Best Yugoslavia Poems

Premium Member Rip Mark Taff Langley

Devastated at the news I've heard.
Totally shocked this is absurd
The passing of a Welsh legend
Proud to have served my butty friend.

He started his long career
As a proud Welsh infanteer
He then transferred to the Corps
His knowledge he used thats for sure

I first met taff in the Adriatic
In a place we all called FRY
Former Republic of Yugoslavia
For those that don't know why

Taff was known to do silly things
But one that comes to mind
Being pumped up a scam 12
Blind just leading the blind

He earned a commendation whilst in Afghanistan
As multiple commander he looked after every man
A real genuine gentle man who liked a practical joke
His favourite tipple was vodka and coke

The next verse is for you
Reading from above
I hope it hits a chord baloo
Also for those that you love

Gwneud hyn yn Gymraeg i chi er fy mod i'n teimlo'n las eich calon oedd calon y ddraig Gymreig chwedl a pharagon

Doing this in welsh for you
even though i'm feeling blue
your heart was that of the welsh dragon
a legend and a paragon

I apologize now if my grammar is wrong
Like butty would say you f*****g mong
When you served you were a "RELAY"
Not one if gods chosen what can I say

The black dog was on his shoulder
I know It's a crap place to be
I'm gutted brother soldier
You didn't shout out to me

My condolences to the family
The brotherhood does feel your pain
R.I.P Brother Mark Langley
Until we meet again

So save all of us a seat at the bar.
With Tony, Mac, Ange, to name but a few.
You have left behind your family and friends
We all miss you!!!!

Premium Member The 90s

I somehow missed the nineties
As far as pop culture was concerned
I spent a lot of it overseas
Watching as the Balkans burned

I had learned Russian for the Army
But the Russian Bear was no longer wild
About the time they reunited Germany
I gained a brand new wife and child

With the fall of the Soviet Union
I thought the world might finely be sane
Then I cross trained into Serbo-Croatian
As Yugoslavia went up in flame

The Army was not a free ride
I did several deployment rotations
Monitoring war crimes like genocide
Or in Macedonia with the United Nations

The nineties ended quietly
At least from what I remember
I was focused then on family
Until that fatal 11 September

World Peace

From Andover to Anaheim
Bangor to Boise
People speak up
Come on, get noisy

From Carteret in Jersey
To Cameroon far away
Speak up everyone
If just for one day

From Detroit to Dallas
Eaton to Ecuador
Come on everyone
Speak up some more

From France and to Finland
Ghana to Greece
People speak up
To bring about peace

From Halifax to Haiti
Indiana to Iraq
If we all scream up
Peace might just come back

Jerusalem to Jersey
Killarney to Kildare
Peace can resurface
If together we share

Lisbon to Lima
Michigan to Maine
Let’s make one voice
For peace is the gain

Netherlands to New England
Oahu to Oslo
Come on everyone
Let’s give it a go

Poland to Pittsburgh
Queens to Qatar
With peace in our pockets
We all can go far

Roxbury to Riverhead
Salisbury to Siam
We’ll acquire the peace
Just as we plan

Togo and Tobago
Uruguay to Ulster
It can all come true
If we’re ready to muster

Venezuela to Venice
Wyoming to Whales
Keep peace in our sights
Our plan will not fail

To get to our Xanadu
We just cannot stop
Keep screaming for peace
We’ll soon see the top

Yugoslavia to Yemen
Zimbabwe to Zaire
Once peace has been gotten
We’ll have nothing to fear

Come on everyone! Scream!

Genocide

As dark as night
You are nothing but agony
Misery ,separation, cries , death ,hate

Perpetrators once my
Friends, neighbors, colleagues, companion
Transformed to haters.

GERMANY , EX YUGOSLAVIA ,RWANDA ,BURUNDI
You patrolled with negation
See ,see now they walk
Head bend ,shame on their faces
doubts in them , repentance they seek
We pardon them, come changed compatriots

Click clack boom boom
Click clack boom boom
Cling cling chop chop
Babies, women ,men ,young ,old
Down, hmm.

Never ,never again

Premium Member Back To Her

After the Sunday service, searching back to her
For a date. He will soon be walking back to her.

Bottle rockets popping over the Sacre Coeur.
She suddenly kissed him; he then leaning back to her.

Leave ending, the soldier takes the Gare de l’Est train.
Just outside, from his window, waving back to her.

She travels east by train. He travels south by train.
A weekend in Strasbourg, him meeting back to her.

“Hey! You have another letter. What did he say?”
She reads aloud. He’s always writing back to her.

Five-mark coins clank in the West German phone.
“Je t’aime” heard at her “boulot”; calling back to her.

The Army okayed it. His mother flew over.
Her father was there for the wedding back to her.

First residence in Sohren. First of two munchkins,
Playing under a chair, then crawling back to her.

All night in the post’s delivery room,
Holding her hand. Love sending back to her.

TDYs learning Serbo-Croatian
Through Germany commuting back to her.

Yugoslavia dies as a nation -
U. N. Peace Keeper writing back to her

From Operation Iraqi Freedom
Telephoning, emailing back to her

Now a civilian, travels behind him,
He’s always nearby, staying back to her

Commuting between Monterey and Salinas,
Both approaching retirement, driving back to her.

The Warrior Poet and his wife walk the old dog.
“Hurry Bella.” “Come on girl.” Whistling back to her.

My Bones Will Finally Get Their Cloak

Memories are walls
desecrated by graffiti of remembrance

well intentioned people
all around
and me
playing that „warm rabbit“ game
(take a guess who the rabbit is)

it feels like I'm one of those happy faces on Kerouac's road

I feel like an idiot

it has to feel like that when you deliver a piece of self so other can step on it
even though stepping on it was not intended
but
not knowing what to do with it
they just step on it

when mistake acquires a form of face
leave some words unspoken – they taught me

it is nicer to be humanly than fashionably conscious – they taught me

so i just have a message for you: eat ****,
you have devoured all of my cookies anyway so
by academic degree
babbitry of yours couldn't be washed – they failed

when iron clew entangles in your chest
oversleep
it will go away
it always does – they failed

wrist is accustomed on postponement
and I have forced expression
for every urbanely pickled photography

that whore karma laid down one nice slap on my cheek
well
on what is left of it

****

... man is it's evolution

* warm rabbit was notorious practice in jail for political prisoners in Yugoslavia (Goli otok) where when a new prisoner came prison guards would forced prisoners to line up in two rows and new prisoner had to walk through and other prisoners were forced to beat him with any object available until prison guards said it's enough.

Persons Responsible For Violations

in the territory
of former Yugoslavia there are some war crimes
in the territory of former Yugoslavian crimes are the subject
and persons are responsible of mass graves
in the territory of former Yugoslavic
individual and institutional
racist behavior
are responsible for the greatest violations of human rights
in the territory of former Yugoslavia as around the world directly -
indirectly you can buy an express ticket
at the tourist information
and behind the rail way station
read the names of those responsible
of war crimes around the world
you can as well visit another country
buy another rail ticket
to German then the culture of silence
may build another wall around you

Premium Member Wars One and All

War at Kurukshetra (Bharat) was great,
Where human and divine face to face met;
Arjuna and Pandavas won the tough war,
Arrogant powers of Gauravas brunt bore;
Could this be compared to Goliath-David?
Where humility and faith in God got elated;
Though won and gained glories abundant,
David depended on divine triumphant;
Arjuna, in Kurkshetra war, knew his power,
Yet pleaded the power of God to empower;
God too heeded him and came to his help,
Does God leave the children just to self-help?
Though the war was fought long-long ago,
Implications of it make us many miles go;
When we’re wearied and need God’s favor,
He’s ready waiting to hold our hands ever;
Amidst sufferings and shadows of pain,
Decease and death and physical corruption;
Hands of God is ever extended over us,
His footprints guide and safely lead us;
Kurukshetra war or Israel-Palestine fight,
Buddhist uprising or Chinese conflict;
Abyssinia or Somalia or Yugoslavia,
Lebanese fights or wars of Pakistan-India;
Humans should control the surging ego,
Or fall will go before their pride does go;
Forgetting divine power if we proceed,
History will forever to involution recede…

Obsession

Obsession
The pianist Albert has got a job in Loulé last time
I saw him in Faro and fell over a pollard, he said
he was not my father. When he spotted me he ran
into a café, they let him run through the kitchen
into the back, a dead end; I waited for him there.
“If you don´t stop following me I will have to call
the police, I´M NOT YOUR FATHER.” To mollify
him I said: “ I know you are not, but I do admire
your piano playing. ”This pleased him and we had
a drink and he told me he came from Yugoslavia,
had wanted to be a concert pianist, but there was
no money, so he ended up as a café pianist… just
as my father I thought but said nothing… then he
had to leave for work, saw him walk out of my life
just as my father did, there was nothing I could do
to stop this man who refused to be my dad.

Maldives Is Not Bad Dives, My Time To Offer Prayer During Corona

Maldvies, Malaysia, Malta, more - Up for my prayer during Global Pandemic

LORD, I humbly greet You, return to my prayer list with "M" countries
(I would like to intercede for Mexico, so close to the "troubled" US brother)
Adoration is the FIRST STEP in prayer (That's how I begin) using A-C-T-S
The letters, not the word, A for adoring Him, C for confession of sins
Variety & Individuality in prayer, but these steps are essential (O Monaco!)
I intercede, Abba-Father, for countries who are in LOCKDOWN, this crisis
At the start I thought I wouldn't recall the small: Malta, Marshall Islands!
Or newer nations now in Europe, perhaps a few from former Yugoslavia

Pray for those in Africa (glorious names): Mali, Morocco, Mozambique;
Other islands did well with tourism before the Covid-19 global pandemic
We ask for economic relief and solutions for little Mautritius, larger Mauritania,
Monaco, Mongolia, Myanmar, the newer nations, Moldova and Montenegro
Last but certainly not least, Malawi, in South-central Africa, named as a Lake
LORD, show mercy to us all, in Jesus' Name, to those "named and unnamed"

NOTE: I have not structured this form with iambic feet or any other meter. I found this form suits my faith in Jesus as LORD, closest to how I feel: SONnet

Adventure Days

Adventure Days
They say a cornered man will fight till the end
For simply has nothing to lose
Except his life when the cards are revealed
The dice is rolled balls to the wall kaput
You know what I mean no more examples
Need to be said but one final example
That of Ukraine in February 2022
Since late 2021 the nation has been
Threatened by Neo Soviet Russia
Surrounded on 3 sides by hostile land
The 4th side is water which they can own
NATO flew in Javelin and Stinger missiles
To kill tanks choppers and jets
The Ukrainians have enough bullets
Most made in Russia or the Soviet Union
To kill their fellow brothers who turned
On them in the worst case of cabin fever
That Europe has seen since Yugoslavia
And Marshall Tito's precious union died
This will be far worse than that
Could kill millions ruin Europe the world
Trigger World War 3 like a Tom Clancy book
Or a video game or heavy metal song or film
But this little escapade by Putin is real
He re-armed Russia and wants his empire back
He's part way there but millions will refuse
To be ruled from Moscow and be proxies again
Those days are gone except in his rabid mind
Soon his army must be used or go home
It is tiring and costs millions to be ready
The 200,000 Russian Red Army at readiness
Waiting for the order to invade their kin
Over the border brothers and sisters
Many with dual nationality and identity
But Ukraine is a sovereign nation
And will fight back as they've done since 14
When Putin the Dog annexed Crimea
And took East Ukraine which he still holds now
He wants the rest and for them to be his
Never ever join NATO and be European pals
Plus allied to the Yankees his worst nightmare
Ruining his dream the world their lives WHY???

Inadequate Sleep Exspells Volatile Mental State

Inadequate sleep ex(spells) volatile mental state

Existential crisis ensued,
hence the following
I attempt to relate
forewarning the missus,
who heard bellicose me loud and clear
excoriate, deprecate, communicate
callously, blisteringly, angrily... expostulate
refrain awakening this sleeping spouse
yours truly unapologetically will berate

forgetting self promise
vowing never to castigate,
yet flush with red hot poker rage
out nostrils steam doth emanate
analogously soused madman
ranting and raving
seething venomous, obstreperous,
iniquitous, ferocious... hate.

Violent monstrous, horrendous,
atrocious... beastie boy awoke
reconciliation with goo goo doll broke
bitter bile doth choke
experiencing helplessly shape shifting,
whereby one fell stroke
witnesses emergent Mister Hyde

frighteningly evil doppelgänger doth cloak
easy going, mild manner Doctor Jekyll
former incarnation, where vitriol spoke
housed said baneful nightmarish spirit
killed latter personality
without so much as "ribbit" he did croak.

Back far as I can remember
best not disturb
akin to sleeping bear
wrath nobody can curb
once roused not unlike Croat Serb
War of Independence fought
from 1991 to 1995
decades long smoldering resentment

series of unfortunate events did perturb
between Croat forces loyal
to the government
of Croatia, which declared independence
impossible mission to summarize,
within couple lines
comprising poetic blurb
disintegrating Socialist Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia.

One look no further
than Greek mythology,
where said classical civilization
incorporated elaborate building blocks
to explain human

nature as well docks
side of the moon,
particularly the seven deadliest sins
unleashed out Pandora's box
I suppose more diabolical

than high school jocks,
whereby yours truly
convenient sacrificial "scapegoat"
after effects still reverberate
like chicken pox
scarred psyche, no matter

still recollect rocks
thrown at Boxer/ Dalmation
Georgie by the Daily's
when family lived
on Lantern Lane.

Premium Member Serbia and Italy

Serbia and Italy were going on a nice little walk.
Said Italy “Yugoslavia is not one to talk!”
Serbia got mad.
“Yugo is my dad!”
They ended up smacking each other, quite a little squawk.
