"For those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing as separation"
~By Rumi
Decked in floral wreaths and crown
as I lay in state among family and friends
with my spirit wading through strands forlorn
where lamps shone bright in celestial gleam
bordering a land of bliss out of mortal reach
where neither canker blights, nor flowers wilt
where sorrow never enters and all shall be blest
where each head like the sun aureoled
where God in all His glory doth reign
I saw through my slumber deep, as through a veil
my loved ones grieving great, my journey
unreturned to an untravelled land.
There was crying and whining, sighing and sobbing
in stirring memory of days in all goodness spent
and of bonds stretching beyond life's rim
which set me feel sick of where I was and where I wasn't
so fain to go, so fain to stay,
like a spinning midge,
my spirit veered high and low
between Heaven and Earth
between Mortality and Immortality.
a helium balloon buoyant in the air.
The Business of Autumn
David J Walker
1. The season of dry clouds and Canada Geese
Arrived over the weekend
2. The weatherman says the freeze was
too light last night to have been noticed
3. A frost is in the forecast but rescheduled
for some other tomorrow
4. The full moon demands homage
deserving its observations
5. before the sun sets
on another harvest
6. The farms have formed seas of
ripe corn and white cotton
7. bordering a thousand small towns
in every direction
8. allergens release in the winds the
invisible seeds of misery
9. The last days and nights of the whine of
cotton gins bailing good fortune
10. The business of autumn comes to an end
On the fairway of a county fair
11. The next rain will be cold and will
Hold its verdict … Ice or snow…
until after Thanksgiving
SCARS
Take a long look,
visualize.
Do you see the scars,
countless as the stars?
As an infant my frame,
was flawless faultless.
But the world had to imprint,
its indelible ink.
Or so I think,
daily on the brink.
Of the Titanic sink,
until the Absolute Power towers.
What is left is evident,
pronounced and eminent.
Now bordering a new season,
I have a handful of reasons.
To relent despite much sand,
down the hourglass already spent.
Yet the voyage seems longer,
with my resolve not growing stronger.
Take a long look,
visualize.
Do you see the scars,
countless as the stars?

African Elephant
To the small German town came the circus and it
had amongst many animals also an old elephant.
One morning it broke loose and took to the woods
where it met a man of seventy-five out early to
pick wild flowers for his wife, the elephant charged
killed him, to make matters worse ate the flowers.
Death comes in many forms, but this was a surprise.
The animal was shot, where could it possibly hide
a tiny forest bordering a little town and a motorway.
The keeper of the elephant cried too they had been
together for twenty years and could not understand
why his trusted friend had gone mad.
