Freyja’s Rival
( And may the Great Queen of the Norse Forgive me )
It’s a sun scintillation of a today
The sky a sharp atmospheric
Crystal blue chimes
Reaches to the untold dominion of stars
Crisp light softens the out shouting colours
Temperance to dancing whispers
“Quiet now” says the Sun
“Other lovers are out shinning today”
Your eyes a sparkling flash of azure
Smiling so long and so deep
Happy has anchored itself
On your complicit lashes
And you are far too beautiful
For my heart to withstand
Such captivating mysteries of an Elfin legend
They say that Freyja was Queen of the North
The Gods had blessed her
With flaming hair
She was the desperate love
Of many a brave warrior
The sun licks her fire inflamed
And prances with breezes
Lifting your curls and locks in scattered incendiaries
Flows red with the blood heated in my veins
Would that I could see you now
Standing there naked
And bathed in your glory
My nymphet Queen
Sure that those shades
Are the boundaries of your purple Burgundies wings
Striking their flutter
On the bright surroundings of living green
But I must content myself
In the curves of your pale blue chiffon
Knowing that the Norse Queen is a little jealous
Of the Queen of the South
For a mother and a woman have left me so impressed
That loves ever pull egress
To your direction
Repeats in my soul
Its forgone conclusion
And there beneath an old grand oak
We sat and littered the picnic table
With all manner of fairy cakes
And sipped on the wine
The sweet wine of our life
In your sparkling laughter of this days happiness
You were more magnificent
Than any Elfin Princess
And anymore love my heart could contain
Would pour from my chest
And race giggling to the dizziest heights
Of sharp atmospheric crystal clear blue
Reaching out to the dominion of stars
To call out your name
To be sure
They would hear me
My love

The fiddler crab waves his giant claw
A rival crab has got him beat
Small clawed female watches in awe
The fiddler crab waves his giant claw
Small clawed female stiffles a haugh
Unimpressed watches his defeat
The fiddler crab waves his giant claw
A rival crab has got him beat

He reaches for his genie in a silver flask
"Oh Yeah...do me babeeee"- he laughs
His every wish is her every command
And he is her true and devoted man
She is so fluid and so golden brown
So smooth and so warm, going down
He's two sheets in the wind by early mid day
"That's how we do it, everyday" - he says
My rival is in that silver flask
Uhg... and who can compete with that? - I ask

The world is our rival
Jealous of our ways
Slowly corrupting the mind
Drawing out the suffering
With venomous tricks
Until we lie in the gutters of society
With wounds of doubt and self loathing
Severed pride spills lies
Hidden as truth
As we grasp for something real
We find only a gun
A single round stalks its chamber
And beckons to us
The temptation all too great
Without a second thought
The pain subsides
Replaced with emptiness
The world takes the lead again
Sheaths its poisoned blade
Looks back at the corpse-strewn track
And frowns in confusion
It wonders if it played a part
But shrugs, sympathizes
And continues on its path

You are my friend, my family, and my little sister
I never thought one day that I'll give your name a twister.
I remember when it was and how it had began
You'd shown me a drawing excitedly and I had tasted sand.
Asked me if it was good enough and what I thought of it
I thought it was done exquisitely and felt my eyebrows knit.
We had always been sketching, ever since I could remember
And yet I never once did think that you would become the better.
I did not know what the feeling was until a few days after
When you handed me another picture and the air rang with your laughter.
You were so happy and so proud, and I very pleased with you too
But somewhere deep inside unsatisfaction started to brew.
It was moments later when I declared a war
"From now on you are my rival, and I won't let you pass by far!"
But you only shook your head and said that I was weird
That kind of apathetic reaction was worse than I had feared.
Nonetheless I stood my ground, although sometimes it kills
Because you'd made me recognise your given artistic skills.

You bloomed earlier just to annoy me,
You started fighting even when I was kid,
Your words showered like pots and pans,
Albeit you are with me....
You smashed me like berries..
We do have war for every simple things,
You dare to touch my things,
Just to start wrestling match....
If you are north I am south- if you are
East then I am west...
We are opposite directions in characters...
If I am a bat you are a ball in the cricket match...
Every country can maintain peace,
But we just exist to create war in home...
If we have any candies or fries,
We will become real life Tom and Jerry..
Having gold or diamonds we never mind...
Having a TV remote is like ruling the world..
We are the best rivals...
We fail to give rest to mom and dad.
If I touch your things - Earthquake will happen...
If you touch mine - there may be volcanic eruption...
We blame each other just to confuse mom,
We curse each until clenching our teeth...
We are grown up, though we start fighting
for the biggest piece of sweets..
We do all things crazy to end up with fight...
Looking forward for the day of your wedlock,
Just to occupy your room..
Best rival but not my enemy...
Best warrior not for others, only for me...
If you cry, you will be the ugly duckling...
If dare to read this, I swear there will be no me tomorrow...
As a rival from my birth I wish you,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER!

I recall desiring dismal disaster
As tension tightened and negative neurons swarmed like hornets
Over honey not made by them
But by the very enemy
I do not believe my rival became what it was
Till I allowed him in
Willingly, and wittingly
Feeling foreign claws clamp around me
Scratching my untouched skin
To feel what it was like absorbed in that knowing grin
I had not thought it over how it would actually end…
Until it began

As I endlessly stare at her picture I cannot help but burn inside
with the strongest heat of envy,
And I find myself viewing her as my competition
this thought is only held in the darkest of mysteries.
Her complexion is that of brown sugar
and she has skin that appears flawless to perfection as well as soft to the touch,
She has eyes that are the deepest of mahogony that seems to just dance and
sparkle
and a one million dollar smile that dazzels with so much love.
Her hair that reminds me of the color of midnight is always styled just right
not one single strand is ever out of place,
Her breasts, hips, and thighs are proportioned just so as to make her such a
breath-taking sight
she walks with such ease and with such grace.
She has make-up, clothes, and shoes of the latest fashion
she could actually be a model for ESSENCE or EBONY magazines,
I admit, she has such a kind and warm desposition
and she has the ambition and determination in achieving her dreams.
As I place her picture inside of my photo album
a great relief comes rushing over me,
Why on earth am I viewing this stranger as my competition?
when in all actuality I am surrounded in just as much beauty.
A smile then comes to my face and my heart is light and free
the confidence is oozing from deep within and out,
I then thank God for blessing me with such radiant inner beauty
and it is that inner beauty that really counts.

Narrative
While floating in a tranquil way
Green and yellow ducklings had a lot to say
They swam up and down the stream
Living the dream
Showing formation as a family team
Until one day there was an interruption
Beaver, Inc. building corruption
“What is this?!”
Lead duck did hiss
“It’s a dam,”
Said construction fore beaver Dan
Who was contracted to create a traffic jam
“You are bothering the traveling flow
You know”
Replied the duck
About this idea by the beavers to make a buck
“It will be good
Made from sturdy timber wood
Guaranteed to stop over water running
While we beavers are sunning
Stop drop a half a buck
We wish you good luck”
One beaver gave an address
Explaining progress that was right now a mess
“What a beaver dam
Scam
Fifty cents is nearly a dollar,”
Those ducks were giving a holler
It was then it began
A Beaver State civil stand
If the orange and black
Are successful in the academic sporting attack
They will be able to purchase dam supplies
Twining around those ducking cries
On top of that there would be a silver contribution
Since this was a thoughtful solution
To allow the Beaver to enjoy a recreational bake
During the summer time break
But if the ducks take home a win
Those beavers will be contacting their next of kin
When the critters go to sun bathe
There will be no dam to stop the wave
Created by the ducks swimming thru
Staying cool
Getting ready to study real hard in school

God’s hell fire for weevil
Like his final for the Devil,
For the weevil is equally evil
To our rice never civil
And to its consumers a rival
Always some marvel
How it ends its travel
In the sealed bags it quarters
And the grain of rice it scatters!
I grant the weevil is insect
But why every grain dissect
And its wholesomeness affect?
Yes, not by a little real
The weevil cherishes cereal
But is it the wisdom of Daniel
And is it conceivably ideal
That holes it punctures in a nutrition
For consumers reserving malnutrition.

climbing on the umblical hill
ahead of the contours,
a denier
alters the chemistry of hate in negative space;
fauna of the earth springs black stones,
man made, on the glistening sex of
lotuses, a forgetfulness ensures
the conceptual withdrawl of the red bull;
hand in hand a sea walks towards the tender beach
to dazzle the hidden sun,
light was inside his body, but he was still
groping for the sleeping lips of a virgin,
into her broken promises; the debris throws up
the severed limbs to negate the will
to live, words must betray a step down, maintaing
a clueless trauma, there was fearlessness,
but no dignity, you have drawn a horizontal
line hugging the boundaries of truth
and lies, I recall buddha to smile in the
eyes of death

BROTHERLY RIVAL
Boldly, brothers battle for bragging rights
Nigeria and Ghana, neighbors in night
Gigantic egos clash, a game of might
Healthy rivalry, or so it's in sight.4
Music, movies, memorable moments;
These brothers bit-in on each other's boats.
Nimble Nigerians navigate noble norms,
Ghanaians gaze, green with envy's forms8
Raucous rivalry reigns, a roaring storm
Eager eagles eye each other's form
Naija ninjas, the Eagles, no dey carry last
Ghana grits greatly with games of the past.¹²
Bold brothers boast, banter and jest
Raucous rivalry rocks, a restless nest
Eager eagles engage, in endless test
Sibling supremacy, a serious quest¹6
Nigeria's nobles navigate noble deeds
Ghana's giants gaze, with gleaming needs
Rivalry rages, a roaring blaze
Eager eagles eye, each other's ways²°
Bold brothers battle, for brotherly pride
Raucous rivalry reigns, far and wide
Ghana/Nigeria eagerly engage in endless stride
For sibling supremacy, so serious to put aside.²4
