Best Value Poems
The things I value,
The things I cherish,
Are things no one else will
When I perish
Do I write a missive
Explaining the why?
Would this help save things
After I die?
This brown dead rose,
A gift from your dad,
Brings back the best night
I ever had.
This bead of pink
Once on a baby’s wrist
Only memory left
Barely a wisp
The things I value,
The things I cherish,
Are things no one else will
When I perish
Chosen Poem of the Day by PoetrySoup on 10-11-2018
Stop being so downcast!
Stop feeling so blue!
And please, stop caring about how many here like you!
On this planet we have but a short time here.
Don't you understand this basic truth?
There is nothing to fear!
Don't come here to be a comment collector.
Reply to comments for heaven's sake!
Please don't be just a selfish taker!
Someone took time to not only read but comment!
You let them sit ice cold, so arrogantly bold.
Some will like you, some will not.
So, laugh, get a tall, cool glass of apricot nectar,
And let the arrogant rot!
If you ever get insulted, get a screenshot!
Big whoop if poets go in another direction!
Ta-ta, au-Revoir~you don't need to be, by them, to be
detected!
The arrogant here think they are by the very God selected?
They by pass your poetry as if it were garbage, freshly collected?
You can see it in their "perfect poetry"
Always a race to be at the top of the poetry tree.
Rarely, will they comment to thee.
You must first comment to them on humble, bended knee?
Looking in mirrors, it's only themselves they see!
Just, please pen some words from your very special heart!
Not Shakespearian wannabes, such pretentious smarts!
There are marvelous poets here, genuine people
I praise them from the highest steeple!
Put on the page, whatever you feel,.above all else, be
unflinchingly real.
And when you go to bed each night, oh my.
How happy and accomplished you will be!
That you are a genuine poet not a poet-groupie!

There is much to be said about the value of friends
Those who lift us up when we try to make amends
A crutch to help us stand when we stumble and fall
Hit us with the power of truth, thrown like a fast ball
They offer welcoming shoulders to receive our tears,
Teach us the importance of choosing to change gears
To stand with us against the barbs of disgruntled foes
Refrain from judging when we've caused other's woes
Those who are patient listeners, offering us their ears
They dry our weepy eyes, smile at us and say, "Cheers."
We love their tender mercies in forgiving us our faults
Honoring them humbles us, and their character it exalts.
So many words l value
I will only mention a few
These are words l “try”to live by
Though not always easy to do
Life is an absolute blessing
Though we are truly tested at times
When my value words fly out the window
Myself l must remind ….
Thankyou and Sorry …voice them
Kindness ……A must
Appreciate……everything
Listen……we all need to be heard
Understanding….see others views
Compassion……Show to all
Judgement……Try not to make
Forgiveness……We all make mistakes
Happiness…..The best place to be
Laughter…..a healing natural medicine
Cuddle….Everyday!!
These are just my thoughts
You may think them sappy
I just want to live my best life
Enjoy my time here and leave happy!!
I am thoroughly convinced
that the value of a word
has less to do with meaning
and more about refrain --
sort of like, if it ain’t worth
repeating...it should not have
been said in the first place --
not that any word is entirely
worthless, for even the air
of a hollow, is a breath of
life for something --
sort of like, the shell of a conch
is an imaginative child’s Nautilus,
where all of Verne’s Fantastic Journeys
began, in the heart of a restless
dreamer….
All I have
of lasting value
is my heart to give
the antiques
in the attic
just gather dust
plastics become brittle
and metal to rust
cloth disintegrates
and if sentiments on cards alone
what true value is a poem?
as museums
need constant
renovation --
an indentured
in and out curator --
while the heart stays with me
everywhere I go --
awake or asleep
unlike tides that ebb and flow
my love for God is constant
enough for me that He eternally
know....
The Excelling Value of Algebra
By Elton Camp
Of everything that I’ve studied on earth,
Algebra proved to have the most worth.
From it don’t be led astray.
Later, you use it every day.
Whether you become a farmer or actor,
Many times expressions you will factor.
And quadratic equations are such a delight.
You will come to use them day and night.
It’s just wonderful to be able
To use a logarithmic table.
To succeed in life you have no hope
Unless you’re able to determine slope.
Multiplying binomials is a useful skill.
On a resume, it gives the boss a thrill.
Knowing how perfect square trinomials to solve
Can very easily be the key to getting a better job.
For inequalities to know all about
Has much practical value, no doubt.
Exponents everybody surely does need.
And to solve them with greatest speed.
Strive to learn the values of X and Y.
If you can’t, you might as well die.
Algebra is just essential to learn
If a decent living you hope to earn.
The Value of a Life
For twenty long years my father served in the Air Force.
My mother worked at home and always stayed the course.
I was born with blonde hair; I’ve been loved since birth.
I am a white man, what’s my life worth?
I own my house; I’ve worked hard my whole life.
I have two wonderful kids and an amazing wife.
I live in the country, where I hunt and fish.
I have plenty of food and I’ll always share my dish.
I am a good person, but I have an addiction so I smoke.
I love my morning coffee and the occasional coke.
I’m an American citizen, I have been since birth.
I am a white man, so what am I worth?
I am a child of God; in his image I’m made.
I’ve been stopped by police, but was never afraid.
I’ve been cursed at and kicked for what I believe.
Are any of God’s children beyond reprieve?
I believe in Jesus, and follow the laws of man.
I’m thankful and pray, whenever I can.
I love my brothers and sisters all over this Earth.
Now picture me black, what’s my life worth?
Honesty is a virtue, now preserved for the immortals,
tender trust is used to propel selfish gains,
‘you have my word’ is the oldskool meaning of ‘I’m just joking’.
Comfortably accumulating debt never to be paid,
it’s easier not to commit, but that urge never lets go,
‘I promise you’ is just a temporary gum falsely holding hope.
Action seems heavy, comfort the needed mattress,
calm to please but not so good in duty execution,
“I will” is still used but just to fulfill all righteousness.
Body is the target, the heart is the victim,
a one sided bargain, the winner is the cheat,
“I love you” is the tool to accomplish such theft.
Phrases which once gave the skies colour and the oceans character
are now mere combinations of words under most human’s feet
and then credibility of personalities continues in depletion
while corruption continues to manifest in same words and in action.
The friends I value most are “built” like me.
By this, I mean they much enjoy friendship’s connectivity!
They also are transparent; their authentic selves shine through.
My best friends are thoughtful. To each other we stay true.
We commiserate with one another; we are always there
for each other in the good times and the bad (and my friends have flair!)
We understand each other well; disagreements are quite minor.
Cherished are my constant friends, for they could not be finer!
Of all my friends, there are but a few that qualify as best!
One such friend, a lovely poetic soul, at least fifteen years now I have known.
My senior and early mentor, she has stood time’s friendship test.
Lovely on the outside too, as an airline hostess, the friendly skies she’s flown!
June 17, 2018 for Carolyn Devonshire's Qualities You Admire in Friends Contest
The friend mentioned in last verse is Connie Marcum Wong!
(Bring me your bold, meek, strong, the weak.
I reside within thee all _no matter the language you speak.)
I had a talk with Jesus and he had a lot to say.
He asked me why, when given the truth many turn away.
He thought he'd left his teachings in our good hands.
We were to spread peace and love throughout the lands.
All are welcome to the truth, rich, poor, and the downtrodden;
those that shine with the sun; and those time has forgotten.
The "Woke", the sleep; those harden, and those who weep.
For I know the words you speak_ and secrets you keep.
All know my name no matter the tongue,
the truth of my name was not limited to one.
The changing of the languages changed the game.
Now I am known not by one_ but many a name.
So pray with the language_ the origin of your start.
Prayers have more meaning when spoken from your heart.
All know my name no matter the tongue.
The truth of my name was not limited to one.
I now call on Jesus with the tongue of my birth;
that's the name for me of the most value and worth.
All know his name no matter the tongue.
the truth of his name was not limited to one.

The value of life is beyond measure,
In every moment lies hidden treasure.
Tie it with the thread of dreams,
Make each day your own, it seems.
Learn the art of living through strife,
In every obstacle, a new path for life.
With love, compassion, and truth by your side,
These are the colors where joy resides.
Time flows like a river’s song,
Memories hold where smiles belong.
The essence of life is the bond we share,
Connecting hearts with tender care.
Hear the melody in every heartbeat,
Life is a symphony, gentle and sweet.
Let’s come together to nurture its glow,
And let the colors of life forever flow.
The things that we value are lost in time
and only preserved in one's memory.
It's useless to try to capture in rhyme
as all else is changing ceremony.
I remember what it once meant to meet
or welcome a loved one at the airport.
Time spent waiting for a daughter was sweet.
Moments of recognition at the port
door was worth all the traffic to get there.
In this world terror and security
are acceptable so we must beware
and lose all the small forms of dignity
we valued a moment ago. Truth is
not war's casualty, humanity is.
Her offerings, not of words themselves
But of her, her deep inflections
She gives us light and truth and love
She gives a soul direction
The words she pens, they’re more than ink
They’re a stem of her true being
For with the words, she allows us sight
Into the very core, the meaning
So, never dare to suppress her gift
Her talents shine the true light
It would do you good, to try your best
To feel, just what she writes
In reponse to "Useless" by Kristin Reynolds

The sick elephant, perished at sunset!
Headline news, tears, anger, outrage and scorn.
A worldwide sadness, her baby just born!
Monies were collected, protests in the streets.
Medallions with her picture worn,ah, hearts so torn!
~~
A kitten walks the street alone, we save her!
We scream, "Where is humanity's soft heart?"
Organizations formed then, for feral cats.
We pour huge funds into shelters at once.
But whay of the unborn human, about to be
killed?
Sleeping, softly in their mother's warm womb?
Little fingers, sweet little toes, about to die?
Our hearts, souls, eyes, do we in denial close.
Millions upon millions, will indeed today, die.
Never to see sun, moon, stars or bluest sky.
Taken by methods too cruel to speak.
Angel babies killed in abortion mills.
The world weeps not a tear for human loss, still!
For the unborn, all, yes I will take a stand.
In a world that adores trees more than the
family of man.
A ghoulish thought, human life surrendered.
A baby is not a bad tooth to remove by any
Governments monies, freely tendered.
Sing not to me, that you love humanity!
Nor of world peace, when our own kind we kill.
Yes, aware man wants to this world control.
This world is not yours, it belongs to God.
What good, this verse, in a so very cold world?
Why! So you dare use fetal cells,I ask why?
To use them in a vaccine, you drool for?
Their cells floating in your selfish bloodstream?
We pen about the evils of truly great men?
We hum and talk to Muses, how very!!
We buried God, we loathe free nations.
Globalism only, downing, all the rest.
Then wonder, why all the worldly unrest?
Laughing our lives away, a great escape?
Reality, no, never on our plates!
Good, unborn people destroyed,oh how we do cheer.
Unethical, political thieves and snakes we adore.
As we quill, on God's sunny shores.
