Good tribute. I loved the last of the piece. We do tend to forget what background forged us into who we are. Nicely penned.

Excellent choice of a poet to whom to give tribute. I also like the historical feel. It sends me reflecting to Carolyn Devonshire's historical poems. Great writing. D S-J

You caught me by surprise, James. Didn't know about Drake and Raleigh, but I have a great grandfather who was a sea captain in the Civil War (though his name wasn't Devonshire). Thank you so much for this lovely tribute. As a seafarer myself, it is nice to know the name is attached to sailors. Thank you so much for researching and writing this! Love to you! Carolyn

You could not have picked a more worthy subject. I for one have become a loyal fan of the Devonshire Clan. God Bless. Ron

Beautifully worded poem. Very delicate in description. Very universal yet rich in European history, not to mention every other country in the world where the United Kingdom made its mark. Lovely write!
