Premium Memberlisten To The Wind

Listen to the wind:
it roars, it murmurs,
righteously chants --
In gusty breaths, exhales, rants,
tempestuously pants.
             In tyrants it wails --
             tearing sleeves
             and billowing sails.
It reddens, it pales
the ruddy faces of non compliant seamen
and blithering, pompous beached whales.

Perhaps this poem, too hastily sown
Should have read the rules
before breeze and blown
and not so far from the guidelines would
this pen have wont to roam. But in hindsight,
wind stirs in many out of main focus ways
blossoms beyond bordered-grid of a well centered garden
in orphaned airs, for some, yet, may glisten their sways --

Premium MemberHyena too Squirrely for his Siblings

Most hyenas are not predictable but Squirrely was the weirdest of all
So strange, he was thrown out of the pack when he was a cub
He’s just so unusually and blatantly odd, said his sister, Maul
Squirrely is beyond the realm of fantasy said his brother Chub

They did not like his smile and his laugh bordered on the insane.
He gallops around like a goat, a donkey, a llama and a horse
He had hair so messy, it was brushy too like a lion’s mane
His family did not like him, but his grandma took him in of course.

Squirrely had a marvelous life with his loving Gran.
Until she died and went to the promised land.

Premium Memberwhy do turtles come to my yard

turtles come up to my yard all the time
not sure why
or even if it is hundreds of turtles
or the same turtle hundreds of times

I have no lake or lagoon
I live in a meadow surrounded by woods
we are bordered on the south by a creek
a marsh lies to our east

are they traveling to
or traveling from?
I will never know
even if I reincarnate as a turtle

Beauty Abounds

Beauty Abounds

Beauty abounds, and bursts of brilliant sun are born,
with the breaking day on this beautiful morn.

Beveled bark blooms buds of brightest green
bordered with berries and blossoms in between.

The balmy breeze blows baby's breath seeds,
into the brown and broken weeds.

A brook babbles between the sun-bathed banks
Bubbling and brewing and bringing thanks.

Downstream, as bluebirds begin to bathe in the bay
We breath in the bounty and the beauty, of this blessed day.

Highway Signs

The big green ones are everywhere,
next exit in half-a-mile,
they seem almost reassuring,
all done up in the same style.
Then smaller ones bordered in blue,
with promises of food to eat,
the big chains and local diners,
places to stop and take a seat,
then more such signs with the same look,
but this time it’s lodging and gas,
don’t really need a place to sleep,
though I could really use some snacks…
A small sign with a stadium
for the minor league hockey team,
there’s rumors they might move next year,
happens every decade, it seems.
And then there is a really big sign,
it stands tall in a farmer’s field,
hawking Indian casinos,
with their fantastic weekend deals.
ever so often, by exits,
I see symbols on a high pole,
visible near a mile off,
telling me here burgers and sold.
And sadly, there’s a blinking sign,
a warning to slow for road crews,
it never fails, they’re always out
when I have got something to do.

Premium MemberA Signal

Your soul have signalled you feel better
So you could call, or message me
I check my box if there’s your letter
To realize again that sea
That lies between us, is too deep
The earth is bordered and too vast
And now of course, you need more sleep
Sleep heals from troubles, cleans the past
Sometimes your memory reminds
About me, but then again
Distraction comes, with all that binds
Yourself with things that still remain.

Face in the Crowd

For a moment I imagined
seeing your face in the crowd,
Smiling, as if it were expecting
To see me, and as the joy
Of a lifetime of love cascaded
Through my being I wanted to shout:
 “Here am I!”
Alas, your features morphed
Into stranger’s face,
And my reaching being gasped
As if being deprived
Of the last of my strength.
Oh, sweet soul!
I close my eyes
And clench my eyes and fists
At the thought that I would
Have to walk, alone, again
Along the ivy-bordered lanes
And gravel-strewned footpaths
Telling myself that the strength
Of my memories of you
Will sustain me through life…

Premium MemberAmerica, Safe and Secure

To the East, to the West
  bordered by seas
  America seemed safe and secure...

  Twin Towers up in flames
Her southern border down the drain ~
America's imperiled where before it was sure

Premium MemberWandering

Not physically but mentally
as I reckoned with
my precarious situation
caused by years of
philosophical indifference
bestowed upon myself
while I was skipping
to and fro through
the minefields of existence
wondering where I was heading
with a gleeful exuberance
that bordered on naivete
Now I felt as if I had
been kidnapped by circumstances
As if things were
spiraling out of control
But I knew
deep down inside
that if I remained
calm and balanced
things would work out

Dark Etched by Light

A latticework of frozen sky
sharply defines iced over arboreal statues,
sleeping tree-figures
now dressed in glittering white.

The fields are sunken in chill mists,
magpies forage through the stiff rags of scarecrows,
their black and white plumage
separating shadows from light.
All is bordered by background shapes.

I walk along a windswept wooden fence,
coat flapping loosely like blackbird wings,
in this whiteout I also standout,
painted as I am,
by the rapid sketches of my breath.

Premium MemberSong of The Cracker Butterfly No 4: ABAB

Mountains, and forest, but wetlands, favored,
but what do they know, they're just their pinups.
The whole South to Arizona's, bordered ...
trees and boulders serve their choice of hole-ups.
Cracker Butterflies, wings flapping sounds named,
be protecting domains or mating calls.
Speckled species ruse camouflaged proclaimed,
hangout mid-afternoon, ... plus, if rainfalls.
Twenty of their kind, perched heights notes which kind.
Birds are the death of them, ... Jacamars, lead,
--shared realms. Defense-like poison is defined
as pointless, hence, disguised tactics succeed.
Diet: fruit rot, dung, and tree sap-sweet gum.
Placement perched will measure the life of them.

Premium MemberShe Is Bereavement

Beneath a night veil bordered with black roses,
such a pallid, yet beauteous face,
nightingales nestled at her feet.
She's adept at knowing when to let
herself in.
She sits, sighs of sorrow,
ebony shadowed dreams.
She is bereavement-
Depression's sister.
Stars weaved in her long raven tresses,
scattering tears,
cruelly tightening cords of thorns-
around my fragmentary,
out of life's rhythm,
barely beating heart song. ~

Gnarled

It was a pristine town,
Recalcitrant to taking off her ancient gown,
The houses brought back memories,
The ones got from ancient stories.

The town was bordered by trees,
It was also flanked by hills,
The trees were old, rough, and twisted,
I had some of their names listed.

I met an old sage,
He asked me to guess his age,
It was a difficult task for me,
He was calm like a tranquil sea.

I've never seen a town haloed by nature,
And of an exuberant stature,
An experience I'll forever treasure,
The passage of time can't foster its erasure.

Premium MemberFrost's Forever Joke

Have you not felt that subtly zany urge
That blinding flash of wonder’s pulsing surge
Rippling across your tingling hairs
that silent shout “go on, nobody cares”

Then leapt across the chasm of your doubt
Strayed off your path to seek another route
Challenging Frost’s inane “Road not Taken”
Sat alone and chewed on day old bacon.

To questions, this bane of misdirection,
A future’s upcoming intersection
No road signs just the two divergent paths
Bordered by two wanderers taking baths.

Therefore, I wait for towel and soft soap
And soak myself in Frost’s forever joke.
