Best Shies Poems

I Look To the Moon

I look to the Moon, hanging aloft
Among the clouds so milky soft.
How must it feel, so high above?
So chilled and bleak and void of love.

Collapsed and sunken are his eyes,
Dark and deep as the onyx skies.
As the Moon shies from the sun,
I share no love with anyone.

The Moon is alone, without affection.
In its grim face is my reflection.
Inside my heart, the longing grows,
And rots my soul, a sickly rose.

While I look beyond this cage,
I clench my fists; they shake with rage.
I desperately stare above,
Wishing to fly, free as a dove;
For release from the troubled heart I claim,
To be finally rid of the madness and shame.

Although reprieve is found in song,
To no one does my soul belong.
In music, may the pleas be spoken,
But all in vain; the heart is broken.

The Sphere returns, begins to sigh.
We are not so different, You and I.
So twisted and fractured is the White Stone.
We both have no one; We are both all alone.

Premium Member Where Can I Find You

Where can I find you?
Where are you hiding?
I've asked the Stars
they remain silent
I've asked the Moon
night after night
from full moon to crescent and back
she shies away from me...
Not a word
I ask the Sun
from sunup till sundown
I beg and cajole
The blazing eye in the sky
to speak of you
To tell me where he has last seen you
To put aside his jealousy
that I long for your heat more than his
In anger he burns and doesn't say a word
I ask the sea
I ask every living tree
From the flowers I plead
"Tell me, little ones...
Have you seen him?
Have you seen my love?"
They sway and sway
Though he loves them so...
Not a word they say

I ask my heart,
"Have you seen my love?
It's been so very long...
So very long since I felt his touch
and heard his voice
Have you seen my love,
Tell me, where has he gone?"

My heart speaks,
"Silly child...
All this time and you have not heard him speak?
What is each beat?
What is this inner pounding you hear?
Is it not his voice?
Can you not hear?
He is here...
He is resting in me
Not to be harmed
Yes, don't be alarmed
He is here in your little heart

Of what use is the sun, moon, stars, and sea
When he lies safe in me
You can find him also in your mind
There, in there, my little one
He is who you want him to be
He loves you as you want to be loved
In your heart
In your mind
He lives and breaths and moves
Can't you see?
Can't you hear?
Listen to me."

Wearied from my search
I lay down on my bed
I closed my tear filled eyes
and placed my hand on my chest
I felt the beating of my heart
and I thought of you
I smiled
and I thought of you
The Moon sent her silvery messengers
To caress and sooth me
and with the light of dawn,
The Sun came to warm my thoughts
And I rose to a new day
With no questions in my heart
With nothing left to say
For my lover was in me...

Premium Member We Wait

The world awaits with bated breath
pause, listen and most all feel
there it is, a deep sense drumming
in the back ground coming to life.

we all feel it, indeed yearn for it
insistently wait for it to come
then all of a sudden we can feel
the gradual warmth winter is defeated.

He shies away taking with him the freeze
allowing SPRING her rite of passage
everything comes back into blossom
almost battling each other for its space

All around we see new tender leaves
feel her warmth stirring things to life
watching birds fly to and thro building
busily their nests for new hatchlings

Riotous notes peel out thrilling us
as delightfully they fill the skies.
Snow drops fading as crocus fill
beds with startling shades of colour.

At last we can peel of the extra layers
wear our pretty clothes never can we
match Spring's awesome display of style
Indeed she gayly leads us towards Summer

Alive

It beats, It flutters
Its strong, Its weak
It bleeds, It heals
It hungers, It feasts
It breaks, It mends
It suffers, It flourishes

Its warm, Its cold
It makes a stand, It shies away
Its hopeful, Its hopeless
It desires, It repels
It takes, It gives

Boundless or bound
Free or held down
The human spirit beats with a life whether known or unknown...

up at the moon with leaden eyes

it shies,

A True Nigerian

A true Nigerian is brave like the Lion,
He is courageous, hospitable and kind.
He never shies away from responsibilities;
In his hearts of heart he controls all within him.
Through faith, he moves without stopping;
Even when there are many road blocks, he conquers.

A true Nigerian is patriotic and loyal,
He is not a gambler nor a fraudester.
He walks to achieve a common goal; unity.
He sees black as black and white as white.
He is the eyes that the country boast of home and abroad when he brings home the glory of love.
A true Nigerian never discriminates among his people.

A true Nigeria is a good leader in his home and country, he sees beyond looting of money and
Embazzlement of public fund in his trust.
A true Nigeria is perfectly perfect in perfection,
He is not dubious as you may think and have in your
Wrongly wronedg mind of mind towards him.

A True Nigerian is never lazy and idle like they say,
He is hardworking, goal driven, dreamer and doer.
He knows his rights and obligations in his society.
A true Nigerian is a true African decorated with an
Unfading black blood in his strongly strong vein.
He is honest, gentle, courageous and easy-going man.
A true Nigerian is a poet because he sees beyond you.

A true Nigerian is holy not fanatic fool in the church.
A true Nigerian believes and hope in the land of his forebears that goodness shall spring out from it.
He is educated, intelligent, world class citizen and
A thunder that strikes to destroy evil among his people.
He looks right into your eyes and tell you tomorrow.
A true Nigerian is a reader not a watcher of event,
He is a researcher, world class entrepreneur.

A true Nigerian obeys the laws of the land,
He is a goal getter among all in the World.
Show me a million succeessful men around the world and; I will show you thousand of Nigerians among them.
We are blessed in many ways, nurished with a talent of gifts; Nigerians are blessed and uplifted.
We believe that If something that was going to chop off your head only knocked off your cap, you should be grateful and when a girl has beauty without Brains, the Private parts suffer the most.
We are Nigerians, we are proudly Nigerians.

Autobiography of Eyes

Hello! We are a pair of eyes,
gifted to a human so nice.
To express our peaceful cries,
a poet, on our behalves, hereby tries.

Above the tongue which seldom lies,
below the brain which thinks wise,
with an oval shape and small size,
we see the guise and the disguise.

Our eyelids blink when tensions rise,
eyelashes prohibit the dust that flies,
with eyebrows, the face also beautifies,
our morphology looks concise.

Seeing light, the pupil shies,
the lens can minimize and maximize,
on retina, image forms of different size,
our physiology is very precise.

A few disorders we list in concise,
myopia produces bills before eyes,
night blindness disturbs after moonrise,
cataract warns after grey hair arise.

We request the humans with eyes,
for good vision, give us exercise,
after death, do donate your eyes, and
feel the tears when a human cries.

Lone Wolf

It must have been a difficult journey;
The path your life has taken;
To make you not trust another;
And left you feeling forsaken.

In bitterness and anger;
For past wrongs and betrayals;
You keep a safe distance;
So if approached you would avail.

The wound inside your spirit;
That mistrust will not allow to heal.
Is compensated with fears and doubts;
And prevents your heart to feel.

For you vowed that you would never;
Get close to anyone again.
For a heart that has been broken;
You spend your life in defense.

Lone wolf is what you are;
destined to be alone;
Fearing love and intimacy;
Making nowhere your home.

The only one you truly punish;
For the hurt you feel inside.
Is the wolf who shies from happiness;
Because of a wounded pride.

I Will Love You Forever - Tale of a Broken Heart

Woke up early in the morning
With eyes full of tears of happiness
And a heart with a bit of craziness
Walked towards the mirror
And looked into my eyes
I blushed and smiled
Just like a young girl shies
A hope was in my heart
And spark in the eyes
I walked down the lane
With my stomach full of butterflies
I picked some roses from the nearby mart
Those red ones close to your heart
With a smile on my face
And heart beating on a pace
I waited for you
At your favourite place
But you came there with someone else
And made roses slip from my hands
I was speechless and broken at heart
My world was fallen apart
I put a fake smile in front of you
But my heart was screaming name of you
I saw you so happy with him than ever
So I gathered the pieces
And my courage however
I ran home and locked myself inside
I put my broken heart on a side
I was weeping loud in the dark
I was hurt so deep by the memories of park
I didn't knew what to do
My life was blown apart without you
You were my love
And you were my life
Without you my life is a strife
Without you I feel breathless
 This world seems me to be heartless
Now I am broken
I am depressed
I am alone
And I am embarrassed
Was it my fault or all my fate
That I missed you to get
As my soulmate
But wherever you go you stay happy
My heart  prays for you
Coz this heart still beats only for you

My Horse

I ride my horse, I ride it fast, I’ve never known it to complain,
it doesn’t speak, it doesn’t weep, it takes me through the pouring rain.

I give it oats, I brush its coat, I keep it warm in Winter’s days.
close to my home, close to my kids, close to my heart it always stays.

I found a mare, I’ve oats to spare, it now has found its company.
if she is cold, and shies away, it knows its friend is always me.

a year has passed, a colt was born, I watch them all run in the field,
and as I work, as I grow old, my love for them can’t be concealed.

no pulling carts, no pulling plows, nothing but grazing in the grass,
my kids will love each generation, and care for each one when I pass.

Premium Member The Mountain Goat

Stark against the skyline
On a pinnacle he stands,
Tranquility and peace divine,
In the domain he commands.

Leaping and bounding ever free,
And humbly we try to follow,
When approached he shies timidly,
And runs to the rest in the hollow.

Always proving his superiority
While moving so gracefully too,
Humans only have authority
To appreciate the view.

Tender, Bruised and Scarred.

Grief that constricts my heart,
Cages its screaming walls,
Grinding its bars roughly into its flesh…
Where they meet, blood oozes,
Life does what it chooses,
Heart shies away from the pain of its mesh.

A Winter Morning In Dehradun

Darkness persists,
Then in moments appears the vitreous hue
On the horizon
as vision from nowhere filters through
the benighted heavens
the lonesome moon shivers
in apprehension
as her belamy flickers its last
and regresses into the past

Tranquility resounds everywhere
a peace so peaceful and joy so joyous
for everyone to share
yet who but the few stricken by Love
 or the ever awake mother dove
have from their slumber this trice to spare
or perhaps the farmer awoken
by some dream that tickled his heart
or the wife goaded by some urgent task
to be done from her chores apart
or the breaved who keep vigil over their dear
ones or those forced by hunger or tiresome wear.
Apart from these, the wandering fog and the silent trees
the cold dead rock and the chilling breeze
testify the morning cheer

More light pours in and nature shows herself
the fog dissolves
the clouds are red and gray
the mynahs and parrots shatter the silence
the rooster announces the day;
the lingering mist over the pond kisses the cold water
as lovers parting at the break of day
after lovely long night hours.

The roscid chrysanthemum shies away
at such a doughty act and shudders
as the wind steals its fragrance and makes it sway;
Harrow! the witeless fogs are wiped by the dour rays
of the Sun, who infuses life in the world of men.

Night and Rain

NIGHT AND RAIN

Up there in the sky,
Holding on, on so high..
Where the banana
shines and shies,
Smiling night after night
Giving ur light.

In the sad cloud,
Where tears are formed
And the thunder laugh
out loud.
In bits and drops, it falls.

Then in the morning
lights,
Where the dropped
tears
Marked mud against
The face of the earth.
Then children hopscotch
On the playground of
thrills.
