Notes About The Poem

Dragonfly --- Haiku

dragonfly
on my fingertips
faith for the giant

NOTE: I normally don't post pictures with my poetry - though I guess I never actually had the option before - but in any case, this actually happened to me, when visiting my uncle in Florida. This big blue dragonfly was perched on my fingers for nearly 10 minutes, even as I was fumbling for my phone in my pocket to take a picture! I don't know what compelled the little guy to stay there for so long, and not fly away in terror ... but it was a special moment for me.

It was a really special moment for me and Mr. Dragonfly ... I halfway want to say it was a spiritual connection ... but that might be getting a bit dramatic! In any case, it's there, it happened ... and it's forever in my memory ^_^

I can see it Tim: He wanted to pose for you. Maybe he had heard about the giant that leaves sugar for the ants. Lol SuZ

LOL! Almost forgot about that piece ... word sure gets around quick in the insect world.

......And both love and faith lodging in the fingers that soon almost immortalized both the holder and the guest in this beautiful haiku.

Almost immortalized is correct, my friend! A companionship though short-lived, but will exist in memory ... photography ... and poetry! Glad you enjoyed, Probir.

Hi Timothy...for some reason the picture won't show...will try again later, although this haiku and the footnote are ample to give me a clear idea. That dragonfly must have had full faith in you! Gentle giants are easy to recognize:) ~ Regards // paul

Hey Paul. I guess the interpretation can go either way ... whatever the reader brings to the table. Never thought of myself as a gentle giant before (I'm the shorty in the family ... lol!)

very nice ku Timothy. I like gow it is the giant that has to have faith and not the little dragonfly.

Excellent haiku! I had a dragonfly perch on rim of my coffee cup I was holding, not my finger but still close enough. It is an awesome experience.
