Engulfed within wave of fantasy
My heart basks in wondrous ecstasy
For sweet moments, serenely triumphant
Midst prayers for global peace, graciously vibrant.
Surfing along wave of fantasy’s zest
My faith hopes for miracles, indeed best
Beholding special children soaring in their flight
Surmounting disability toward great milestone height.
Plunging into wave of fantasy with bliss
My soul goes to the depths midst contentment-abyss
Enthralled with warm partnership marked by caring kindness
Brought about by divine fellowship around relationship's goodness.
Sailing with wave of fantasy’s pleasure
My spirit thanks the Lord for love-treasure
Always available for sharing with delightful mirth
Bringing sublime blessed* wealth from heaven to earth.
*Psalm 89:52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.

Bouncing up with gratitude
my heart leaps midst jubilant beat
rising to praise God* for His blessings
overtaking me this New Year.
Propelled by the Holy Ghost
my faith strides steadfastly
ascending along trust’s push
to triumph midst obstacles.
Advancing the Saviour’s kingdom
my spirit promotes righteousness
surmounting hatred with His forgiveness
gripped by love’s transforming drive.
Plunging in prayer to overcome gripping selfishness
my soul serves the Lord with His might
reaching-out to others in compassion
lifting the needy, propped by care’s zest.
Vanquishing skeptic doubts
my mind hurls negative thoughts
to prevail through Scriptures’ assurance
and zoom toward worship bliss.
Empowered by Christ Who leads
my life accelerates in His control
since He upholds me by His grace
hoisting me from sin-downfall.
*Psalm 86:12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

To speak for those, who no longer have a voice,
were I to get it wrong, would they really have a choice?
No.., they didn't choose me as spokesperson, why would they?
I am not clairvoyant.
But they haunt my dreams still...cause me to rise, plead me to look back.
They won't let me alone, point in fact.
“I am waiting patiently. Goodbye my darlings"
Bill didn't have enough water to write much more than this.
Born on Valentine's day, with his heart set on Chubby,
eight days to dwell on a love that almost was, now missed.
Mia was a sad-eyed beauty, there's no denying that.,
she never got free the shadow cast, Ernie's early demise.
Though a mother's love, given and reciprocated,
found a fondness binding, throughout her short life.
Marty made the day special for friends and family,
never thinking of himself, a miracle and twin borne.
Forsaken in life's wishes, called only for justice seen,
lived life fitting of a brother they'll always mourn.
Save up the coins for the ferryman while you still can,
the days will bring swift recounting.
Leave lasting memory for love's empty hand,
and debts of the heart ever surmounting.

Often, I enter a contest
I enter the ones I like best
But one sponsor said
Write stood on your head
I moved on to check out the rest
Another said stand in a bucket
Write Latin, or I’m gonna chuck it
Eight lines by the way
Or get an NA
I thought about that and said f… ..
[They say stick to your chosen form
You should never break with the norm
In two stanza’s time
I’m switching to rhyme
The purist would kick up a storm]
But what really scrambles my brain
Is what comes up time and again
It’s apps for surmounting
The problem of counting
And one’s a particular pain….
*
‘How many syllables’, that’s what gets me
The logic it uses ain’t easy to see
Take for example the simple word ‘Wouldn’t’
They say it’s one syllable…
See it?..
I couldn’t
It misreads quotation marks, single or double
A single’s a syllable….. doubles?…. no trouble
It claims that the open quote counts as a syllable
Yet the ensuing quote counts not at all
Now I’m not unique so I run with the crowd
And I’m sure that no-one reads quote marks aloud
With ‘How Many Syllables’, if demand lingers
I simply ignore it and count on my fingers
But Soup has a resource called ‘Syllable Counter’
Which disregards quote marks that it may encounter.
In ‘shouldn’t’ and ‘wouldn’t’ and ‘mustn’t’ and ‘couldn’t’
The syllables all number two
And all of that makes pretty good sense to me…
So does it make good sense to you?
*
I love writing poetry, dearly
And often I get it right… nearly
So please do feel free
To set rules for me
But ‘How Many Syllables’?…. Really?

Limerick
A long line of waters
Deep in hearts of bathers
A lifeline of growth
Weep of salvation brought forth
Waters of life over a mile
Outrunning a thousand stile
Gifts of life in piles
Surmounting torments of viles
Dreams on waters slate
Streams of sages proliferate
Sun beam of neon flickers
Teeming waters on pickers
Wishers with panoramic views
Dreamer of waters purviews
Like well-wishers throwing coins over heels
Eye-openers on picker wheels
A river full of life
A river lull of strife
Outpouring a thousand mile
Outscoring a thousand smile
On this river of hope
A bigger dream to scope
A kaleidescope of scenery
Grandeur over tapestry
One day the said river dried
No one ever wondered and belied
Gold in pieces on the ground mounted
In the hearts of gold sprouted
Euphrates...
A river

Narrative
(Mothers don't die because they live in the hearts of their children)
When I talk about My mother I am talking about all good mothers in the world I gift them this poem on the occasion of Mother's Day
My mom
Paradise has been walking on the earth
And soul has been walking over the water
Warmth has been surmounting seasons
And light will never turn off
And dream will never begin
And story will never end
My mom
You are the wisdom of the days
And the source of love and compassion
My mom
Breath of the soul
And ruby of the age
And flower of the life
And smile of the childhood
Laugh of now
And tear of future
My mom
You are my whisper
You are my dreams
And all my wishes
You are the nectar
That is streaming in my heart
And all yearning
You are the patience
And all longing
You are the perfume
That is spreading in my heart insides
And all my senses
My mom
An immortal world
And chest full of miracles

There was a bongoman, and he dreaming
Where the rock hovered above the blue sea
Looked through the white mist of a dew drenched morning
And clenched tight his memory of history
Black as midnight: showed me shining like day
Black Starliners, and his tears melted away.
Walk softly let me sing my song, redemption brings
The whip to silence and the heart to lift its wings
And then he laughed aloud, his heart beating
Drums like a flock of bird wings. This called me
Inexplicably to stand before him feasting
My eyes on his joy, and his tangled beauty
Of hair and form, without Samson's great flaws
I heard his covenant to Afric's laws:
No swine flesh in Selassie I temple
No labor for the rag of foul Babylon
Peace and love recovered of nature's principle
Keep's the dove in the flesh of the lion
Eating herbs as a lamb. And high above
The sea, the forest throbs with songs of love
He told his sorrows in Psalms recounting
Another's tragedy through which he claimed
His own, and whipped scuttled pride to rise surmounting
The shambled faith imposed on bodies maimed
By tyrant's culture and chains, to find
The cliff where Marcus Garvey led the blind
And made them see with power of his words
Towering Kilmanjaros of beauty
Breaking the sun, splintering its silver bright swords
Into strands, opening the majesty
Of wonders past on plain banana leaf
Feeding Anansi duckuno from grief
It does not matter anymore, the blames
The city lies upon his head; he cried
His tears for Babylon melting in oral flames
Bongo with Jah lives iver in the tide
Of Rastafari righteous inity
Behold the bongoman in divinity
I was late to school to know the bright lies
That silence permitted against his pain
The bongoman on the misty sea fastened his eyes
And searched for his Judah's Lion again
For out of him was life forever, dread
Life sweeter than the heaven of the dead.
And those ships, the angels of Marcus' dream
Make good covenant with the paucity
Of truth, and hold the bongoman in moonbeam
Dancing on rock point of belief, certainty
Mixed like bitter herbs in the ital food
Sweet as drums on the morning bright of mood.

Emblazoned on a metalic field
Leeds coat of arms displays an azore shield.
Upon a sable chief, this deep black bar,
Three mullets argent, silver stars.
On a chain of or, beneath the chief,
Hangs the finest golden fleece.
Surmounting the crest, rests a wreath of blue,
Perches an owl proper,of natural hue.
Supporting each side, two owls with plumage brown,,
Ducally gorged with a golden crown.
Underneath, inscribed on a scroll
PRO REGE ET LEGE it does extol.
Latin translates ' FOR KING AND THE LAW'
A motto born after civil war.

Far away in the West,
Far far away from my cuddles and caresses,
Lives my son,
Where rapid is the rise of the sun, where the sun is remiss to rest.
Where he is surmounting over all tides and tempest, searing snares and savoring success.
Where the winds herald his coming, where friends and foes at his behest.
Far away in the West,
Far far away from my cadences and caprices,
Lives my son,
In the land of dazzle, land of dare,
Land of fortune, land of absolute air,
Land of inventions, land of brewing beer.
Far away in the West,
Far far away from my dirge and distress,
Lives my son,
His dreams- a swift sturdy stallion,
Now smother him and saddle him towards shallow success.
The land where he once spent debonair doting days with me, is now a bygone ghostly galleon.
Far away in the West,
Far far away from my tears and trinkets,
My son , let me live in your heart’s undefiled chamber and let me glide in your soul’s virgin glade.

Alliteration
Silently shrill
a silent chill
seems to have run down the spine
of our blue planet windmill
So many deceased
Too many ill
mounting and surmounting
the hospital bill
Breathing for many
is like climbing uphill
or like panting on
your home treadmill
And it's frightening when
there is nil a pill.
A minute invisible
virus doth kill .
Pray to God for mercy
bow and kneel!
Many are dying
without a will
It's safer to stay home
by the window sill
The world seems to have come
to a standstill
You now have time to sharpen
your poetic quill
In lockdown pray
and ink still spill
You may hone
your poetic skill
Until the virus
has had its fill.
Corona they say feels like drowning
like a fish without a gill
for we can't breathe
like the eel or krill.
In mouths hot water
flush and swill
Exterminate this virus?
only God can and will.

Iambic Pentameter
Created by the omnipotent sovereign Almighty
I’m privileged to bear this scriptural distinction:
“fowl that may fly above the earth
in the open firmament of heaven.”
By virtue of a special proclamation
I have been declared the national bird of our country.
Soaring with such honour, I thank God
to be among the rarest and most powerful birds in the world.
As to my physical grandeur, endowed by my Maker
I’m satisfied with my dark face, creamy-brown nape and crown
Along my prominent, large, high-arched, deep beak that’s bluish-gray.
Likewise, my heavy legs are yellow, with large, powerful, dark claws.
Scientifically, I’m called “Pithecophaga jefferyi”
Formerly, however, I was labeled “monkey-eating eagle.”
News reports say that because of my size and rarity
I’m highly desired by birdwatchers.
Today, through the grace of the Lord, and my nation's faith
with the cooperation of conservationists
I, the Philippine eagle, am triumphantly thriving
surmounting my critical endangerment**.
*Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
**In 2010, the BirdLife International listed this species as critically endangered.

Personification
It takes many forms
None of which I'm familiar
From landscape affinity
To blood-born bonds
From mild infatuation
To sensory captivation
Intimate life creation
To declarations between nations
What of this ruthless red tie?
A billion prisoners and counting
Yet problem surmounting
Everything red and white
What of this ruby red tie?
Spawn of confessions
Expressions and obsessions
Most defiant of depression
What of this radiant red tie?
For which begins in the eyes
Comes as quite a surprise
Where there, you both lie
What of, this relentless red tie?
Invalidates, all sense
Justifies, any expense
For you my love, will never end...

Sharing
expresses love
surmounting selfishness
marked by compassionate act midst
giving.
God’s grace
flows smoothly well
offered freely to each
poured through divine vessel to give
to all.
Mercy
of the Lord shines
radiating great hope
as we share it with others now
and then.
Kindness
continually
reigns while rippling always
with gratitude since sharing deeds
prevail.
Virtue
caught from parents
learned, practiced and applied
sharing, giving with faith's joy does
praise God.

Dear God,
Thank you so much for making me your child through my faith in Jesus Christ, my Saviour and Lord... Keep me always trusting You, and living for You by Your grace, along Your power, and for Your glory.
As God's saved child, perseverant am I to love the Lord earnestly
Always thankful for the privilege to be cared by Him unconditionally...
With sweet favour to grow midst divine nature, enjoying provisions constantly
I render obediently my utmost to Him willingly!
As God's servant, striving am I to become better and more faithful
Always humbled by His grace, awesomely wonderful...
With granted inheritance so rich and full
I fulfill blissfully His assigned roles which are indeed purposeful!
As God’s steward*, persistent am I to practice essence of sacrificing
Always glad as recipient of His marvelous blessing...
With heavenly wealth possessing midst transformation-processing
I labour cheerfully for His work, spiritually advancing!
As God’s student, teachable am I to learn from the Scriptures
Always ready to follow biblical procedures of perfect wisdom-features...
With prudent warnings against worldly vultures
I invest wholeheartedly for eternal treasures in my reaching-out ventures!
As God's soldier, courageous am I to claim jubilant victory
Always prepared as commissioned to proclaim Christ's Gospel story...
With truth and mercy that combat hell's misery
I share diligently His peace for others' redemption toward heaven's glory!
As God’s strengthened prayer warrior, consistent am I to trust His might
Always blessed in expressing my supplications in fellowship delight...
With faith that pleases the Almighty along fervent intercession delight
I seek sincerely His approval while surmounting unbelief's blight!
As God's settled believer, repentant am I to confess my transgression
Always grateful for pardon that cleanses iniquities toward sanctification...
With His kindness to forgive my admitted sins and errors by His compassion
I live wholly for my Lord Who does the best for me midst His preservation!
