Best Taming Poems

Someday I'll get this sonnet writing right.
Sure, I can count ten syllables and rhyme,
then set my flock of metaphors to flight
and spin ten-dollar words from time to time.
My tiger-words I train with chair in hand
and meter's whip. Good syntax I require,
true spelling, decent rhythm - I demand
they jump iambically through hoops of fire.
I seek out...

Taming of the Shrew
I took a brand new girlfriend to see ''The taming of the shrew''
She was a little apprehensive as we joined the queue
but I sensed that her humour, If anything was dry
and very soon her laughter, brought tears to her eyes.

If I be waspish, Best beware my sting
There's small choice in rotten apples, Were just...

April Brooks was four years old, prattling a blue streak, like comets;
Or backwards walking time, seizing swiftly, days of golden promise.

April lived with parents and older sister, in the sunshine of a valley;
And petals wore dew pearls and fragrance, all along the green alley.

April and sister, Dawn, loved horses, though still too young to ride;
But,...

Taming Flowers
there's not a flower
can't grow wild
thrive neglected and ignored
but how much better
some can do when caged
tied to stakes
and pruned
their buds collected
to encourage growth
the sun, the rain, the earth
and care and harvesting
no less important
to renew the bloom....

Taming of the Shrew
Before mankind evolved on Earth
or mammals roamed the land
t’was only bugs and dinosaurs
that God had ever planned.

But monkeying around one day
he thought he’d have some fun
and made a man to pass his time,
thus mankind had begun.

But boredom overtook him
nothing changed within his land
so he thought I’ll make a creature
that I cannot understand.

That way I’ll be...

 Light dims from fever of day …

      bare as skin of fireflies’ touch

         skating among petals strewn

Taming of the Tongue
Your words flow faster than your mind
Can decipher their impact
No Fetish
But, you are licking your own feet
Sucking your toes clean
For you think you are on higher ground
Above exerting discretion over the dialogue you utter
Censorship does not exist in your vocabulary
Your slippery tongue betrays you
For it knows no boundaries
Your foolishness is never-ending...

Premium Member Taming the Beast
I stared the beast straight in the eyes,
Determined to change his wildish ways,
But he stared right back with viciousness;
Eyes unveiling a mind that’s wild and crazed.

As to our physical nature,
I was sorely overmatched;
His quickness and dexterity
Made him impossible for me to catch.

So I patiently watched him carefully;
Waiting for the time to be just right;
Hoping that...

The Taming
when younger & full of life,
idealistic with fist in the air,
hell bent on changing the world
with a communicative heart
whose capacity to give &
care for those around her/him
seemed without need to ever
replenish,
the thought that an institution
whose front seemed to be legit,
whose will to instill knowledge in
the population of those willing
seemed pure & true,
never seemed to register.

so...

Taming
Pain exists in the mind,
all you have to do is find,
out where to look,
just like reading a book.

My heart aches for much,
especially your touch,
Alone is where you leave me,
full of loneliness and despair.

If I share my feelings with you,
what will you do?
How will you respond,
to the way...
