Glory and Gold, Or Love and Life

our days are now numbered
as we creep into the years
we are raging into the future
yet we haven't found the wheel to steer
concentrate we must
for this world is cold
prevailing are the ones
that shall stand up so bold
when you die , if your name
is not carved in stone
the only way you shall be remembered
is letters on your headstone
for of the billions of people
in the world of today
only few know
to live one day
as if it is your last
for any day your life
may be taken in a flash
so many people are consumed
with money and power
how truly valuable is that
in our very last hour?
we base all our codes
on possession of gold
yet life is more precious
as one grows old
will you be remembered
for your insatiable greed
or will your name be imortal
by your unprecidented good deeds?
money in this day
is more than addictive
consumed by it you may
turn unexplainably vindictive
base your life not on love
but by wealth and power
yet as the question above clearly states
wealth is nothing
in a mans last hour

Captive

Vision is shadowy; I choke the steering wheel with knuckles turned white
the shifty roads are blanketed with fresh powder, day has fallen into night
a small oval portion amongst a foggy windshield was my view
traction became lost, tires slid, there was nothing I could do
I prayed to God that He would keep me safe from any harm
He must have heard because I spun out and landed in a tree farm
the skeletal infant trees did not stand up against my brawny Range Rover
if I had struck a mature oak or maple, surely it would have been game-over

once my trembling core ceased to a manageable state
I was taken aback by a heavy rod iron gate
not two seconds before, an open field of trees lied ahead
against my better judgment, slowly I decided to tread
uneasy, I glance over my shoulder to ensure my car is still there
if a gate could unexplainably appear, I feared a car could dissolve in thin air
I am impressed and terrified at the magnitude of what stood before me
I pressed my face up against the icy frame and gasped at what I did see

children; small children not aged more than eight
simultaneously detected They had a visitor at the gate
robotically, as if on cue, They began to drift toward me
cloaked in robes of slate, I fixated on a child wearing a key
the piece that hung from his neck flickered as if it were on fire
with a green stomach, I knew my situation was off-colour and dire

I attempted to address Them but all that escaped was my breath in the icy air
in chorus They froze – countless eyes offered nothing but a vacant stare
I wondered how long They had been locked up for and why
my thoughts were interrupted by a small girl’s haunting cry
my eyes searched frantically to see where the ominous iron curtain went to
my mouth tapped dry when I learned it was I, who was caged, like an animal at the zoo
anxiously I turned around when They became engrossed with something behind me
large yellow eyes cut through the darkness and my demise was all I could see

I was trapped. In order to survive I had to acquire possession of that key …

Yours...Is the Most Beautiful Smile

Yours..is the most beautiful smile,
the source of all my inspirations;
that star never fading, always outshining others...

And from it joy is emanated;
with the speed of a shooting star,
to earth it falls, for me to catch it without harm...

Mona Lisa may have the most perfect smile,
but yours is the densest and fondest;
so fresh and alive...a blooming flower awaiting light...

The Italian Renaissance's painters and poets could not have imagined
a beauty so delicate, inspiring and pure existing in my time;
Dante's passion for Beatrice turning into deprivation and desire...

What my vision beholds is unexplainably mysterious and yet simple,
purity and innocence reflecting your soul's mirror to make me gaze deeper;
entrust all your thoughts and feelings to me, and I will be your keeper...

Yours...is the rarest and most attractive smile,
and on it unblemished love can be built, a fortress outlasting time;
unafraid, share it with me to explore the wonders of this universe...

Sunshine and Daisies

I recently heard something that caught my attention
Whether it's true or not, it was worth the mention

Now I can't quote it word for word
But this is my story and what I heard

To be a writer, you must be mad
Grew up with no dad
Unexplainably sad
Your life, a mess, just downright bad
This would explain the success you've had

   I won't protest
It would be hypocritical
I must confess
I'm compulsively cynical

My head isn't filled with sunshine and daisies
I might just be, one of the crazies

Soul Mates

Two souls drawn to each other, that was fate
Attracted by the so-called force called lust
Magnetization of two scents, this was great
There was a time when love was not a must
You and I were just running away from hate
While others were searching out for dust
Constantly looking for a romantic mate

At first driven by our sexual appetite, haunted
We were so strong and unexplainably wonderful
Weeks went by, we got emotionally bonded
Months elapsed, we simply became faithful
Deeply sincere with our hearts, we collided
Our hearts exploded freeing butterflies, blissful
We became one and our selves are forever tied

Premium Member Troubled State of Mind

I feel somber and distressed.
Life is unpredictable added with stress.

And yet, at times; daily life is monotonous.
Blithe indifference to anyones lewdness.

Feeling dysphoric laden with despair.
Trying to hang on; why should I care?

Dancing with intrusive thoughts of a permanent end.
Sinking in quicksand my mind slowly descends.

Really there is no rhyme; or no reason..
For my state of mind; of its own treason.

Fighting on the grounds of the "mental battlefield".
Dropping my guard; defenseless without my shield.

Taking another step in this muddle-headed land "mind".
Unexplainably made me feel somewhat repined.

Trapped in this existence and the next...
Why does this "reality" have to be so perplexed?

A troubled mind barters with trials and tribulations.
Always wondering aimlessly full of unanswered questions.

Premium Member Poetry As Passport

Everything appearing as nothing..

Obviously the reverse of

Nothing appearing as everything..

In their turn

Each seems to propose a source..

Language seems to have

Source talk embedded..and cannot

Capture the paradox of what is

Unexplainably

Simultaneous..

Poetry may be the passport...

Premium Member Between Love and Hate

Is there a name for that place we go
Between love and hate but are afraid to show
The place where smiles turn into tears
And one more day turns into years

Do you know that place where someone's touch
Unexplainably turns from pleasure to pain
Of this place do you know of such
Where blue skies fall like rain

Where the playful wink becomes a stare
And the light you see in their eye becomes a glare
The heartfelt kisses of long ago
Now a peck on the cheek just for show

Trusting each other becomes suspicions untold
Never each other again to hold
The I love you becomes I don't care
The same dreams you no longer share

Is that place fear or maybe despair
When you realize they no longer care
Is there a name for that place we go
Between love and hate but are afraid to show

My Heart

i got a gift for you
I hope you just love it
I wrap it up in the finest paper
the only way to truly show my love I admit
I cant wait to give you the object
this polished piece I want you to own
and if I give it to you
this significance my affection Will be shown
i tied a luxurious ribbon
with the biggest perfect bow
this package is stunning I’m so excited
God your mind will be blown
I prepare my attire excited and disappointed knowing it will be my last
on my way over my confidence confirms my decision every detail’s surpassed
the rhythm resonating from the box comforts me like a newborn in the womb
although I won’t be able to enjoy your recognition from inside my marble tomb
my excitement is so overwhelming it feels unexplainably fun
I am just pleased I found my destiny
since we both know you are the one
I’m starting to feel faint
it’s OK tho I am almost there
but, wait are you having company over?
if so I was unaware
peeking in your smile has brought me the comfort I’m looking for
I take a deep breath knowing
I won’t get to enjoy it much more
my knock brought your eyes to mine
but the smile left your face
i thought you said you loved me why was it hard to trace
I was fading fast and losing consciencness starting to gasp for air
i droped my package on the floor and fell into the chair
I realized I was not alone when I looked to my right
a beautiful woman I could tell even with such dim light
you picked up my crushed box it’s Contents so clearly broken

so you shook it and threw it away, and this woman so soft spoken
“Honey maybe she need some water, I think she looks faint”
wait did she call you honey
this stranger I failed to acquaint
My once perfect container, barely recognizable
and I heard it’s last beat
“oh yeah, THIS is the woman of my dreams Dawn, I was hoping the two of you would meet”

Premium Member The Sandsquatch

Have you heard about the Sandsquatch
That used to live below beach sand
Where it could spring out from its watch
And get the upper wing, or hand

To gobble up seagulls resting
Surprising them from where they stood
But often he was digesting
Some nasty bits of driftwood

Of course that old mythical lore
When passed down seems hard to believe
About that morbid seagull gore
That plotline is hard to conceive

Yet, Sandsquatch must have kept the birds’
Population from exploding
Unlike those huge buffalo herds
Before their tragic railroading

It’s not far-fetched, there could have been
The sporadic cave child or man
Grabbed right from their ramshackle den
If built on or nearby beach sand

Yet ancient records have stated
That after centuries went by
That the poor Sandsquatch was fated
To become meat in a stir-fry

Because people became endeared
To spending long days on beach sand
Yet unexplainably disappeared
As if the beach became quicksand

Instantly Sandsquatch hunting groups
Were assembled and thus comprised
Of stalkers searching Sandsquatch poops
That always led them to their prize

There’s no ancient battles to watch
Although we know how it ended
With the extinction of Sandsquatch
So sadly dying unfriended

All resulting in crowded shorelines
Of sunbathers and plentiful gulls
With not one Sandsquatch danger sign
Yet often crabs live in squatch skulls

But maybe somehow, and someday
When they assemble Sandsquatch bones
That species may come back some way
Or at least as a fetching clone

The Smidget and Her Guru

The Puggily Smidgeburner and her Prettisome Guru
Huddled on the mountain searching for intensified solitude
Asking for answers on life's complicated absurdities
Which is near impossible in Galveston's low altitude

In the midst of a cerebral moment of blind groping
Puggily was unexplainably attracted to Guru
She was unnerved at the thought of physical connectedness
Could it be-thought she- high altitude was driving her cuckoo

Puggily Smidgeburner didn't walk, she ran down the mountain
Her Prettisome Guru watched the spectacle and shook his head
He had planned a gloriosity of a search for the truth
But Smidgeburners have always tended to think best in a bed

So he sat down on a nearby rock warmed by the morning sun
And thought of the truth he came here to capture - then said,"Forsooth!"
He pictured Puggity Smidgeburner and her seductive eyes
And he knew he had missed a golden chance - and that is the truth

Treasures

Something happened with my mind and its getting worse in time,
Scarcely I walk through town constantly feel concentrated eyes
From all angles bound, is it me, or a town maybe it is the world
My pulse increases but unexplainably my enthusiasm decreases
Life seems to cease everything is a tease working so hard to please
Brought to my knees daily because of a dam disease

Greatly is the need to drain the pressure
Diverting a explosion that is beyond measures
With all this disease has taken, it leaves me with
Continuous shaking, a precious treasure
For my life is now in short a measure
Today and everyday no matter what occurs
Is a pleasure I will continue to seek life’s treasures

Need Direction

NEED DIRECTION.

Help, help, hel-p!
No locomotion, just a commotion of emotions,
Twirling and nagging me nonstop,
I m being hauled by my soul,
Beckoning me to take steps but my legs are tied!
How do I move with this blind fold??
Blankness! this is insane..!
Help!!  I NEED DIRECTION!
Paths lead to dead ends, no escape.
Somebody lead me through! Confusion is at stake.
“where do I go??” its my daily chorus.
Pain folded within me,
is now my daily garment I clothe and blanket with..
Hello! You listeners, hear me out…
Help me to bear this needle pricking deep in my already slashed heart!
Oh  please help! I need direction..,
Yes! I need direction to the land of happiness,
Filled with sunrays and sparkling smiles,
because I m bouncing and tumbling over on a rocky ground.
So sorrowful because my sight is very vivid,
but im seeing nothing!
My eyes so teary, because im unexplainably blind!
Please drag me out of this misery…
The drug called love intoxicated me..,
that im lost in the world of nowhere,
Gulliver’s voyage are way better to where I am right now!
Please show me the way…
I NEED DIRECTION, I need direction…

Premium Member War On Stage

Sinister

And attractive is

The rising of war..

It is the story

Of separation

Dressed as glory

And sizzle..

But also as

Suffering in

The extreme..

It appears

On stage

Unexplainably

Spontaneously

To no one..

As do

Other stories

Of explanation

Of nations

Of alley fights

Of peacemaking...
