FORGOTTEN TREASURE
I found the fountain of youth
When I stumbled across the forbidden garden
Right smack in the middle,
Was what I thought to be a wishing well
I tossed in a quarter!
Looking down with a puzzled face
I peeked to see where it fell
I leaned over and that's when I saw my vanity
It was always there waiting for me
The reflection in the water was my face
In wonder, I asked what this vision could be?
With one drop on my taste buds
I knew I found the one true key
The most beautiful thing that can set one free
I reached in to touch the poetry inside me

repost- My first poem on the soup
i am no longer
lost in the labyrinth
of your twisted mentality
i kiss the lips of freedom
once you drove
me insane in the brain
now stubborn stains wash away
i will never bleed again
as i liberate my mind
from your shackles of sorrow
my suppressed spirit soars
watch me fly
i collect every
shattered shard of hope
place them in my heart
my faith heals each crack
for all the tongues silenced
all the hearts broken
i fail to hate you
i thank you for the lessons
pangs of passion
refuel a desire to dream
as flames rekindle
no rain can extinguish
yesterday i fell
like sunset in a storm
today i am a tropical sunrise
there is treasure in adversity
simple musing
silent one

It's hard to describe
that true sense of pride
that comes with the worth
of your babies birth
A child takes your heart
right from the start
and wills you to sow
a love destined to grow
From dress ups to cupcakes
from boo-boos to heartbreaks
it's all worth the pain
from the treasure we gain
Time spent together
can only be measured
in memories we hold
as part of our soul
God keep this life
from turmoil and strife
give it love and care
and blessings to share
For all that we ask
is that we're up to the task
and do all that we must
to honor your trust.
The thing with giving is Expectation...
The treasure of giving is the giving itself without expecting anything in return.
A loan creates dependency, inequality.

I
bend over
and kiss you
while you are sleeping
The fragrance of your
helpless frailty
Softness of your skin
I cherish
I
rub this balm in the
palms of my hands
to warm it, to give you
pause of sickness
softness without pain
And I lift you against me
Gently
I
Smile in your ear
You whisper soft tufts
of warm air in my neck
You give me the gift
of tenderness
You
expect nothing in return
I only ask to be here, with
you, I give you my life
to love you
forever

Love Was Sent, Treasure That Healed Two Crushed Hearts,
A Collaboration with Susan Ashley
Life shattered, soul crushed, another one has perished
once gone from this world was all she ever cherished
No amazing and joyful tales to tell the kids
just naked silence, from raging of black rapids
From heavens above, truest of gifts handed down
romance sent, from He that wears faith's eternal crown.
In that gloom and doom came our Spring's resplendent morn
Love, joyful sound of Living, thus we were reborn
Love, its Lights flamed, happiness needs no explaining
summer warmth came from darkness rapidly waning
O' what glory, shall your heart forever hold mine
our sweet blessing, came from angelic hands divine
Within nights, kisses that sated our hot desires
came oaths of eternal love that never expires.
In that gloom and doom came our Spring's resplendent morn
Love, joyful sound of Living, thus we were reborn
Our soaring passions’ pure as nightingale’s song
enrapturing seduction righted what was wrong
upon our heartstrings’ twilight music we did fly
as supernova lusts did unfurl ‘cross the sky -
scintillating stardust showered us with magic
our souls’ kissed in sparkling bliss since events tragic.
In that gloom and doom came our Spring's resplendent morn
Love, joyful sound of Living, thus we were reborn
Dreamy nectar - ripened wine, whetted revival
as I sipped upon your essence for survival
rousing the wild-honey luscious look in your eyes
behind ambrosial mist passionate beauty lies
on thirsty tongues of fire we burned ‘till morning’s light
melting past the pain in moonflower swirls of night
In that gloom and doom came our Spring's resplendent morn
Love, joyful sound of Living, thus we were reborn

I saw your blue eyes, so gentle and kind
Some things we see, leave imprints in memory
Like a treasure, forever, in your mind
A gentle touch, lasts forever freely
Unexpected hugs can highlight a day
Some things we see, leave imprints in memory
We may bashfully not know what to say
So many things touch our soul and heart
Unexpected hugs can highlight a day
Distance stirs emptiness deeply, apart
Cherish all genuine, that you may share
So many things touch our soul and heart
Cast as far as you can to show you care
It’s a smile, that moment strikes, you’ll see
Cherish all genuine that you may share
Surprises are found in simplicity
I saw your blue eyes, so gentle and kind
It’s a smile, that moment strikes, you’ll see
Like a treasure, forever, in your mind

I held an angel in my arms today,
A precious babe snuggled against my breast.
And my heart was overwhelmed with so much love,
As she lay contentedly at rest.
I watched her as she slept so soundly,
Gazed at her cherub face in sweet repose.
I marveled at her tiny features,
Like her dainty shell-like ears and button nose.
I brushed my lips against her downy head,
Her skin like velvet to my touch.
I gave thanks to God above for His priceless blessing
Of this little angel girl I love so much.
The birth of my first grandchild has awakened,
A joy that my soul cannot contain.
From day one my heart's been captured by her,
Firmly caught and held by love's strong chain.

FORGOTTEN TREASURE
I've found the fountain of youth
When I stumbled across the forbidden garden
Right in the middle of everything
Was what I imagined being a wishing well
I at once tossed a quarter into the sea
Facing down, puzzled as can be
I peeked in to ensure where it fell
I tipped over and that's when I saw my vanity
It was sitting there waiting for me
The reflection was before this day and age
I thought, what could this be?
With one drop on my taste buds
I knew I found the one true key
The most beautiful thing that can set one free
I reached in to touch the poetry inside me
SKAT
“The heart hath its own memory, like the mind, and in
It are enshrined the precious keepsakes, into which is
Wrought the giver’s loving thought.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Dear Treasure Chest
Invaluable is tender love’s domain,
that ruby red that lies beneath the breast.
But just as precious is the treasure chest
which houses our intelligence - the brain.
With memories exquisite to retain,
this coffer is the one that serves us best.
And likely we’ll not know how well we’re blessed
till luster of our keepsakes starts to wane.
The ruby oft is lost; we pay a toll.
Yet time and time again, that gem we find.
Not so within the storehouse of our soul
when strands of fond remembrances unwind.
Dear treasure chest of which we’ve no control,
what good the heart when pearls fade from the mind?
For the contest of Sara Kendrick
Sand sweeps over, as the sweet salty air
tickles every part of my being,
tracing curves
Temptation can be overwhelming,
for someone like you
Seek and you shall find
beyond the surface
Even a grown man likes to get dirty,
play lost and found
It’s like
Maturity takes a rest from reality,
and you become as a child
Trust me when I say
“I want to connect the dots with you too”
A game perhaps,
but I am willing to seize the moment
However
I wonder how long the wait will be - -
even someone like me,
needs setting free
Seek and you shall find,
unravel the mystery
Of course
I like knowing you could hold me,
like a whisper
gentle as the wind,
never letting go
Still, I wait for you
because X marks the spot,
and a man will not ask for directions
The sweet salty air
moves over my tender form
How long will it be,
until you find
and,
Treasure Me

Something a little Playful
The poet dreams, and with a simple glance
at trees or sky or at a mountain spring,
begins to write, endeavors to enhance
each sight of beauty with imagining.
He paints midsummer as a day of gold,
the song of birds at twilight as the tune
for his beloved, whose aspect is extolled
and likened to the splendor of the moon.
At times, his heart is pained. It seems that doom
pursues him in that chasm where he grieves.
He finds he still must write. . . and there may bloom
sweet wistful roses on his journal’s leaves.
Though meager be his assets, he bequeaths
to us a treasure with the words he breathes.

In this fast paced world of ours
I still enjoy lifes simple pleasures
It’s the uncomplicated joys
That I truly value and treasure
I treasure the joy of nature
Simplistic, raw, complete
The joy of family and friends
Loves connections pure and sweet
I treasure the joy of a beloved pet
A four legged member of the family
The unconditional love they possess
Has no end in it’s entirety
I treasure the joy of home
Shelter safe and secure
Precious blessings and comforts inside
Where happiness is assured
I treasure the joy of freedom
Fortunate to safely roam
In a country that I love
A country I call home
I treasure human Kindness
One of give and share
Of unselfishness and acceptance
Mankind simply being aware
No desire for material riches
Or the need to be entertained
I treasure lives special moments
Where lasting memories remain
I treasure affection and humour
Laughter is a true pleasure
In this fast paced world of ours
I’m so blessed with glorious treasures!
Hunting for treasure poems;
Midst summer morn~
I am adrift in the wilderness.
All of a sudden~
a European euphony soars
like a midnight sonata
in pianissimo and decrescendo.
I run to chase the symphony~
and to my delight,
a lilac light leads
a perfumed path
to a wondrous woodland.
And there I find
a precious poem~
written in the purple petal
of a wildflower.

Faved PoetrySoup poems, I've many a favorite
Are such a treasure trove of Joy
Each one so exquisite
I've many, but imagine, I'll have many, many more
I wish they could be bound in books
Purchased through a PS store!
Leaves of golden artistry of poets that I love
A little bit of heaven on earth
Like sunshine from above
I thought to name these poets, that have written
On my heart, but that would take
Me quite some time,
I don't know where to start!
Suffice to say, I'm blessed, I love this precious group
What treasure troves of blessings
These poems on PoetrySoup
Keep shining, keep on writing, your voices like a song
The aroma of sweet fragrance
Gently stirring all day long
For each new poem that's written, a gem within the sea
A gift of golden treasure is your
Precious poetry
My image shared is just a 'dream' book of sorts, an
idea of how it may be easy for PS to create a personalized
book of our favorite file poems from our dear PS poets.
My mother had an old empty scrapbook I inherited,
I applied the gold lettering just for an example.
Maybe Team Poetry could brainstorm an idea of this
sort, I think it would be wonderful. Anyway, just a thought.

It lifts up the downtrodden
Delivers hope to the forgotten
Inspires the youth of generations on end
even helps the disabled mend
Words that soar on celestial winds
Imagination crystalline
Images of pristine delight
brew enchantment throughout the night
A poem’s a treasure, my dear friend
To turn to over and over again
A refuge from the gathering storm
