Placed 3rd in Contest
on smooth hot rock I sat in REVERIE
after a HALLUCINATION drink of
mushroom, poppies and truffle
IMAGINATION soared like bald eagle
on high, throwing twin twigs with sigh
up I flew landing on a rainbow in
lucid DREAM ~
saw tinker bell fairies in pastel lace
with mauve daisy hats to face
sucking honeyed cream in wild glee
cherubs singing WHIMSY chorals
skipped to amethyst abode awaiting
dragonflies lighted a willow way
as swans mated on water lily ponds
of petals, elves smiling at bay
secretly inside a Crystal Palace
of chanting High Priestesses pure
sat Lord of VISUALISATION and awe
with blue-green eyes and beard of
silver hay, not all could hither this way
he fed me manna and mango ambrosia
gifted a garland of lotus snow white
a sapphire pen dripping indigo ink
to serpentine scribe enchanting song
on a rainbow in rubied blink !

it's brilliant
i'm writing this in the living room
and i can use the car key
to unlock the car from 'ere
i tried in the kitchen
i tried it on the stairs
i can hear it unlock as it beeps
and when it happens
i can hear liturgical chorals
native drumming
a giant plume
of emotional perception
i tried it in the upstairs wardrobe
i heard the car faintly unlock
my wife came home and found me crouched in there
there's been no fourth base since

Daylight with,
its gifts so bright,
brings clarity
to my mind.
Nights darkened caress,
with moonlit breast,
is a
catalyst
igniting dream-fires.
Daylight sings
of lovely things;
sights and senses,
are entrancing delights.
Nighttimes chorals,
singing florals
to sleep by,
firefly
nightlights.
Daydreams bring
invented schemes,
to my wandering
mind.
Night dreams
stream,
dancing swing,
to music of the night.
All-in-all,
the day and night,
duality’s balance brings.
The yin/yang
of life’s tang’s
a joyous reality.

The chill of November nips your nose
as winter winds bring chills
The Autumn leaves swirling to the ground
and my world feels calmly still
A promise of Thanksgiving
invitations from family and friends
Putting away the garden hose now
freezing temperatures soon to begin
Christmas decor already abundant
Salvation Army bells ring through the air
Putting a dollar in the pot
receiving greetings of holiday cheer
My house is cozy and stock for winter
hoping nasty weather will pass us by
Hearing the chorals singing
of our Savior in a manger his lullaby
Come November another year closing
soon the hope of a new year arrives
Let there be peace on earth
my silent prayer we all will strive

How does the music flow?
Subtle single soprano notes and chorals sing out
in whispered melodies, blustery bravado mix doubts
when one tenor voice begins its solos on the rise
blending with the symphony surprise.
At first comes the birthing lullabyes
raising smiles and laughter to a mother's eyes
followed quickly by the growth spurt years
with know it all, rebellious tessitura teenage tears.
A young adult determined to be a trembling soloist
with every decision made too fast, too quickly confessed
in life's lover, warrior, passaggio falsetto blessed
wavering in decisions and earlier dream quests.
Mid life crisis drops us each to our knees
in lack luster timbre bass keys
of pain and loss upon a lifelong analogue
marked high and low with vocal pedagogue.
Time is faded and easily slipping away
contralto hymns flow deep and low yet never stay
as the background orchestra continues the sacred cantata
of life's moments culminating in our final sonata.

I've never heard the sound of snow
nor dawning's oboes crooning light,
yet witnessed angels' trumpets blow
and chimings of the flurries grow
as alabastrine wings take flight.
I've never heard the sound of snow
when cello strings caress the bow
of morning at its burnished height,
yet witnessed angels' trumpets blow
a salmon cirrus cameo,
diaphanous and opalite.
I've never heard the sound of snow,
piano in the afterglow
of sunshine's brittle fahrenheit,
yet witnessed angels' trumpets blow
ebullient through the chorals' flow
across the operatic white.
I've never heard the sound of snow,
yet witnessed angels' trumpets blow.

DEATH IN D FLAT
The song begins with a high note and ends on a low
And denotes the notes urged and surged in between
In the center of the song the brass begins to blow
But then a piccolo portends the end of pert and pristine
At first the fiddles finery finesses a flute
While a violin steals a viola's heart
Suddenly a dulcimer and a drum declare a dispute
When, of course, a pinewood piano pulls them apart
The maestro keeps time measured quite well
With a baton beckoning beauty from a band renown
The crescendo cradles a symphony to swell
But the vexing vocalist's voice dons a deceptive gown
Then choreographed is the chorus, the chorals and bells
With a timpani to teach a trombone what it never before tried
Oh, from the choir comes the groans of ten thousand hells
And the misery music made when our romance and the rhythm died

Magic of stars and beauty unsurpassed, bath me
In the fragrance of your dew, let my heart sing
The woodland voices to outlast, here on the sunless lea
Where bats and owl invisibly pulse their wing.
Like the moon she will come soft into my arms
Laden with the bright scent of flowers in her hair
And the wind will serenade her, and love disarms
Our two fancies from the pillage of our fear.
This is the hour when life's care abate, and sweet now
The cicadas cascade their uncrinkling chorals loud
Love calls here from heart to heart in every bough
O sweet one, come now, come now and leave the crowd.
Enfold me in the ebony of your breast, give me milk
The moon cannot exceed in warm sugared whiteness
Let naked touch naked in thy diamond drizzled sheet of silk
We will feast on love, and find solace in Eden's happiness.

Divine harmonic sounds
Building heart and mind in sure
Chorals ring and circle
From heavenly reigns so pure
Angels dance, sing, and praise
In His holy endless gaze
God is ever present
His is here and fills all time
All is His forever
As He gives sight unto the mind
