Cadenza Poems

Starry Night Waltz

On the velvet mantle of night,
Twinkling, twinkling, dancing stars
Drag me toward their beat
And I no longer feel weighted by gravity.

My feet leave the floor,
My arms spread wide,
I'm flying with the stars,
Their light dictating my moves.

We waltz across the galaxies,
Spinning, whirling,
Liquid motion in the air.

The moon shines on,
Our guiding beam,
while shooting comets leap by,
Adding notes to our cadenza.

In this cosmic ballroom,
As with each nuance of every bend,
I am reminded of the beauty
of letting go and surrendering to the unknown

For in this moment,
in this cosmic dance,
I am weightless, timeless, infinite

And as we twirl and sway,
I know that I am a part
of something bigger than myself
and it fills me with wonder and awe

So I will keep on waltzing
with these twinkling stars above
till the sun rises
and brings me back to earth

Premium MemberMusical Note

A harpist sent a note
That felt rather sharp.
It left me feeling flat
As a worn-out tune.

Out of rhythm and sync;
Too lento to make the play,
I lacked the harmony
To counterpoint her melody.

Cadenza like, my heart once surged;
Now it drums out a dirge.
The key to her heart
Lay with a noted composer.

This heartless rat made her a coda;
Turning her into a decomposer.

She comes to a strange world, a lustrous pearl
A cadenza of angelic beauty
Orchestrating her strange star, this wee girl
From moonbeams and sun swirls a young cutie

Not a puddle she sits, but a mirror
Of magic images that twirl and swirl.
Excited giggles at still clustered stir
she stands, jumps, and tilts in a giddy whirl

No fear in her wee world of excitement
Curious to figure out, nothing more
As her wee life unfurled with an ardent
Consistent of eagerness to explore

Ode To My Clarinet

Hours after hours of practice
Making sounds that are polished pearls
Connected by a thin string made up of
Accelerando, arpeggios, and articulation
O, what wonderful colours you have!
Measures after measures of music
Playing with deep emotions that flow
Sometimes, the stream in the green meadow on a sunny day
Other time, the ruthless ocean during a thunderstorm
O, what diverse sentiments you convey!
Days after days as time passes
Never failing to sooth the heart and the soul
Inspiring in a way that builds and constructs
Confidence, courage, pride, and esteem
O, what comfort you provide!
Rehearsals after rehearsals with the full orchestra
Stepping onto the stage of the world famous Carnegie Hall
Performing in front of a full house audience, the cadenza
In Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underwood Overture
O, what memorable experiences you bring!

Premium MemberUnbroken Rhapsody

Music blended with nature's dark, unbroken cadence and rhapsody.

Waves crashing vigorously, reverberating in my mind with the graceful notes of
the piano, the fragrance of wet foliage and the perfume of wildflowers mingling,
I perceive a view of inspiration for this poet's muse.

Twittering, chirping birds wrapped in the cadenza of a gentle flute drifting, a
bouquet delicate, and pleasing, entwined in the scent of the forest, my wandering
spirit comes closer for a sweet magical glimpse.

The whisper of the wind, a symphony tangled with the violin's quivering, throbbing
melody, such redolence, this penetrating overture for my soul, I lift my eyes to
God's painted sky, gazing beyond the clouds, floating in this unbroken rhapsody.

Snow Song

Snow Song

Tonight, just this once, I need everyone to agree with me
To see what I see, the reality they refuse to believe.
Tonight just once, I need to set the her inside me free,
A note on a stave, no longer chained to a melody.

Tonight just this once I need to spread open paper wings.
Crepe veils of iridescent UN discovered things.
Tonight I need to listen to the snowflakes and icicles sing.
To glissade down crystal branches around the moons silver ring.

Tonight for an instant, I am going to feed into the delusions
Stretch wide and far past the restraints of being human.
Tonight, casting stars in all the cracks of perfect ruin.
Silken circles of multifaceted and attractive confusion.

Tonight I’m embracing all the questions with unknown answers.
No longer resenting the figure eights of life’s pirouetting dancer.
Tonight I can relate to the hunger of this soulless obsidian cancer.
Watery lips, azure finger tips this beautiful cerulean disaster.

Tonight through new eyes, I travel forgotten trails
And release a single burning breath I never got to exhale.
For Tonight my soul’s voice finally spells her tale
A pearlescent cadenza of falling snow, innocent and pale.
