Best Unprovoked Poems

Premium Member Note To Self

Encamped in the local IHOP patio
Doing reconnaissance on the butter pecan syrup
I discern its malicious, aggressive intentions:
To march defiantly down Mt. Stack
And wage a ruthless attack on
Defenseless over-easy eggs

Acting quickly, I wield my fork
Digging trenches in my pancakes
I flank the enemy, staving off
This unprovoked act of aggression
Victory!

Only in that moment do I lift my eyes and notice
A brood of young sparrows
heralding their hunger
The chevron of hang-gliding geese silently
sailing to destinations unknown
Majestic Monarchs flitting
stoically southward
And rival suitors:
An iridescent hummingbird and an industrious bee
Romantically pursuing myrtle blossoms

The canopy of cerulean blue
And all the life within its realm
Resolves my thoughts from war to peace

Don’t forget to look up

Baqreid the 2nd Eid

This day to celebrate the supreme sacrifice
of the ancient prophet Abraham
This day to ponder and reminisce
that divine substitution of Ismail for a ram!

This Quranic and biblical factual story
shall never diminish in its age-old glory

That superb reliance on and compliance with the will of God
eternally for man to learn from and applaud.

Upon his awesome trust in the unseen, let his kind marvel
and of submission, devotion to God bestow him a laurel

And now for the sake of mutual unity and festivity
first let all of humanity
release their doves of peace
and let them fly freely, unprovoked, unrestrained
with olive branches in their beaks

such that when angels who predicted
forever feuding humans
look down they see instead
6 billion or more two fingers up
in a huge mass of humanity
signalling for and meaning to keep the peace!

But mind you, world peace is to be everybody's goal
so let no one leave space for any loop-hole.
EID GREETINGS everybody.

I Remember You

I remember your eyes...
Emerald seas casting flecks of golden sun.
A lamb gently swaddled in strength of the lion's shadow.

I remember your smile...
Snow caps surrendered; the warm pulse of spring.
Night's ebony dome, shattered by light of day.

I remember your kiss...
Honey drizzles of sweet liquid amber.
Lingering soft clouds in sky's quiet still.

I remember your touch...
Feathers adrift lending whispered caress.
Love songs embraced in fireside glow.

I remember your passion...
Desire drenched in molten red; quench of explosive pleasure.
A feverishly guided brush; the masterpiece set free.

I remember your love...
Dreams manifested; unprovoked; the painted sunset.
Exposed, the rock unchanged through passing storm.

I remember you...

Premium Member To a Wasp

Oh dreaded parasitic predator,
I yield to your flitting whim
and unannounced intrusion.

Innocently productive,
you carry on your quest,
unprovoked and unassuming.

But for your merited renown,
I take preemptive action
testifying to my regard.

The sport of a cautious hunt
prompts instinct and evasion,
no match for a well-aimed swat.

And with your final writhing twitch
I find a kind of sovereign triumph
in my gleeful, gloating grin.

Premium Member Tribute To Japan

Beautiful moments each day
Reveal that sometimes only a moment away
Peaceful moments are broken with earth’s violent response
To an unprovoked attack that we wish was just once
But what rises from a devastation of life
Is a spirit revealed, born out of strife
From a people well balanced in all that matters
That even with their world in tatters
A nation’s mind, body, and spirit is revealed
In ways that should never be concealed
Respect, love and caring for your fellow man
Is a healing of all that matters in a land called Japan

Premium Member Dentist Versus Lion

A dentist bored with life in Minnesota,
decided to go hunting over in Africa.
Taking a trip far out of his way,
his destination would be the nation of Zimbabwe.
He had a desire to try and shoot some game;
using his rifle with a deadly aim.
This was another person without any shame.
For what he went and did, he had some nerve.
The dentist killed a lion on a game reserve.
This was a senseless killing without distinction.
The cat species is very close to extinction.
The government of Zimbabwe wants the hunter back
to stand trial for his unprovoked attack.
Since this hunting is illegal today,
The African nation wants the dentist to pay.

Premium Member Grief

It attacked my life like a swarm of predatory wasps
Anger, regret, pain, confusion, to ruin me at all costs
unprovoked, vicious stings to my soul, many a tear
made me hollow inside, without joy, living in fear

Unable to run or hide for their venom is already within
To snipe at my belief, questions to drive reflection of sin
Should I seek reasons, or find solace needed in a friend
My friends helped win battles, and the war inside did end

Protect and Serve?

Unprovoked attacks
Death screams from the hearts of the innocent
A child's last breath
Lies in your arms
Raise your weapon
For the sickness f****ing your mind
Protect and serve?
F*** that, let's massacre them all
Let's burn and pillage
This family's home and make them watch
Piss in this man's hands
And spit at his feet
Let bullets rain on his chest
So his children see
Protect and serve?
Intimidate and rape
They fear your "help"
And comply with tears in their eyes
And a gun to their temple
Dirt on their knees, in a pool of their father's blood
Protect and serve?
I think not.

*About a news report I recently saw, about U.S. soldiers killing innocent civilians for
sport. (This has been going on since there has ever been wars, it's not a new issue.) They
blamed it on being in a drug-induced state of mind, and on seeing disturbing images of
warfare. We debated in my class whether or not this type of murder can be justified. I
argued strongly and loudly that NO traumatization or drugged mind is a just reason to
murder and torture innocent people. The U.S. military is here to PROTECT and SERVE all
people. Does this sound like protection to you?

The Downtrodden Speak

I am baffled, stunned, dumbfounded
Completely nonplussed by the persistence
Of the international criminal court
In harassing the popularly elected Kenyan
President and his popularly elected deputy
As rogue entities terrorize Eastern Europe
The Arab World and my beloved Africa
All around us people are being beheaded
Or otherwise massacred on a whim
Innocent people who would, if free,
Choose to live and let live in peace
Rather than engage in perpetual
Callous, wanton and unprovoked
Slaughter of those they despise.

Aljazeera, BBC and CNN daily broadcast
The atrocities committed by the Islamic state
The beheadings are posted on the internet
And broadcast on radio, tv and newspapers
And while the moguls make their millions
In the dissemination of the villainy
The United Nations looks on puzzled
Or perplexed, mystified or even dazed
By the enormity or complexity of it all
Leaving me to wonder whether
This world body is not being manipulated
For the ends of a few powerful members
Who believe their fortunes would flourish
With the weakening of these regions!

If you can hear me, Ban Ki Moon
Hearken, the downtrodden moan!

Premium Member Hit Me With Your Best Shot

I was just walking down the street
when it hit me
a quick jab….followed
by a crushing right cross.
I staggered….stunned
by the suddenness of
a seemingly unprovoked attack.
Life, fate, Karma…WHAT!!!
I covered up, rolled, bobbed left,
feinted right, slid along the ropes
found the safety of the corner,
thanked Ali for the rope-a-dope.

I had forgotten the rules of life
“Protect yourself at all times”,
the bell will ring at sunrise
failure to answer the bell
will result in disqualification,
there is no standing eight count
you cannot be saved by the bell,
the bell will ring at sunset.

The sunrise bell summons me
to the center of the ring.
I touch gloves with life,
with fate, with Karma.
The dance begins slowly.
Slide smoothly but quickly,
stick, jab, counter, cover.
To date I have taken on all comers,
dealt with their strength,
outwitted and outlasted the cunning,
outpunched the punchers,
outpointed the pure boxers.

So I stand, battered, but triumphant
in the center of life, hands held high
awaiting another sunrise bell.
A wily, weathered, champion
challenging life, fate, Karma to
“HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT”
“FIRE AWAY”

Premium Member Loneliness Echoes Till Sunset

"Has solitude ever led your steps down a forest path . . . "
                                     Quote by_Constance La France

As loneliness echoes till sunset,
From restless dreams beneath forest path,
Spent; to wake in a sheen of sweat.

Past epoch made a new reset,
Awaking longing grief footpath,
As loneliness echoes till sunset.

Foliage hues fade and all forget,
With each step, deep amber earth hath
Spent; to wake in a sheen of sweat.

Wands of pine sway to the taste of wet
Chilly nights soulful aftermath
As loneliness echoes till sunset.

Nature distant calls once obscure, met,
Bleakness fades with unprovoked wrath,
Spent; to wake in a sheen of sweat.

Nostalgia's dapple scent is let
Along the river flow towpath,
As loneliness echoes till sunset
Spent; to wake in a sheen of sweat.

Premium Member Healing Words

Her words were mumbled unprovoked and put him through the grinder
minced they were tearing apart they hurt like a dagger so he finally knew
where his heart was dismembered as it stood still one sentence then silence
No stream no consciousness emotion arrested a world destroyed broken shattered

He picked up the pieces the fragments shards of an ugly mosaic coloured in black
The cutting edge of glass penetrated into frozen blood in icy veins turning tattooing
engraving the twisted knife chopping torturing where passion kindness love
had once been the messenger grinning at the grisly gristle ground to the core

With surgical precision her scalpel incised at the flesh scarred in a flash razor
wire ligatures asphyxiating suffocating mortal wounded lost mindless soul
Denervation ensured neurochemical transmitters flowing into nothing a wide open
schism fissures fission exploding with nowhere to venture a road not yet travelled

Blessed in disguise of disaster her words grew into an unlikely story of hope of
a mixture of memories retold new pathways narration novel meaning of words
No more mill stone weighing the rope round the severed necklace of horror
he found undreamt off passion with a new soulmate and lover a poet tree in motion

Weaving kindness now sensual emotional reason scribed on paper fantasy clouds
written on dreams healing momentum of moments nights and cinnamon bark
their sizzling skins their touches feelings new found beauty make love and make
loving and making love with words and with lived meaning worthwhile again

Strange sedition stealthy sets
cloaked in artificial greening phiz
some by prejudice inquiring,
“Where are you from”?
others in feigning frame avoiding,
finding paths away from you,
Though harmless your looks.
There be those secluding,
choosing space dodging.
deliberate speed the drama,
of Conceited Bias unspoken,
The loss of childhood innocence,
Deprivation infinite,
miscarriages of Justice,
preferential treatments innumerable,
spites and Obvious denigration,
strange glare on nature's kiln,
The sun made me shine little mind,
I don't envy You in this cold.
The spite, multitudinous,
The Jeers, unprovoked contumely,
At work,
The Bus,
the Malls,
The elevator,
the peevish looks,
uncertain repudiations,
Even in Church secluded,
The brief suspense at the “sacred” ground
Exclusivity,
We see it, watching in silence.
Some time too Obvious,
Unspoken Nepotism,
“We first”, You Last or voided.
The denigrating use of “Minority or Others”
As though the described are less human,
I am African, NOT "minority" or "others"
we know these sieving schemes.
In civility we ignore,
A better knowledge Leads
This dying carcass a mere container,
We are not inferior,
we are not a threat,
We are beautiful ,
We observe,
We lough at these ,
And when the manacles of Justice is snapped by the creator of colors
then shall you know,
We are all sojourners here.

Premium Member Osama Bin Laden

OSAMA
Obdurate Sadistic abductor as Machiavellian now abashed
Senseless Saboteur with Sabre sword,
Ablutions of wickedness as apology from vagrant
Mercy and peace mixed fleetingly against unprovoked America and the innocents
Abomination of true God explained as religion, hatred, wickedness, murders, and Jihad

Bin
Bigots brewing bestial behaviors before innocent kids,
Inoculated ideas of incorrigible iconoclast and unlettered extremist
Namby-pamby in acts of cruelty, yet, not man enough to face the consequence

Laden
Laden, lackluster, laggard, languid, despising better option
Abnormal spiritual schizophrenia and hallucination
Doctrinal heresies and contradictions shaming Islamic scholars
Exposing the fallibility of the questionable renown “Sacred book of blood and wars”
Now convince us again, that you bring Peace, Love or seek the Prince of Peace

Living Loveless

A breath escapes this lonely soul
jilted sigh expels it heavily falling flat
From on my back I see the stars align
  ...but only in other skies
as charcoal cumulous and birds of prey loom in mine
Each stab wound scars and scathes.
   they accumulate-

Her indifference kills in it's lack of scorn
   or spite...just apathetic attacks
Unprovoked and careless
Inclinations to instigate strife
....to bring flavorful drama to her life...
and misery to mine

I helplessly fall into these traps
seeking out affection in the dryest wells
hitting bottom and licking the stone
for it's scarcest moisture
Parched and living loveless
