Scare Tactics

It was on one Tuesday arvo shopping at the hardware store,
When I noticed Vicar Prendegast come walking through the door,
He walked up to the counter with a strained look on his face,
I could see that he’s not happy so I let him take my place.

Gerry who’s behind the counter asked the Vicar what was wrong,
The Vicar mentioned that a thousand bats are not where they belong,
They’ve settled in his narthex attic, as well as in his belfry too,
And leaving such a flamin’ mess, so is there something he can do.

Well Gerry looked across at me and asked me what I thought,
But the only answers that I had so quickly came up short,
I mentioned cats and noise or maybe, an evil smelling spray,
But the Vicar said he tried all these to scare the bats away.

An owl or two would do the trick, so I picked up the phone,
And rang up a taxidermist asking if there’s one on loan,
But his response was negative. Where does the Vicar go from here?
To rid his Church from pesky bats who seem to have diarrhoea.

We wracked our brains to find a source and help the Vicar out,
Suggesting that a smoke bomb might be just the thing to rout
the bats, but in frustration, the Vicar quietly spoke,
I filled the Church with acrid smoke, but it’s I who got to choke.

So in a last ditch effort Gerry asked the Vicar on the score,
“Have you talked about this problem with the Parish from next door?
I’m sure you’re not the only one these bats have taken too.
Have you got their Vicar’s number and I’ll ring him up for you”.

When Gerry put the phone down there’s a big smile on his face,
“No worries Vicar” Gerry said, “Theirs took off without a trace”,
And when Gerry added what was done, it made our Vicar wince,
“He baptised all his bloody bats and hasn’t seen ‘em since”.

For the crime of whining, guilty as charged
But this shady lady's tactics need to be barred
Unfair they are
Lured me into her car
Used me for bumpity bump, my reputation is scarred

Tactics

in a rut
no, a trench.
pulled under like Ypres or Verdun
walls held up by bodies of dearly departed.
we gather here today because we have to.
so chew the dirt from fingernails,
swim this mud sea.
six feet.
draped flags,
bedsheets, tablecloth rags
set the places.
mines flower on this grave.

Shock Tactics

It is silent
Neon sulphuric mustard gas
It is the snare
Spilling poison, dropped chalice
You are the cupbearer
Drinking your holy communion
From ashes to rubble

I remember you
The smiling tiger
Roaring to the pounce
Fiercely tugging at life caught
Between your polished claws
Until the wall fell and celebration
We were selling bricks in bin liners

You can get up off your knees now
The table would have killed you anyway.

Smear Tactics Did Disappear

Smear Tactics Did Disappear

Things that are small may seem mere
Then may be tactics which are smear
And many bad feelings they bring on
Hope pretty soon they will be gone
Bad behavior and habits disappear.

Scare Tactics

Bullies
are empowered
by your fear.

So try to be brave
when they are near.

Bullies need
to lash out
in anger.

Initially
their victims
are perfect strangers.

Bullies are
selfish and mean.

They get their
attention
by making a scene.

Bullies like
to intimidate
and oppress.

Masking insecurities
by causing duress.

Bullies often
have hurts
that need to heal.

Releasing pain
to show
how they feel.

Bullies must eventually be
brought down to size.

By eliminating
the terror
they see in your eyes.

Wicked Tactics

Fever pitch dreaming
finding waves;
in amble forgiveness
touching God's grace,
but never realizing the truth
dragging through life,
always bleeding
from the begging,
empty hands;
grasp for quantity
desperately dull,
seeking lies
instead of lasting peace,
worldly delusion;
blocking my point of view
breaking rightful freedoms,
testing hearts for their grief
miserably misunderstood,
lacking basic knowledge
to give little relief,
I'm fond of the memories
running beneath my skin,
taking on wicked tactics
untill the bitter end.

Strategies and Tactics

Care to come in-- a cup of coffee?
Comes close to corporate strategy,
And time's when ripe for tricks,
Battle-tested tactics,
Say, an impromptu hand on her knee. _____________________________________________

Corporate corridors are abuzz with tactics and strategies.
And corporate schools discuss essential difference between the two.
I spent the last few years of my job looking after Strategic Planning and the question was posed to me as well. But it never occurred to me then to make limerick like this. This one highlights the essential difference between the two.
