For those avid crossword groupies of which I are one,
I'm offering free of charge vital data to add to your fun.

So you're stuck on 15-down for the name of a barren of mules!
Groups of creatures you can now name if you use this set of rules!

A group of apes is a shrewdness and a gang of asses is a pace.
Tigers are a streak and you'd better streak should they give chase!

Can you believe that skittish plovers are called a congregation?
(I wonder, perhaps Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic or other denomination?)

You might see a cackle of hyenas or a tower of giraffes at zoos,
Or if on a Kenyan safari a bloat of hippos or a fleet herd of gnus.

The name for a prickle of porcupines is an appropriate moniker for sure!
A sleek bunch of ferrets is called a business, and, why, I'm unsure.

Pesky squirrels are called a scurry and a warren is for rabbits.
(There are many warrens of rabbits due to their promiscuous habits!)

Badgers are grouped as a cete and leopards are known as a leap;
Moles are known as a labor and a herd or drove identifies sheep.

Parliaments of owls meet in trees and eagles in convocations.
Jellyfish waft about in smacks and peacocks strut in ostentations!

Screeching cormorants are a gulp which sounds mighty weird.
Steer clear of a crash of rhinos since they are to be feared!

Charming finches are called a charm and larks an exaltation,
Turkeys a rafter, frogs an army and starlings a murmuration.

Locusts are known as a plague and cockroaches an intrusion.
An unkindness of ravens and their raucous caws just causes confusion!

Groups of humans are known as Republicans, Democrats or Nazarenes,
Jerks and morons but this barely includes all human species by any means!

More Than One

Quizmasters often test mentalities,

by asking folks to name pluralities,

of things of many different sorts.

Like, soldiers might be called 'cohorts'.

There are 'flights' of geese and jets and stairs,

my socks are sometimes found in 'pairs'.

A young girl's curls could hang in 'bangs',

and crooks might hang about in 'gangs'.

Such gangs could join to form a 'mafia',

alas that only rhymes with 'raffia'.

Apes, as you'd know, can make a 'shrewdness',

could rednecks joined become a 'rudeness'?

And though Collingwood fans are two a penny,

more than one is just 'Too Bloody Many'.

Unless you have been in the same pub or football ground with Collingwood fans, or on the same train or tram or continent, you will never understand.

Let There Be Light

Ignite your heart and let there be light
When darkness of lust ushers love and peace take flight
The claws of wars and strife maul the face of mankind
Termite of time swallows the soul and mind

Souls are blackened with pretence and lies
The colorful rainbow vanishing from skies, ugliness thrives
The demon of greed let loose, multiplies
The ravaging of earth being witnessed by skies

Let us harness the wild horse of desires
Life is short build no empires
Listen O you! Mubaraks, Gaddafis, Saddams and likes
Repent before the mighty hand of Providence strikes

Cyrus, Caesar and Alexander’s might
All vanished and nowhere in sight
Their pomp, grandeur, diamonds and gold
Perished, robbed, squandered and sold

Why then rob, steal and store
Insatiable lust wanting more and more
The glamour of wealth you so much adore
Vanishes through the other door

The edifice of your political power, your strength
Your greed and lust going to any length
Have sealed the destiny of all oppressed
Frail, embittered, forlorn, depressed

You caterers of misery, anguish and sorrow
Known tyrants of history tomorrow
Those that rely on shrewdness and cunning
Those that natures calls keep shunning

The wealth of the nation, a trust treat
Listen to what sense and sanity entreat
Ignite your heart with the flame of love and care
Spare the nation from anguish and despair

Well thank God they left. Nice local sports bar; I sat close to an elderly man, probably 80 years old, and a younger guy that was his son, as I gathered from their conversation. The old boy kept an even keel and decently good humor throughout; he was used to it; the allowances we make for close family; or no use to fight a battle now. Much of what the son said bounced off and ended up on the floor, like water off a duck's back, and thank God for that too. I was instantly irritated - the constant patter of vacuous suggestions from the son as to what the father should be doing in his life, what he should do differently.

Just look at him: the old guy is fine, you can tell just by seeing him. But the son, ah now this was worthy of a stage character, the slight build, the receding hairline, the pencil-thin mustache, a mousey look overall, even rat-like, with furtive eye movements and almost constant physical twitches, he must fear silence indeed to have the need to fill it with such drivel, if not telling his father how to improve his life, he was proclaiming his own shrewdness and ambition, such prowess we rarely see, to joke about it - ah, when the truth is that he's a 35 year old in a job that would be barely good enough for a 20 or 25 year old. When you have to go on about it so, we all know it's not the truth. I never once snorted, or caught the old guy's gaze and rolled my eyes; I stayed within myself.

Maybe it's just me. Really, how bad could it be? Well no, it's not just me - any sane person would be inwardly cringing, massively, fighting the urge to run screaming into the night before the younger man's words induced brain cancer in them. What a world....

But I suppose that at least a little bit it is just me.

Persistent for truth, he
   probes to find the answers.
      Perceiving, his judgment
         penetrates with shrewdness.
            Prepared and accurate,
               prodigious in his work,
                  part skill, part detective.

The Rabbit and the Fox-The Alliance

There were wolves, coyotes and wildcats:
all fighting for supremacy in vast grasslands,
but envy made them greener than grass and harder than rock...
trying to break up the alliance between the rabbit and the fox.

Morning came without delay as light shone on the dusky, sea-weeded reefs;
they silently gathered behind the tallest weeds resembling hungry beasts,
hoping they'd pass by and entrap them and have a meal...
and they waited many hours to make that imagined kill.

How could they outsmart a rabbit with his agility
and a fox with his shrewdness? Their plot had to have ingenuity
to make them fall for that something they desperately craved...
and what was it they were looking for? Was it flesh they desired?

These two harmless animals looked out for each other ,
any unfamiliar sound or noise would make them shiver
and alarm them to keep a sharp eye on anything that moved...
even a gecko climbing rocks would would make them feel awkward.

And the shy rabbit and the sly fox gave a hint to hunters,
pointing where they were hiding:  in the shade of poison oaks;
not knowing that they would have a mad rash so unexpected...
they ran chased by a dozen of dogs as the rabbit and foxed reveled.

The wolves, coyotes and wildcats vowed revenge, if they ever escaped;
no rabbit or fox would survive in their territory...if they were found
snoozing under the shady wildflowers or on the top of logs:
they'd surely be the perfect treat for their growling stomachs!

The rabbit and the fox finally enjoyed their freedom and loyalty
by planning a more effective strategy despite fret or calamity.

Nous

You seem to like a complex life.
You go out looking for struggle and strife.
You call this just a step up to the cause.
Do you solve any issues at all?
Then I see that you have team played.
An empowerment zone is therefore, staged.
Once established, you have become a trailblazer.
This is your political arena made.

Your socio-economical world is the USA.
The United States of America is multilayered.
Your aspect is as a business negotiator.
Comprehensive to law and perceptive to economic growth, you have
     formed a workforce.
Your showground is pitched.

Shrewdness is a characteristic of yours that many of your followers state
     is the rapport.
You understand all facets of the workforce and demonstrate implemented
     components of a socio-economical world.
Nous is the epithet gave.
As a catalyst, this is not just a radical phase.

What are the factors of your continued success?
You must stay involved.
Political activism
You must stepped to the cause.
Political advocacy

CUPID/EROS

Oh! Erato,
Muse of the poetry of love
Inspire me today
I supplicate you for
I aspire for HIM to write
HIM: CUPID, the son of Venus
Goddess of beauty, and of Mercury,
The cunning messenger
Of Gods

Guide my pen, Oh, Muse,
I implore you, a hymn for
HIM to write
A worthy hymn
For this sweet winged-tyrant of
Mortals’ hearts,
This merciless despot of
Mankind

The looks of his mother taken and
The shrewdness of his father
Irresistible forever
Has remained and
Easily into our souls
Uninvited infiltrates, paralyzing
Every resistance of
Ours

Then unopposed
He marches on:
Conquering every heart,
Subjugating every will,
Dominating every mind and
Becoming the absolute master
Of our being

No armies are able to resist
His charms
No troops are willing to make a
Stand against him
Instead, they are:
Readier to embrace the shadow of death, than
To live under the Sun of the living

Readier to be defeated by Cupid’s sweet arrows, than
To be victorious

Readier to exist in shameful infamy, than
To claim fame eternal

Easy for me is now
To comprehend
Divine, Homer,
Who describes you, CUPID, as
 “Invincible in battle.”

Yes, YOU are INVINCIBLE,
Indeed!
For no mortal, no matter how
Powerful,
Be he a king or a simple soldier,
Is willing to take arms
Against you on the battlefield
Of love
But he eagerly his soul
Trades for
Just a probable morsel of
Happiness,
A dim hope of love eternal
And thus,
Without giving a single blow,
CAPITULATES!

Perfections View

Perfection is just a monkey’s nightmare.
Each imperfection is humanities dare.
Reality of beauty is in what you see clear.
Faces of each are different in no err.
Each person has beauty with flair.
Character may be what they wear.
Today or yesterday makes them aware.
Impression of another or even compare,
Only will configure others to stop and stare.
New imperfections will be what they share.
Shrewdness should be careful and rare.

View not of appearance or ensnare.
Individuality is the key affair.
Exemplary beauty is in the heart to spare.
We just expect more for all to declare.

Light In Darkness

I lost myself in dense darkness
Leading into a quagmire-like place
My mind do have shrewdness
But this time it's not the case

Only fools lead owns self astray
In the place of no light
Where it's senseless to take flight
Place's price you need to pay

There is a place of light
But why go to the night
It shows we are foolish
We make our own life hellish

Indeed, most of the time we are idiotic
But need not to be frantic
Because by God light was created
So that in darkness we can be guided

3HOPE

I sit alone in the dark feeling lonely
My loneliness lingers
As the last drop of rain
Have gone away
I breathe the warm rays of sunlight
And feel life's enlivening all around me
Yet, cannot dwell within me

I hear the delight
Cast by a million multicolored flowers
Against a backdrop of life-giving streams
No longer locked from the movement
By the oppressing cold

I can feel the spirits
Of eternal joy
Reach out with fingers
With either...my heart and soul
Only to get so close
Then fade away
Into the engrossing sound
Of my beating heart

With each pound...
The blood flows
But cannot control the rupturing

With each pump...
It becomes closer and closer
To the single dull-witted note
Amidst a chorus of shrewdness

With each nodal constriction...
It reverberates
The relentless walls of Ego's Tower
Protruding a lifetime above me

Each beat...becomes double
Each second...becomes a cosmos
Created by the perfectly harmonic structure
Of my sorrow

In a world of parabolic wonders
I see only
The hues of my transparent prison
Faded
To a perfect seamless gray
In a hopelessness
Declining
Into the deepest strata
Of selfishness

I cry...from pity...I cry...
With tears
Blurring the world
I wander
On roads of sadness
And darkness
On the perpetual
Wheel of failure.

I see it...
A Glimmer...
Yes!
A sparkle...
A distance too great
To comprehend; Yet it is there

I am drawn to it…
I am pulled…
As I struggle
With each advancing moment
I try to get away…
I turn to retreat…
Into my tower…
It protected me.

Odinkwa Kiyoshi Smalling

Offering yielded, yield back to the sovereign king
Devoted to duty, rise in the morning of its flame
Intellect's child, imprinted on Yahweh's soaring wing
Nurturer. natured with heaven's milk, sweet you came
Kindness kindled in hibiscus fire, passion against defeat
Wisdom that shall not from the incongruous retreat
Ambitious heart, panting at the throne for armory of grace

Kingly, in my visions, I yielded you to lead my void
Imaginatively, so imaginations tower may rise aloft
Young, youthful, fresh to hold the course against doubts slide
Organized and organizing the voyage of culture's craft
Sacred ship, through bulrush castling a kingdom's name
Honest to the core of soul, humble to life's bright esteem
Innocent of vice, I wanted a cornerstone of unscaffold dream

Son of shrewdness, Smalling brimming to honeyed core
Motivated and motivating the journey abandoned at the door
Ask now the art to feel, and from your feelings yield
Learned lessons where the learned mind may drink again
Lead, listen, what winds the sails of your people keel
Inspirer of them, feel you not the mettle masking in your grain
Native of the civilized past, nest not now in silence down
Gallantry calls the gallant, and God his grace the gracious has shown.

Paranoia

How can I live in this world,
Where flattery, hypocrisy, coax, bigotry, shrewdness, impersonation are huddled?
But I’m a dunce to do all of these utterly necessary characteristics.

How can I live in this world,
Where killing, corruption, forgery, treachery are inseparable part of success?
But I’m a coward of accepting this kill or to be killed ideology.

How can I live in this word,
Where fornication, rape, seduction, adultery, spumes of sperm, prowling and attacking of vaginas are so recommended to be a hero, a man?
But I’m disgorging of thinking these stuffs.

How can I live in this world,
Where money, wealth, contentiousness, covetousness are the scale of being counted as a human?
But I’m fool to imagine of these terrestrial crowns.

How can I live in this world,
Where I cannot cope up with me,
I can’t believe me,
I can’t love me,
I can’t forgive me,
I can’t touch me,
I can’t respect me,
I can’t make understand me,
I can’t endure me,
I can’t ………..
