Best Tangoed Poems
They elude me now ...words
Drinking befits a drowning man possessed
Swimming off this broken page
Baton winning in a relay race
I breached the ribbon sliced with chest
Joy! I gasped
Grown tired of my own riddles
Those halting jagged lines
Conversely I committed
So disrespectful of my crimes
In dispatchment utter lunacy
Forgiveness once again!
Ive come to claim my lost respect
My place so quick forgotten was
So Zeroed out of ten
Twelve steps from cursed enslavement
Danced to music uncontained
Toi-toi in lone detachment
Side stepping their allure
And tangoed with enticement
And cha-cha'd with no cure
Then dropping over hurdles
Burning through those barricades
All over all these obstacles
So help me God I try to change
No longer need prescription
Still sometimes do I crave
Unshackled is your prisoner
Dispossession freed this slave
There is something about that -ism
A mystery by name
Other than recovery
Benign this deathly game
Be it known that happy healing
Doubles, behind the curtains of shame

The Gilded Leaves of Autumn Sigh
As the gilded leaves of Autumn sigh,
I’m haunted by the shadow of a long-lost love.
I’ll always remember the soft song of a summer breeze…
from golden days when we were carefree butterflies.
I’m haunted by the shadow of a long-lost love…
memories of our first kiss still leave me breathless,
from golden days when we were carefree butterflies;
when our silhouettes tangoed in moonlight’s silvery embrace.
Memories of our first kiss still leave me breathless!
I was enchanted by soft caresses and sparkling red wine.
When our silhouettes tangoed in moonlight’s silvery embrace,
I believed stars would shine until the end of time.
I was enchanted by soft caresses and sparkling red wine…
enthralled as you held me tenderly in your arms.
I believed stars would shine until the end of time;
when I thought you would be forever mine.
Enthralled as you held me tenderly in your arms,
I’ll always remember the soft song of a summer breeze,
when I thought you would be forever mine…
as the gilded leaves of Autumn sigh.

Wedding wines - rather champagne shines
and bubbly breakout of blushing bride.
Groom with giant heart, gracious, grateful - grips
her hand with his handsome wholeness. Helps
his lovely lady into limousine, longing for her lips.
Laps leaping, longing, leaving the crowd’s “so long!”
Cans chiming cheers. Crowd chuckles at car’s rear.
“Honeymoon here we come!” Coreen casts a shameless
glance at Glen. His green anticipation, Gable-debonair.
Goosebumps and gorgeous view - grand peaks
of her bosom buddies, brimming with lace and brouhaha.
His eyes - riveting, reveling, robust, ruddy and willing.
~
Throbbing thirst, thistles ‘neath terrycloth, while he waits.
Anticipation hurts - artfully, agonizingly. Her appearance
in nascent negligée, nearly naughty, nearly a no-no,
but not, for they’ve tied the knot and into a knot they go.
Get’m tiger! Tongues tangoed, trip to Timbuktu, tipsy
and top-see and no toodaloo - a forever frou-frou.
Silk surrender, sliding, suspend her, satisfaction in space.
Stirring, sipping, inhabiting each other, sensational and sweet.

Do you remember our first kiss?
It`s captured eternally, on the canvas of my heart.
The oil of our pinnacle painted by Times' lasting brush.
Relived everyday, I refuse to let the moment dry.
Depicted, is day idly laying back as
night mischievously races forward.
The enchanting hour, sunset, vivid colours.
Picturesque.
In the moment itself:
the rhythm of life slows
magic sways in the air
thud..thud..thud
moans the impatient guardian of my chest.
The itch of my desire anticipating
the soothing massage.
The agonizing wait, your infuriating deliberation.
Remember?
The stars appeared. Murmured. And were ignored.
Tongues tangoed. Oblivious to time.
Uncharted territory finally discovered.
Finally claimed.
Can you picture it? Our living masterpiece.

You dear are my fascination
Exceeding my expectation
Thrilling me making my heart race
There’s something in the way you move
I love how you sway to my groove
With every step you match my pace
Waltz, rumba, salsa or tango
More delicious than a mango
Sexy wearing leather or lace
My fingers explore every line
More intoxicating than wine
The allure began with the chase
Yes it’s true you played hard to get
Not looking at me when we met
I was enamoured by your style
Your easy understated way
Tapping as the music would play
and a subtle hint of a smile
Eventually you took my hand
Moving to the sound of the band
Breathtaking moments last a while
In my arms you are meant to be
Being with you makes me feel free
floating above the earth a mile
your movement is a form of art
Everything is more colourful
since you tangoed into my heart

Hungry reader, wild sea lover, wordsmith, listener of dreams and lies
Daughter of beloved parents –strong-- longingly and sorely missed
Left Alaska, empty nester, wrote a book and growled through heat of Greece and Crete
Heartbreak through a broken friendship--in a whim went on to Kenya to greet a student cyber found
Call from Israel , shall I go there? Someone needs my wily ways.
Tangoed madly with malaria , celebrating joys of life
Still Alaskan, North Sea calls me, taunts me worlds and seas away
Victoria, still dancing with life's passions

SWEATS and SWEETS
Shooting sighs and moans we fired last night still glows
As tangoed silhouetted shadows hungered love dancing
Peeping breeze outside match our whispers and calls flow
Desiring to dip and sway like leaves our top wanting
Our hands and lips pastel strokes to light brushes show
Two bared torso's touching amidst silken sheets warmed
Daring palms to fingertips send fevers upon hungry hips
Heartbeats stomps and thumps like bass drums stormed
Thrusts and pumps to nerves draw carousels of round trips
Stirring sweats to trail slow on curves adorned
Sweet scented heart lips in nonstop loving caress
As tempos rising aplenty voice fusion fueled cries
Torso's now blossom blessed by their loving impress
Gyration waves ebb after reaching heavenly skies
Legs twine, breaths calm, sated souls fall finesse

She's a seductive Merlot,
wears pearls like a lady
slurps oysters like a sailor
swears like a banshee when
she can't have her own say,
tiny bit of sugar, lot of spice
not the type of girl you
bring home to mother,
doesn't give a bird flip,
she's tangoed with lions
won't ever be possessed,
she can outrun you
hit a grand slam right
between your eyes,
a fiery dragon and
kitten all in one,
her daddy used to have
his way with her,
can never win her heart
it was tarnished
many moons ago,
wherefrom demons
crawled into her bed

Epic
Faint away Ry Cooder
as the candle flame danced
reddish green and the wick crackled
Cassiopeia together
through the night screen
crooned Diana Krall
and a dying moon
three white birds
softly perched at the
window sill
hoping to join in
their warble a suitable fit
insects of every shape
and watercolor
tangoed past
as if ordered
by some higher authority
stinging pain carom off the
right side of my heart
and get lost
fall asleep
earlier than smoking the wicker

Light Verse
It was her poise and grace
that set her apart;
a gentle rhythmic walk.
Soft velvet tones of
gracefulness as she talked.
Her voice danced as she spoke.
Her eyes glistened in animated
interest as she listened,
focused, undeviating from
the intense conversation
she was involved in.
Expressive, long-fingered hands.
Gesticulating with the ebb
and flow of torrid words.
Stopping only to smooth a
straying hair back to perfection.
Interjection of soft salsa
verbal rocking, picking up
the tempo to tangoed crescendo,
waltzing in three time,
quick stepping to conversational conclusion.
As she stood to leave,
long legs unravelled, rising
to pose in balletic stance,
her bar a chair back, a smile,
a graceful backward glance....
Drifting on a cloud of chiffon
she floats away. Willowy limbs
carrying her noiselessly,
stunning her audience as heads
all crane to admire her as she leaves.
Always a dancer. Her life her stage.
Carefully choreographed.
Her earthly progress mapped
in song and dance on every page
of score and libretto....
Disciplined.
Majestic movement from head
to tiny tapped toe.
Always a dancer.
Applaud her as she goes.

I watch in hunger as you dance,
I linger here in shadowed light,
While hoping for the briefest glance,
To fill my dreams another night.
Old music pulses through the air,
As in her arms you dance delight,
A vision that my eyes dare share,
To fill my dreams another night.
I love the way your body sways,
Erotic moves that hold my sight,
A tangoed beat so surely plays,
To fill my dreams another night.
I watch in hunger as you dance,
To fill my dreams another night.

~A Dance with the King~
Have you ever danced with a King? Every girl should sign up. Oh it is the most extraordinary dance you will ever have in your life time. First he will take your hand and ask, “Shall I have this dance, my dearest fair maiden?” Then you bow and curtsy with the most humble grin. Then he smiles in return and the entire universe is lit up! Oh, it is a once in a life time moment.
Have you ever waltzed on the edge of the Milky Way? Have you ever tangoed on Mars? Once we danced all night until the stars turned off their lights and then the sun woke us up. As soon as the lights reappeared we continued where we left off. It was the dance of a lifetime.
Have you ever held hands with the King of the Universe? His hands are enormous and have all the healing power the world could ever need. There are scars there too you know. Scars from the burden of his love for us. Scars that penetrate deep within his soul.
Have you ever really waited for a miracle? Have you ever sat and prayed until you were blue in the face? Have you prayed until something miraculous happened and then shouted and gave the King praise? Oh, you should also do that one day too.
Our King can be anything you want him to be. He can be your dance partner if you don’t have one. He can be your Father if you are an orphan. He can be a husband if you are a widow. Whatever it is you need him to be he will fill that void for you. How do I know that my poem is true? Because He is every one of these things to me.

Silver dusts fall from the sky at night,
winter dances ballet with the wind as a partner,
His white suit radiates and shines so bright,
His swift movements send out cozy waves making me greener,
Then comes autumn with her spectacular display,
Her classical steps coincide with her colorful outfits,
Her exhilarating moves make the trees to call for a replay,
and the audience stands on their feet from their seats,
Clouds rumble and the sky applauds as spring comes out,
And he tap-danced all around with vigor to the end,
making young seedlings, larvae and flowers to mount and sprout,
As he tangoed with the rain, the sea and earth cannot pretend,
Summer dances blues and high-life with harmattan without restrain,
as beach lovers, children and picnickers hum and sing along,
Mutual chemistry co-existing with torrid climate without pain,
These wonderful displays and rhythms make love so...so...strong.

It was summer and I was too young to ever have been in love
I heard a Disney-like song that intrigued me.
I listened to it over and over again.
It was charming and uplifting in a whimsical way
with chirpy joyful sounds of a synthesizer in the background.
As candlelight flames would dance on through the evening
I’d imagine the jitterbug and shimmy
as they whirled and they twirled
and they tangoed ~ a couple so happy to be in love
Floating like the heavens above.
And it made me wonder about being in love
and about someday kissing someone who would tickle my fancy.
I knew I was on the verge of growing up, I had my life ahead of me
and how undoubtedly those kisses would lead to my becoming a missus.
Good or bad. I wondered about my future listening to Muskrat Love.
