Trying to write sillies but love words keep popping
My brain's turned to mush, my love is non stopping
Life is a blast
What more could I ask
Than to feel this love, it's like a yummy sundae topping

Premium Member A Yummy Sundae Afternoon

A Yummy Sundae Afternoon
My tongue anticipates ice cream sundae
But do never indulge on a Monday
For that's the day the diet starts afore
Tuesday when diets fly out through the door.

I drool o'er yummy ice cream on my tongue
Thoughts of the tasty dish makes me so long
For strawberries served at afternoon tea
In a gooey knickerbocker glory.

With chopped nuts sprinkled and strawberry sauce
Those ice cream sundaes could win an award
With me they would be scored top of the pops
I am an expert as I devour lots.

Summer parties do well serving ice cream
Strawberries and chilled wine, truly a dream
With music, dancing, a natter and fun
Bringing magic moments beneath the sun.

Betwixt lucky lips my eager tongue licks
A mouth watering afternoon dish fix.

MUST BE THE WEATHER

Must be the weather
I'm floating on air
Nothing to distress me
No worries no cares

Life's a big hoot
Fun stuff nonstop
A hot fudge sundae
With a cherry on top

Some may say
“Man, get real”
Here's what I tell 'em
It's all how you feel

About life and it's trials
They're only a test
So hang in there people
Show 'em your best

I'll sum this thing up
With this bit of advice
If you feel like chuckling
Never think twice

Premium Member How To Enjoy a Sundae

 Sugary white snow
Dips smothered in sweet sauces;
how it cools my steamy palate.

A cocoa flood in a butterscotch,
strawberry ocean,
is a playground for peppy,
non-perils and nuts;
my banana-boat oasis,
topped with life’s spices.

Cinnamon-ginger bursts
spark vivid daydreams
of childhood summers;
a tasty refuge for the palate.

The creamery of life, bestows great joy;
to savor all of its toppings is…miraculous!

We named her Miss Sundae, our cat with a cause
She looks like a princess in 'Dairy Queen' sauce ...
(Vanilla ice cream, and butterscotch paws)
A calico lady of gold, brown and white
Her royalty reigns every day, every night

It's a ritual for her to sit on the back of the chair
Always there, near the desk, where I'm trying to write
While I'm sipping my coffee, she'll bask in the light

I'll scan the newspaper, digesting the news
But such effort's in vain, ...it is simply no use!
To read today's headlines, and the stories, so bleak
the economy's headaches, or the news of the week

Perhaps it is Sundae's practical joke...
She may have a bit of a jealous streak!
For she prods and she pokes, craving my strokes
She pokes holes in the paper....hops on my knees
Purring with ease....getting under my chin...with her Cheshire grin
Pushing aside, or squeezing within

She paws at my paper, this pesky dear pet
Requiring attention, her needs must be met!
If I'm reading a book, or there's a needle to thread
I must stop what I'm doing, and love her instead!

She creates a distraction, demands satisfaction
If a computer's in use....she needs no excuse
To lie on the keyboard....whatever her muse

It's all in her skill...with her purring.....I'm still...
At her mercy....my feline, she's a furry old cat
But I love her, my Sundae.......it's as simple as that!

Sundae

A base of thick biscuit
A sprinkle of nuts
All covered in thick chocolate sauce

A spray of whipped cream
A helping of fruit
Covered in hundreds and thousands of course

Oh Little Sundae Dipper

Oh Little Dipper Dipper,
what are you dipping for?
the sweetly vast vanilla seas,
or ginger cookie shores?

Oh little starlit ladle,
what swirls within your cup?
a batch of cotton candy clouds
you gently gathered up?

Or maybe licorice lava, cooled
from swaying in the night.
Or maybe bits of sour sun
and rays of lemon light.

Oh little diamond dipper,
if something tipped your tin,
would sugar flakes begin to fall?
would chocolate rain descend?

If ice cream comets tumbled,
be they pink or white or brown,
I wouldn't wear my boots or coat,
nor would I wear a frown.

'Cause Little Sundae Dipper, dad
and I believe that that's okay--
'cause everything's worth dipping for within our Milky Way!

Ice cream sundae
on our steamy honeymoon

Strawberries on top
Hell! we don’t need no spoon
Shared between our Tongues
salves those shrivelled prunes
God! she’s one sweet Dish
and it’s still only Afternoon

I scream Sunday!
on this torrid day in June

A Sundae For Balzac

Your treat, Monsieur de Honoré,
a sundae, hot fudge,
an iced cream dream
sans bureaucratic nightmares,
those trance-like states
of oh, so good men;
the static office-men
who barely skimmed life's
sweetness--that hot fudge sundae
nestled deep in the heart of all.
Time to eat up.
"Look! Monsieur de Balzac has already finished his!"

The inspiration for this poem came after reading
Monsieur Honoré de Balzac's novel, The Bureaucrats.

Sundae Spice

Do you remember
the first time we met?
I do: it was on a warm
sundae afternoon.

There were gales
of mischief and glee
all around, each cradling
a clear plastic bag,

with a treat of tumbleweed
trying to escape the rim:
banana, toffee or
vanilla flavoured

cotton candy; or
were they woolly fibres -
similar to the strands that
intermingle in your felted hair?

Premium Member Sundae and the Sunday Paper

Her name is Sundae, with four white paws...
Whatever her scheme whatever her cause
If I scan the newspaper, digesting the news
My effort is vain, ...there is simply no use!
Perhaps it is Sundae's practical joke...
It seems that this cat has a strong jealous streak!
For she prods and she pokes, craving my strokes
She pokes holes in the paper....hops onto my knees
Purring with ease....getting under my chin...with her Cheshire grin
Pushing aside, or squeezing within

She paws at my paper, this pesky dear pet
Requiring attention, till her own needs are met!
If I’m scanning a letter, there's a page to be read
I must stop what I'm doing, and love her instead!

It's all in her skill...wrinkled papers.....her thrill...
She's a sassy old cat, jealous lover, in fact...it's as simple as that!

Milk drip slid pooled lake lick languish
Cirus segments slice sour anguish
Berries bowl buried, sandwiched

Split banana smiles skinless raw
Pokes ice topped mountains tongues adore
Indulged inhibition, law

Melt pulp passionfruit volcano
Delish disallows you say no
Seed sea syrup sweet halo

Sundae dips silky mango dice
Cubes correspond smooth cream entice
Twang of mandarin comes twice
