Best Take A Picture Poems
I love to dream with you
Be with you…
Feel your warmth,
When we’re together
I want to hug you tight
With all my might
Feel our hearts…
Beating forever
Every day is your birthday
Every moment a chance to celebrate
I take a picture with you
Colorful rainbows on a carpet of blue
We’ll ride the clouds and soar Earth’s sky
Play on the moon
Watch comets rushing by…
Sailing the stars…
We’ll pass Jupiter and Mars
Then back to bed…
To wake up in your arms
I love to dream with you
Be with you…
Feel your warmth,
When we’re together
I want to hug you tight
With all my might
Feel our hearts…
Beating forever
I took this family portrait yesterday as we walked along the beach…
our entire family could not make it…
some were sleeping…
others out of reach…
But I noticed through the camera lens as in the sand I knelt
even the family members who were absent…
their presence could be felt.
I don’t know how it happens
but when I take a picture of my family…
I swear
I see the people in the picture frame…
and the ones who are not there.
Which makes every family photo…
a reason to give thanks…
as my eyes look at the picture
while my heart fills in the blanks…
So once again I smiled as I snapped this picture…
suddenly filled with but one thought
how my entire family is always with me…
whether they’re with me…
or they’re not.

I am a thousand violet tongues
licking the wind, silently bending
beneath the blistering Texas sun.
I unfurl where the highway
forgets its name,
where the sky
presses down like a warm hand.
I am not regal;
I am not obedient~
I am a wildflower,
a spill of indigo
against the thirsty Texas earth.
I do not beg. I do not bow.
Only nod~
a friendly howdy
when the pickup trucks rumble past,
kicking up the Texas dust
that settles like old prayers.
The cattle low at my presence,
their hooves careful, almost reverent.
Wind bends me; I bow back.
Rain comes; I drink deep.
At dusk, my petals close like fists~
small, stubborn prayers.
Each spring, I return.
I open~
a rebellion of color.
I am not delicate. I am patient
I am waiting
for you to pull over,
to kneel in the dirt next to me
and take a picture with me~
a Texas tradition.
I am the lupine that remembers
the Comanche horses,
the oil rigs,
rodeos, and
the subdivisions
creeping like frost.
When they pave this field,
I will rise through the cracks, for
I am as defiant as Texas.
I am the Texas’ state flower.
I am the bluebonnet.
Precious Tender Moment
Such a precious tender moment
and the comfort that you crave.
As I watched you kneeling there
pulling weeds beside her grave.
So long she was a part of you,
so long you were together.
I know that here without her
must feel just like forever.
Somewhere in my mind it seems
I had this moment planned.
You might say I came prepared
this camera in my hand.
Now forever I'll see the picture.
The one I never took.
Of a precious tender moment
no matter where I look.
Birds all chattered in the trees,
the sun shined in the skies.
Still it rained inside my heart
as tears fell from your eyes.
I hope you know you're not alone
in your missing her so badly.
Mother's gone for two years now
and I love you so much daddy.
Forever in our hearts and minds
is where she will always be.
And this precious tender moment
alone here, you and me.

Inspired by the true story of a friend of a friend. Who upon taking her father to visit his departed wife's grave site. She planned to take a picture. Only to find she could not bring herself to do it. As she watched still two years later still grieving her passing. God bless them both.
I was shopping at the mall, and who did I see?
Santa Clause was there, waiting to take a picture with me.
I knocked over a bunch of kids that were standing in line.
"I'm sorry, little brats, but I'm gonna get mine!"
I jumped on Santa's lap and punched him right in the face.
I could hear kids start crying all over the place.
"That's right kids, cry! I'm about to take Santa's life!"
I reached in my pocket and I pulled out a knife.
I said, "Listen up, fatty! All I want is your sled,
and a big bag of cash, or else you're gonna be dead!"
Santa just smiled and shouted, "Give it a try!
I was here before the wheel. There's noway I can die."
Santa was right... A knife wouldn't do.
So I whipped out my gun and I pulled the trigger too.
Kids started running and screaming, but Santa still sat.
Not a scratch on the guy, just a hole through his hat.
He shouted, "Ho! Ho! Ho!" That jolly ol' soul.
Then he reached in his bag and he pulled out some coal.
He threw it at my head and it knocked me out.
Then he turned to the kids and he started to shout!
"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
Thats when I woke up, and I was ready to fight.
I punched him once or twice, and started pulling his hair.
Then I got jumped by eight little Elfs that he had with him there.
A reindeer blinded me with it's bright little nose.
A child even hit me with a toy rubber hose.
"Mercy!" I yelled. "I give up! I insist!"
Santa kept on laughing and put me on the notty list...
Be good EVERYONE! I saying that from my soul.
Don't wind up like me with a pile of coals!
once while planning to take a picture
i thought about how i could
get God to pose
of course i could use a distingushing suit
but for a picture with God
a suit is of little use
then i thought of the obvious
a wonderful plan
i would take a picture with
Gods word in my hand
still as of yet
i have not posed for that picture
but at times i ponder pleasantly
on when i'll take the picture
until one day
it was cruelly exposed
i already had a picture of God
and just didn't know
pulling down the sun vissor
inside my truck
a cut out picture of
Allanis Morrisette
she played God in a movie called
"Dogma"
it frightened me at first
for obvious reasons
but when i think of God
i think that this is the kind of joke
he would play
so, allanis morrisette will stay
i will not worship her
or say that she is God
but when ever i see that picture
i'll see a picture of God
Dawn sighs a crimson vapor
along a beach of trolls
(pretending to be plastic things)
fond of gleaning the mind
leaving a trail of seaweed and grit behind
that stays with you till the ends
meet time....
The yawl is beached
skin blistered blue till white
listen to wind stories whispering
truth always lies somewhere between
pulp and rind-piper and gull
solitude and scream.
Take a picture of the sunrise
through the foggy lens of
a been there- done that life
but there are new things to see
yes, worthwhile things- aren't there?
Just pan offal from pristine.
and when you've reached
what you've had all along,
hide your disappointment cleverly
wear its flaw on your ringing finger.
I'm heading for unspoiled terrain
{hopefully sooner than later}
rescued from the hearth of a deepening canyon, called uncaring.
A one-way cool air balloon ride
into the lattice of heaven.
dragonfly
on my fingertips
faith for the giant
NOTE: I normally don't post pictures with my poetry - though I guess I never actually had the option before - but in any case, this actually happened to me, when visiting my uncle in Florida. This big blue dragonfly was perched on my fingers for nearly 10 minutes, even as I was fumbling for my phone in my pocket to take a picture! I don't know what compelled the little guy to stay there for so long, and not fly away in terror ... but it was a special moment for me.
I smile without acknowledgement there of
With simple joy all I can do is shrug
For love, I can’t tell where it is above
With sweetness and kindness like a dove
For why am I smiling surprisingly?
With this wonderful joy and lovely peace
And all the contentment that’s inside me
I’m glad my heart is no longer feenin’
Please don’t block out love, that’s what you do best
Relax your mind and give your head a rest
Organize your life, for you need no mess
Really… I cannot believe you can smile
Determination… I can spot a mile
Now, take a picture so it can be filed.

The Stranger and the Photographer
By: Inaam Al-Hashimi (Gold_N_Silk)
=======================
Sunshine in his eyes
A smile on his face
Dust on his hair
And on his eyebrows
Like a lone ranger
From outer space
Who crossed the desert
Riding the wind,
Not a horse!
And after his journey,
To rest his head,
He found a place.
Everyone was talking
Laughing and joking
And with their laughter
Filling the space
But alone he was sitting,
Drinking and eating,
In utter silence,
Minding noone else.
Like lightning and thunder,
On a hot summer day;
She suddenly comes,
To shatter his silence,
And cross his way,
"I'd like to take a picture,"
She said with a smile,
"Of you, If I may!"
Waited for no answer,
Took a picture,
"Thank you!" She said,
And went away.
Then turned around
And said with a sway:
Mind you stranger!
If destiny wants,
She'll have her way,
Your path and my path,
Will cross again,
Somehow, somewhere, someday!

I was on a machine
Working out – burning steam
As the “Calories Burnt” numbers grows
When this pretty young thing
Turns around – my eyes sting
As her nipples in tight t-shirt shows
Well, I drift off sometime
Lost in space – lost in mind
When this pretty young lady walks past
Then she stops and she said
Take a picture instead
Cause staring at them just won’t last
I snap out of my stare
And say “who – what – why – where”
She says “take your eyes off my breast”
Then I say “can’t you see
They are pointing at me
As even you can attest”
“I assure you I can’t
Control my nipple’s slant”
And I said “the same with my eyes”
Then she said “look away”
And what could I say
“wear t-shirts with much thicker plys”
Then I starred with a grin
From her breasts to her chin
And I knew we were destined for more
She quickly agreed
Then when we did the deed
I awoke with a start from a snore
I got up – changed my pants
To the gym – hoped to glance
The woman I saw in my dreams
This time I’ll relax
Take my eyes off her rack
And at least get her name by all means

Inspired by Joe Flach’s poem “the Workout”
The valley so far and wide below
Linden rocks on to capture the show
Bluebells ring to take a picture
mountain lions roam a permenant fixture
And on we trek up the valley
It kind of looks like Cali
And the birds chirp and sing
But oh, does that hot sun sting
Oh look, there's a beautiful sight
Purple mountains with such height
And the time to look at the flat mesas sublime
Let's sit down at the picnic table and have a diet lime
In the green shade now at noon time
Is it a crime to see such lush beauty on not even a dime?
Easter morning
Nineteen fifties
Black and white
Edged in gray
Pyramid like
Stepping stones
Determined by age and height
Reminiscent of the glories of Cleopatra
Stand silhouetted within
Easter’s sunny orbit
The Ideal family with fixed smiles
Returns the viewers’ gaze
Light enters
The shutter clicks
Kidnapping the treasured moment
Mom and dad
Bookend eldest daughter
Twin-like reflections of
Younger brothers stand at mid-point
Youngest daughter becomes
The monument’s foundation
Picture perfect in Easter finery
Chapeaus are draped in crushed netting
Brimming with bright flowers and multi-colored berries
Suit coats hold crisp white shirts and striped ties
Tiny purses dangle from wrists
Fixed Colgate-like smiles
Return the viewer’s gaze
Commemorating, witnessing, rejoicing
What is for who will come
Shoulder to shoulder they stand
Planets spiraling bumping, clashing
Yet staying in orbit
Generations may wonder
At the story being told
Does the little girl rue standing alone?
Or is it her statement?
Why not the oldest?
Leaving the parents together?
Must the brothers move glued as one through eternity?
Will each find a place in the firmament?
Will eternity claim the parents first?
Will a younger moon precede?
Frear not
As Gods’s heavens circumscribe
The position of the moon and stars.
Creation’s order begets love and benevolence
Tradition is reward and
Source material
For nature’s anomalies
Every Easter it was our family tradition to take a picture of the six of us before church. It was often taken on the steps of our family home.
If I want to spell a word I get my dictionary
Others use their I-phone
If I want to know the time I look at my watch
Others use their I-phone
If I want to send a message I get a pen and paper
Others use their I-phone
If I want to know a recipe I get my cookery book
Others use their I-phone
If I want to work out a sum I get my calculator
Others use their I-phone
If I want to know the weather I look out of the window
Others use their I-phone
If I want to listen to music I turn on my radio
Others use their I-phone
If I want to take a picture I use my camera
Others use their I-phone
If I need to look somewhere dark I use my torch
Others use their I-phone
If your I-phone gets lost then so are you,
How do you ever manage without it?
BUT if I get lost and need directions – I ask my husband
And he gets out HIS I-phone!
