Best Somersault Poems
When sea gods invisibly show their glory
They’re escorted by their elusive sea army;
Vow before them, their loud rhapsodic chords play,
As heard in light of blue waves on summer day.
Marvelous army with mighty spiral swords
Hewed by sea gods, their magnificence- behold!
Their trimmed trident’s tines conjure like somersault,
Wish I'm sea god’s knight to ride on them and joust.
Coastal birds herald their rare presence with glee
With ineffable joy, breeze hums sweet ditty;
Surfs break in applause beneath the granite cliffs
As splendid narwhals’ display… nature breaths…sniffs~
Narwhals are great sea god’s mighty unicorns,
They’re special sea army, prides of Poseidon!

Emerald etchings are given birth
to bask their lives in summer's sun,
until brushing brutal winters cheek,
They cower yellow; brown undone.
Swirling down onto concrete pyres,
They somersault to a random grave.
The earth lays claim to copper corpses
But the winter wind is a cunning knave.
It finds and flips the fallen fibers,
then flings them crisply to the street.
The failing sheaves of burnt magenta,
tossed like chaff from harvest wheat.
Now strewn about with playful malice,
and denied the resting place they crave,
for the golden sun is a glint of amber,
but the winter wind is a chilling knave.

Going inward
Receiving moments of grace
While time unfolds
Touching your heart with my breath
An expansion
Doorways to enter
Each gift revealed through my willingness
Vulnerability my partner
Coaxing me towards unimagined pleasure and pain
Letting my mind expand
Memories of days
Exploring and discovering
Baiting my first hook
My Father’s deep voice guiding me
Watching his strong hands
Red wigglers in dirt
Alive in a styrofoam cup
We bait our hooks together
Plunge our fishing poles into the pond
A silent communication
Connection shared
Anticipation
Sunlight dancing off the ripples
A moment I carry with me now
Always grateful for my
Depth of consciousness
Inhaling, I travel through time
Naked, I make my way through
Beckoning aqua kissed waters
I look ahead and swim
Allowing sunrays to bathe my body in their warmth
Marbled hues sing out
Bubbles rise
Shadows and sunbeams in a lover’s embrace
I perform a weightless somersault
Smiling in delight as I catch glimpses
Of the watery kingdom encompassing me
Vowing to keep this sacred moment
Alive in my soul forever
From behind a towering coral
You appear
My royal rainbow Parrotfish
Who I have dreamed of
For an eternity
Come to me dear one
Show me your tapestry of glittering scales
Allow me to touch your soft skin
So I may delight in the magic
Of all that you are
Let us glide through the
Nuanced waters of life
Let us experience all the shades
Of dark and light as one
Fill our souls with laughter and love
Let’s ride these undulating tides with kindness
Touching the hearts of others
Joining hands with those in need
Creating an arena
Where all will be heard
Swim with me now
Let’s journey forth
Together my love

I was just sitting there writing when I saw her stroll in,
I wasn’t alone, all eyes followed those curves sashaying
as if she owned the place and maybe she did. . .
if a heart can skip a beat, mine did a somersault.
Obviously cut from a finer cloth
than these eight dollar trousers ever found in their pockets,
the fit much better too, a warm hug on a cold December day
lingering in the moment
She sat down at the crescent shaped bar,
ordered a martini, neat, pulled a crisp twenty from her clutch
and brushed a few stray brunette hairs from her face,
the mirror behind the bar happily reflecting her beauty
Raising the drink to her ruby red lips
I found myself wishing I were that glass,
smeared in her favorite shade, kissed by a sighing sip,
caressed by porcelain fingers wiping sweat from a glistening neck
A jewel in this dingy joint, shimmering in the dusty haze,
breathing some class into this oblong shadow
that had seen better days, but none like this, like her.
She was out of place like fine wine in a shot glass . . . but didn’t seem to care
She lifted a cigarette to her mouth, I was quick with a match,
watching as tobacco embers flared and smoke rose upward, swirling about freeform.
Putting her lips together she blew out the flame
with a whisper of breath that made me weak in the knees, “Thank you.”
I stared, forgetting the spent match I held between my fingers,
tongue tied or mesmerized, take your pick, both answers are correct.
“You’re welcome”, I stuttered like a school boy in braces, “new around here?”
“Kind of”, her voice as chiffon is soft, “I heard I might find a poet here . . . ”
To be continued . . .
Please check out parts 2 and 3 if you get a chance.

Epic
Beneath the illumination of the elliptical moon,
Within the cove of diamond bay, waves gently sway
Back and forth, under the oceans clarity of the big blue,
As the surfs foam and spray roll against the white sandy
Beaches beyond.
Hush the breeze whispers to the gulls above, hush, hush now,
Be still, for soon they will come, but these chatter snappers.
Refuse to yield in their battering’s scrawling, until the ocean
Itself-lashes out at them to be quiet.
In the silence of the timeless, in the paused hush of the
Aquatic wilderness, something stirs.
Behold the leaping lords of the blue abyss,
Breaching upwards, as if to tenderly kiss the moon above,
Thanking it for another day of life, to live wild and free,
Beneath the waves of infinity, of the big blue.
Dancers on fins of grace, seemingly toe stepping on the
Waves in a delicate balance, just for a second of brilliance
Display, while others incline in a somersault acrobatic
Air assault, to pay homages respect to the magnificent
Ocean for its eternal beauty, and salvation's refuge.
These gray phantoms of the divine ethereal realm,
Born with purity’s heart of innocence, true creatures
Of light and love, shine in the diamond star dust of twilight.
Birthed within the quaking wake of the lords divining hands,
At the moments his voice rose, in the beginning of time itself,
Dividing the light from the darkness, the dolphin took its first
Air breath of life, and the Lord Almighty,
Smiled down upon his aquatic creation with warmth and love.
Perfections free falling divers, enchanting the human heart
With their graceful swiftness, stealth and intelligence.
The sailor’s guardians at sea, these vigilant sentinels of the
Briny depth, follows the surging storms hailing, and await
To assist in the deist hour of humanities greatest need.
Within their loving pod, the young are nurtured by devotions
Breasts of giving, no tender a mother can ever be found
Then she the dolphin, born from the grace of God himself.
In the silence of the timeless, in the paused hush of the
Aquatic wilderness, something stirs beneath the waves
Of clarity.
Behold the leaping lords of the blue abyss,
Breaching upwards, as if to tenderly kiss the moon above,
Thanking it for another day of life, to live wild and free,
Beneath the waves of infinity, of the big blue.

Collapsed
Why am I standing here feeling naked and alone?
How did I even arrive here from where I've been?
I use to have everything in perfect picture order,
perfect life, perfect family, perfect job, perfect friends...
But how did I get here again to this time and place?
Oh yah it's because I lost every perfect everything
One day on top of the world, the next day totally ruined
This building is so high, do you think I might grow wings...
It's all so hard to grasp, I mean even my family left
Wife just took our kids then kissed me on the forehead,
smiled sadly, turned around, and walked out the door
You see that's why I'm jumping because I'm already dead...
A day that will be remembered throughout all history
The day when everything collapsed in our financial world
Ruined in one minute, it's so baffling, now I'm nothing
I step over the ledge do a somersault and a final twirl...

That girl gave me the coolest kiss,
as the snowflakes were falling all around
I felt like I was ten again,
making snow angels on the ground
That long red-haired girl,
with the mint breath and the frosted lips,
made a fifteen-year-old hipster like me
wanna do backward somersault flips
When she gave me that surprise kiss,
it felt like time had frozen completely
as a fire started growing inside me
That girl with the flame-colored hair
was melting me
That girl with the chocolate chip
ice cream tasting lips
was turning me into Mr. Frosty ---
as the snow ... man, it kept coming down
I think I'm in love with her,
but I forgot to ask her what is her name
Next time I see her,
I'm gonna tell that girl with the frosted lips,
who gave me the coolest kiss,
to put me at the top of her secret admirer list

Nocturnal butterflies chase anguish deep,
Mascara trails darken powder-white skies,
Peering t’wards nowhere unwilling to sleep,
Fearful lost visions seen within her eyes.
Within her eyes had love long ago deep,
Traipsed color cartwheels in somersault skies,
Peering tomorrows where marriage would sleep,
Next to her soulmate seen within her eyes.
Nocturnal swimmers dove caverns too deep,
Well after twilight gave way midnight skies,
Peering salt-water caves where love would sleep,
Death buried cocoons bloomed within her eyes.

I come from the borough of Queens, New York
My classmates call me a Klutz and a dork
Those names pervaded my soul, taking a toll
Being at the bottom of the totem pole.
Then Dad took me to the town of Tortilla Flat
I walked into a store, bought a ten-gallon hat
I started talking like John Wayne, also bought some boots
It’s funny how a costume can make a mind slip its roots
The ranchers nodded with respect; I looked like them
Cowgirls smiled in my direction, one shone like a gem
She said there’s a rodeo at half past three
Come join us there, my friends and me.
I said sure, I’ll mosey down there
I’ll bring some popcorn that we all can share
When the time came, I walked into the ring
But through the wrong door, that was the thing.
Two guys lifted me onto a horse, and opened the gate
I shouted, “I’m not a performer!” but it was too late
The horse bolted out, then tried a somersault
I held on for dear life, couldn’t them girls call a halt?
They told me later, t’was the worst horse in the west
I flew over its mane, but it was a personal best
The crowd went wild, but I threw the hat on the mud
Dropped all the popcorn, wiped off the blood
The cowgirl looked adoring, said “that was so cool”
I looked at her, but my mood was cruel
Said “I’m a nerd from Queens, don’t want to pretend
Keep that dang hat, this all got to end."
Dad took me home, the worse for wear
He got me a baseball hat so nobody would stare.
I put it on backwards, I don’t really care
Buy the wrong hat, and it’s dangerous out there.

Lyric
Poised to dive into the drink below
the deodorant on the shelf above put on a show
while the toothbrushes looked on with a big grin
the deodorant dove like a champ and took a swim,
The toothbrushes held up all their signs
most of them giving his dive a nine
not satisfied he had wanted a perfect 10
he stood above the toilet ready to jump again,
But before he could jump he quickly froze
hearing the man of the house shuffle in and impose
turning the light on he quickly went pee
the toothbrushes averting their eyes quickly,
Finishing up he flushed and put the lid down
leaving the bathroom the deodorant had a frown
the toothbrushes said don't worry we'll fill up the sink
so the deodorant moved above it ready to jump into the drink,
All eyes were fastened on him poised above
knowing that swimming was one of the deodorants first loves
the deodorant concentrated and then leapt off
giving him a perfect ten for a triple somersault!
After awhile they all got tired and went to sleep
taking their positions on the shelf above the toilet and sink
the man of the house soon catching on to their hijinks
putting a "closed for the season" sign on the toilet and sink,
But that didn't stop their bathroom shenanigans
they just came up with a different plan
this time they were extra quiet as they filled up the tub
but the man of the house caught on and pulled the plug
So swimming was now a gone past time
so they constructed with dental floss a zip line
zip lining from the top of the shower to the floor
that is till they heard the creak of the bathroom door...

Questions are proliferating,
people search for answers
in old pants pockets
in long discarded purses.
The scampering feet of baby philosophers
can be heard from the moon.
The media is stymied, they are manipulating,
confiscating and hiding behind the backs
of massively overgrown ballers,
willy-nilly they scribble an alternative reality
upon indoor swimming pools.
The manic mayhem of our daily grind
is wearing our hair thin,
Somebody should take control of the truth,
but it keeps dodging questions
and slamming doors behind it.
Mark my words with invisible ink,
scratch a cat behind its ears,
somersault all you like
but we are all getting overrun
by imperfect pontifications
by the indecent Doctors of spin.
and all this endless self-questioning
keeps replying over and over again
but only in unbreakable code.

I cant explain the happy mood
Im feeling at this time
It makes me want to somersault
And twist and twist around
I feel as if i might just fly
Feeling really light
I can't explain the happy mood
Im feeling at this time
But i hope that after reading this
You'll smile all the time...
