Starry Night Waltz

On the velvet mantle of night,
Twinkling, twinkling, dancing stars
Drag me toward their beat
And I no longer feel weighted by gravity.

My feet leave the floor,
My arms spread wide,
I'm flying with the stars,
Their light dictating my moves.

We waltz across the galaxies,
Spinning, whirling,
Liquid motion in the air.

The moon shines on,
Our guiding beam,
while shooting comets leap by,
Adding notes to our cadenza.

In this cosmic ballroom,
As with each nuance of every bend,
I am reminded of the beauty
of letting go and surrendering to the unknown

For in this moment,
in this cosmic dance,
I am weightless, timeless, infinite

And as we twirl and sway,
I know that I am a part
of something bigger than myself
and it fills me with wonder and awe

So I will keep on waltzing
with these twinkling stars above
till the sun rises
and brings me back to earth

This is so mellifluous- stars are such a comfort, I am comforted even as I know how small I am in the cosmos- stars are content with that, even though there's what- millions. trillions, infinite- <3

Your comment is a waltz of its own, Paige--soft, infinite, and full of grace. Yes, the stars comfort us by simply existing, by not needing to be anything more. I'm so glad the poem offered you a little of that same peace.
