homeless, who think they're being bold.
Consider the wildlife, how they might suffer in a storm?
Future?  Well if springtime is not fickle, colourfully gold!
Building hope for summer, the weathermen will us all inform.
