Ten days afloat in a very small boat
Since watching their aeroplane sink
When one of them died the rest took a vote
There was nothing to eat or to drink

One said we should eat him to keep us alive
There should be sufficient to fill us
If some bits are poison we may not survive
How do we know which bits won’t kill us

Harry said frankly I haven’t a clue
Perhaps this will do for a start
The town of my birth hints at what I should do
It’s Hertford so I’ll eat his heart

Len said there’s logic in your line of reason
So maybe I’ll sample a sliver
My home football team won the trophy this season
It’s Liverpool, I’ll eat his liver

What about you Tom, you look a bit sick
And Tom said I know that you’re mocking
I don’t like your system so how can I pick
When I live in a village called Cocking

[Cocking is a village near Chichester, England]

Dimitri Coutya

Dimitri was born in London, comes from London,
And took a fencing option at his school one day,
Such that in 2013 he was scooped and chosen,
For a fencing talent programme, down his way.

He was knocked over by a car at the age of two,
So that he’s got a spinal injury and a wheelchair,
But he would leave swimming hands down, rue,
For his agility in his chair at fencing’s joist fair.

He began in basketball and in the sport tennis,
Then in 2009 gained two bronzes for fencing.
In Chichester and at the UK School Games, biz,
Trained in fencing in the GB squad, menacing.

He was the World Champion in 2013, dexterity,
In 2016 in the Worlds, Hungary, he won silver,
Then for the Euros 2016 won bronze for ability,
Then at the Euros in Italy he won silver, calibre.

Cities

The big debate : “What is a city ?” –
A town created by a charter
And often with cathedral church
But sometimes with an ancient abbey.

St David's, Pembroke is the smallest,
Just twelve hundred citizens
And London is by far the largest,
Populous eight million plus.

Many sprawling conurbations
Are the backbone of our nation :
There's Leeds and London, Bath and Bristol,
Canterbury, Sheffield, Hull;
Then Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh,
Norwich, Wells and Peterborough,
Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester,
Swansea, Truro, Chichester,
Worcester, Portsmouth, York and Belfast,
Carlisle, Chelmsford, Perth.

In cities there is entertainment
With cinema and theatre too,
Museum, gallery and concert hall –
A cultured way of relaxation.

A city has a green side too
With parks and gardens to explore,
Pedestrian precincts help us shop
Away from traffic noise and fumes.

I recommend a city visit,
So many secrets are in store.
Leave your car outside the ring-road,
Hop on a bus to start your tour.

Dirty Words

A young cunnilinguist in Chichester
Delighted his girl as he kissed her
His sweet talk was great
But she could not but wait
‘Till he showed her his latest tonguetwister

Premium MemberDevonshire

Devon by County
Devonshire by name
Exeter the capital
Part of England's frame

Her coat of arms
That warrants claim
Displays a red crowned lion
And Naval fame

Three sea faring Sirs
Are Devon born
Chichester, Drake - Raleigh
Nautical strong

We all come from somewhere
Not where we reside
Its from back in the past
On our ancestors tide
So where ever you are
And where you are from
On this beautiful Earth
We all belong.
