Overexertion

Perpetual
Intellectual
Mother
Just another
Smother, then cover
“Too weak to recover”
“Be our good maid”
“Just to be betrayed”
“Don’t give her a voice!”
It’s not love if there’s no choice.
To deal with perpetual self-assertion
The old sisterhood of overexertion!

Fate bestowed a bitter gift
A curse more grave than death’s drift
A life where they were lured and torn
Left gasping, alone, forlorn
Once the universe had lost them
Cruel hands never let them astray
Their trials, none atoned
Their weary souls never left alone

Battles fought, voices shorn
Our bodies spent, our spirits worn
No rest, no vindication, no excursion
Just the classic sisterhood of overexertion!

TRAGIC QUEEN

Anne Boleyn Courted Disaster
Eventually, From Gruesome Henry.
If justifying Kingly Love,
Must Nurture Offspring Prince.
Queen Really Struggles Trying.
Unfortunate Victim With X-chromosomes.
Yuck. Zap!

Premium MemberIn Pacifica

In Pacifica
I despise that portrait of me.
The likeness ends
with the name.
Yes, Jane Seymour, unbeheaded
Queen of England.
No, not of pinched thin lips
and sharp bird-beak nose.
Those hideous wimples
tented on over plucked foreheads
displaying protruding toad eyes....
I was not the smoldering gypsy beauty
of Anne Boleyn
nor the loud, youthful
excess of everything
Katherine Howard
but look what their beauty cost them:
one head apiece.
I was pretty in my watchful, rich-wombed way.
I carried a King in my devoted belly
and a great love for my cousin-husband,
a fondness for estranged young Mary
and a fervent wish for peace.

I carried the scent of my beloved garden
sweet forsythia
nor the harlot’s stink of
Paris and promiscuity.
I was loathe to undergo
a coronation

I did not want to be Queen
and yet here I am,
the only wife to receive a queen’s funeral
and share a tomb
with the Beheader.

Silent Watcher

SILENT WATCHER

Oh the things she's seen,
Pterodactyls swooping low,
Nagasaki all aglow,
Iceage creeping over land,
Maradonna's cheating hand,
Armstrong making one giant leap,
Humpbacks singing in the deep,
Tutankhamen's golden face,
Unbeaten Frankl's final race,
Titanic's iceberg breaking free,
Anne Boleyn on bended knee,
Stonehenge rising from the plain,
Halley's comet passing again,
Nelson falling, duty done,
Oswald and that fateful gun,
Orbit fixed, she glides on by,
Silent watcher in the sky,
None can match her constant stare,
And to her beauty none compare.

Premium MemberThe Legacy of Anne Boleyn

She stands all alone in a court full of men
An innocent woman condemned
The charges are great, she's resigned to her fate
She knows she will die in the end

Though she is in despair she's standing tall there
She knows she has committed no sin
But these cowards, these men will find her guilty and then
Seal the fate of Queen Anne Boleyn

On the 19th of May that terrible day
From her room in the tower she's taken
If they thought she cry and plead not to die
They were very mistaken

With words clear and strong she denies any wrong
With no quiver or break in her voice
The swordsman stands by with a tear in his eye
But he knows that he has no choice

One swing of the sword as she praises the Lord
And she's gone in the middle of prayer
The King is away he is hunting that day
Its clear that he doesn't care

That sword gave her peace it gave her release
It finished the fear and the pain
“Death rocked her to sleep and her memory we keep
Each May again and again

Anne's death wasn't in vain though she suffered great pain
Her daughter went on to be
A wonderful Queen, the best there has been
That was her great legacy.

Premium MemberNessie and Other Myths

Fiction or fiction? I say fiction

how about youse guys?

most people WANT to believe in magic

so they keep the door open

no harm and sure does boost

tourism dollars for those thrifty Scots

don't blame them do you?

to this day, Anne Boleyn still haunts

the Tower of London

who are we to dispute these so-called myths

although the human mind is capable

of all kinds of strange images and illusions

the lure remains all these years later

keep an open mind is my philosophy

I know, I know what you're thinking

he's into the sauce again!!!

wouldn't it be so amazing that if one day

Nessie came up on land

for a picture-taking session and talked to CNN

NOW I'M JUST BEING SILLY...

Three Catherines, Two Annes and a Jane

Six wives - three Catherines, two Annes and a Jane
were married to Henry in the course of his reign.
An Anne and a Catherine met their end by the axe.
Anne Boleyn was too haughty, Catherine Howard too lax.

Henry's very first wife was Catherine of Aragon,
both pious and faithful, a virtuous paragon.
Producing no sons, she incurred a divorce.
Anne of Cleves followed a similar course.
Her face was spotty; she had bad teeth and bad breath.
Don’t trust a portrait, the wise man saith..
Jane Seymore very sadly died as she gave birth.
Henry's last wife, Catherine Parr, was a woman of worth.
More a nurse than a playmate, she bathed Hal with affection
and did a good job to relieve his dejection.

Envoi
So that's the close of this ditty,
which I think is rather a pity.
No, I'm not the Poet Laureate,
as the Royal Court never saw to it.
If I were paid to do so,
I'd keep writing like Robinson Crusoe.

Premium MemberForbidden Fruit: a Collab: Pc-Cd

The dancing flames lit up her hair
In shades of dark and light
She looked at me with longing eyes
That sparkled in the night.

I know, she said, what you desire
The fruit that longing seeks
She looked me straight into the eyes
I watched her burning cheeks.

I will give all and be your slave
As long as you are mine
We shall make love ‘til dawn is here
And drink the sweetest wine.

She threw herself into my arms
And kissed my waiting lips
I held her tight; could not resist
Her undulating hips.

Our passion’s fire burnt all night long
Each movement – tenderness
I wished this bliss we could prolong
Profound togetherness.

When morn’s first rays peered through the pane
Lace curtains etched our skin
A tapestry of silk domain
She was my Anne Boleyn.

But fantasies evaporate
When light is shed on them
Forbidden love seemed to berate
How tarnished was our gem.

One night we shared, but ne’er again
Could we pursue our lust
Her husband, he was my best friend
We’d violated trust.

Premium Member'enry the Viii's Vi Wives

Seems King 'Enry The Eighth in 'is choice of wives wasn't all that judicious.
To 'Is Grace's regret they were either too ambitious, promiscuous or capricious!

'E solved such prickly matters for five of them by divorce or grisly be'eadation!
'E 'ad to protect 'is own somewhat dubious reputation as 'ead of the nation!

Anne Boleyn and Kate 'Oward lost their 'eads to the dreaded axe,
For being a tad froward with 'Enry and with morals somewhat lax!

Marriages to Anne of Cleves and Kate of Aragon were conveniently dissolved.
Jane Seymour did 'er duty giving 'im a male heir, then died - crisis solved!

Kate Parr was widowed when King 'Enry crossed that mysterious River Styx,
But 'is five other wives as 'istory records, were left in one 'ell of a fix!

My Catherine of Aragon

I love you
mi princesa
much like Henry VIII
should have loved Catherine...

I will never forsake you
or betray you
as he did to she
one day you shall bare a son...

God is on our side
no need of Pope
there will be no divorce
No Anne Boleyn...

We are secure in our castle
we declare, "we are."
between roses I am born
with you I am alive...

Never will you be forgotten
together we grow old
you will always be my queen
in threads of silver and gold...

Premium MemberTudor Court

Oh, aren't they grand
Love comes dancing
hand in hand

Bowing to each other
Fluttering lashes all around
From the yoke of sensual bondage

You leave me wanting more
Needing drops of grace to save me
The lust of my youth still cries out

With a touch of his fingers to skin
He would rekindle her lust even higher
With a twinkle in his eye, he bows to her

A garden I have, which, has never been touched
Though, he is a proud gardener I can tell
Therefore, lord, protect me from my thoughts

For the bloody butcher, has me at his will
I beg of you, keep my thoughts from me
Let him not take it from me, as the others before me

Was watching "The Other Boleyn Girl" Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Erica Bana from 2008. Someone might try casting king Henry with red hair since he was a redhead.

Noli Me Tangere--Ode To Anne Boleyn

"Noli Me Tangere"--Ode to Anne Boleyn

Beguiling and strong willed,
Thick hair and black eyes--
Average beauty at best--
Maneuvered Court, so skilled
(Though taunted by their lies)
The King you put to test.

Oh, dear Anne Boleyn!
You chose not your fate.
'Twas your father's sins:
Greed would not abate
His ambitious yens.

So, Queen you were--
Amid the hate--
The peoples' cur;
King's sonless mate

Bearing one
Queen to be
Of England's

Future
'Golden

Age'.

Soul Mates Henry and Anne

 ~Henry & Anne~
Henry spied Anne, a beauty to his eyes
She answered the call to his innermost longings and sighs
Catherine his wife did not beget the heir he desired above all.
Anne the would be mother,Henry wanted, she did him so enthral.
Bedding Anne, this raven haired beauty
Would be a delight and not a kingly duty

His feelings ran deep for this girl Anne, he cast off his wife faithful and true…
He gave up his adherence of faith for Anne Boleyn and the chance of a little heir too.
He made himself head of the church for his desired soul-mate
But with all this machinating she didn’t know he had signed the young girl’s fate.

Anne knew she would be the soul-mate of a king
She planned and she schemed to grasp that wedding ring
The soul-mates did plan for their wedding and sons
To be announced to the world by the firing of guns.

But the soul mates did part in about a thousand days
As her head left her shoulders under the axe man’s steely gaze
Soul-mates they thought- but not forever did they last
One cannot plan a soul-mate those dice have to be cast.

A King's Love

Dressed in a red petticoat
And grey damask gown
Trimmed with fur
She walked to the scaffold

Recalling her king’s love
Denying charges against her
Thinking of her daughter

She knelt upright and prayed

The swordsman sliced her head
From her thin neck
But there was no coffin, no funeral
No grieving husband’s tears

A workman gathered her remains
Placed them in an arrow chest
And the queen was buried
In an unmarked grave.
