Fear the Addiction

Weed is my name
Causing depression is my game
I can turn a super model into a whore
A millionaire poor
A classy lady trash
Now smoke me till I'm ash

I ruin your bank accounts
Break up perfect families / causing missery and pain
I don't really care about the hurt you go through
I'm just here to use you and mentally destroy you
You once were beautiful...liked for your looks
But your no longer welcome...your reminded of a dirty crook
I can turn an average teen...into a needy feind
A single mother...into a broken lover

Break me up and smoke me
Enhaul me and love me
Never put me down and i'll never let you down
I'm a silent killer
A silent addicter
I'm called different names because I bring certain pains and play vicious games
I attack your lungs...and you still don't learn none

I can have you thinking I'm here to help you
Make you feel a way...Cocain-Crystal Meth- and Heroin can't
Smoke me...i'll kill you
Roll me... then sale me
I'm here to destroy your dreams
I'm here to ruin your relationships
I am a crime and can help you become a prisinor in your own mind
I love the wormth of lips rapped around my tip
As you enhaul a deadly spell
I'm mentally unstable and physically unable to be seen as a bad thing
Mentally I make you crave
Physically I make you misbehave

Now take a HIT
And become an ADDICT

Premium Member Snow White and the Seven Dorks

A magic mirror told the queen that Snow White was the fairest in the land!
This put Her Majesty in a terrible snit and to the woods she had her banned!
She hired a hit man to have Snow White slain but he'd have none of that!
He let her go and she trudged along a path and came upon this run-down flat.

She rapped upon the door and hearing no answer stealthily crept inside.
Snow White had never seen such clutter - such a mess she could not abide!
She grabbed a broom, mop and pail and began to swab and dust and sweep.
Weary from her labors she climbed the stairs, found a bed and fell asleep!

The unlikely denizens of the little shack worked in the local diamond mine.
'Twas a 'Grimm' looking lot wending their way home through towering pine.
Dopey the younger, Doc the intellectual, Bashful, he with the coy pose,
Drousy Sleepy, crabby Grumpy, pudgy Happy and Sneezy with finger to his nose!

The little munchkins arrived home to find this beautiful creature in their bed!
She awoke rubbing sleep from her eyes, stared in disbelief and nearly fled!
Eventually, Snow White became a mother figure to that chaotic, motley crew!
She tucked them in bed, cooked their grub and settled beefs when fisticuffs flew!

Each morn the dorks shouldered tools heading for the pit to earn their dough,
Singing a quaint song they made famous, "Hi ho! Hi ho! Its off to work we go!"
Mister Disney made this classic film in 1937 when I was but a mere child!
Even today in my dotage, watching it with my grandkids, I'm still beguiled!

Inspired By a High School Rapper

Year after year, young people inspire me.
The freshness of youth brings forth curiosity.
Diversity and personality scream, it seems –
Noisily, boisterously, playfully, hope knocks.
Each child has amazing talents to unlock.
Shy ones work in silence while some classmates tease.
Others squirm around on a whim and a breeze.
Did you guess? I am a substitute teacher.
I learn something new every day that I work.
I guess you might say it is a hidden perk.
I love my work and I love to learn from many.

There was one high school boy
A class leader who loved to rap –
Talking, laughing, rapping; class behavior zapped.
I saw impending disruption; So, I struck a deal.
My clever solution was a bit surreal.
When everyone finished their work, he could rap.
Work first, then fun was my motto; he took charge.
His group of "homies” got to work right away.
The classroom was silent that wonderful day.
So, just as I promised, ten minutes at the end,
He started a beat others joined from their seat.
Line upon line he rapped words with rhyme.
Then, point to a classmate who would rap in time.
It was so much fun to see faces aglow.
When he pointed to me, I used poetry.
From that day forward, when he was in my class,
He would ask me to write a class poem, alas.
They would give me a topic and a few key words.
The students worked first; then, my poem was heard.
They would listen to my poems line after line.
I can still see his face after all of these years.
The sparkle in his eyes untangled my fears.

Years later, I was bored out of my mind.
My hip disintegrated; I was confined.
What would I do? The answer, I could not find.
I remembered that boy and that he liked my work.
It was his and his classmates’ reactions –
They influenced me to take writing action.
I joined Poetry Soup; poetry became a love affair.
I met friends, studied forms and wrote anywhere.
Paper towels or notebook paper, it mattered not.
When away from my computer, I would jot.
That boy brought the beginning; self-confidence.
His cheery influence blessed me with lifetime joy.
They liked my poems; so, I wrote thousands more.
All of this because of one young boy who will never know,
It was his good-word raps that set my soul aglow.

Premium Member You

You lied there that night,
the pain you felt was so hard for me,
but a brave face was all you made
I was there, useless as always.
Your hand in mine, I felt so helpless.
I could feel your fear as the time wore on,
the doctor not helping at all.
Hours passed and the pain grew
but I was with you, not knowing what to do.
I could see you questioning yourself.
As if you felt unworthy.
I knew better, you were so strong,
but I wasn't.
Fifteen hours later
I could take no more
as the fear in you grew
and the doctor reached for you.

Can't you see somethings wrong!

They made me leave and took you.
I was so scared but you never knew.
I sat waiting for an eternity,
then out of the blue,
I heard a voice speaking to me.
The doctor came from the operating room.
He had something in his hand

as he walked slowly toward me

with concern on his face
I stood, numb, and looked in the dish he held.
He said the cord was rapped around her shoulder
and this, as he glanced at the dish,
is what caused the pain, but you were OK.
I felt weak as I listened to what he had to say.
but, you were OK was all I heard.
The nurse soon came, "It's a girl," she said
as I looked through the plastic case.
So, perfect and beautiful
she lay there calm serene,
perfect purple fingers and bright red hair.
She was you and my eyes filled as I looked at her,
at you, my beautiful
Babe.

Spirit Mountain

Serene Mountain’s so inviting
With clad stone cold faces peeking
Blue mirror pools so exciting
Quivering patches touch my skin
Leaning against a moaning wind
Rapped in a rapture of heavens grin

Once Upon a Christmas Dreaming

Once upon a Christmas dreaming
Alphabets of spelling sleep,
Coal and snow plumed shrouded wreaths,
Fantasia minds plunged ever teeming
                              Distant choral souls redeeming,
Silence weeping, starlight beaming,
Light years bursting solar sheaths.

Whatever lost craved warmth and finding,
Rang the bells and rapped the brass,
Crept a creep of holy stealth,
Midnight chimed, the clock unwinding,
                              Visual feasts of gospels blinding,
Shadows lifted, ever minding
Love bestowing priceless wealth.

In the veils of crystals falling
Carols gelled with latticed ice,
Knitted pearls of liquid frost,
The songs of Christmas past were calling,
                              Eerie, wistful caterwauling,
Heaven bent on reinstalling,
Beckoned home whatever lost.

Once upon a Christmas waking
To a world of perfect white,
Love and caring left the grave
And arms wrapped bodies live and shaking,
                              Purest beauty in the making,
Gifts for giving, gifts for taking,
And all we took was all we gave.

Candid and fully exposed as the theatre’s light dims
She stands poised, dauntless disciplined and statuesque
A stance both stalwart and defiant yet supple are her limbs
Mango hued flower, shoulder's thrown back thrusting her breast

He sits rapped by intrigue as he studies her movement
A silver fox and raven mane is neatly brushed regally back
To beautify him further would take divine improvement
Only to be bathed in her impassioned embrace does he lack

Swirls of sangria red fabric charge like El toro spark undulating trails
Laced in pearly white with azure blue print mesmerize and highlight
And flow about her generous hips in a rage of billowing canvas sails
Flamenco dancers firm legs are revealed in fish nets that boldly invite

Whilst her furtive glimpse ignites his cavalier bon vivant smile
She bewiles with onyx eyes that glisten and fingers splayed for effect
He connects in a flash with a performers come hither guile
Upon times eternal river this fiery night's tryst they shall reflect

Premium Member The Harlem Rose

You rapped half yourself around the world
With outrageous rhythm and rhyme
Did crime did time
Bound yourself in chains
Etched your name in fame
While your other half remained unclaimed
In a book of poetry
You wrote in quiet moments
4 no 1 else 2 c
Where now I find the depths
And gentle beauty of your soul
As every petal of your being
Now unchained unfolds
A Rose that grew from concrete
Now I breathe your fragant breath
A Man I never understood in life
Now I understand in death.

A tribute to: Tupac Shakur
Inspired by: His book of poetry, 'The Rose that Grew From Concrete'.

About Tupac:

Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), known by his stage names 2Pac (or simply Pac) and Makaveli, was an American rapper. Shakur has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.> In the United States alone he has sold 37.5 million records.

Tupac Shakur’s most intimate and honest thoughts were uncovered only after his death with The Rose That Grew From Concrete, a collection of deeply personal poetry handwritten by Tupac in his own private notebooks over the course of his life - a mirror into his enigmatic world and its many contradictions written from the time he was 19.

West Virginia

Wild rugged den of Hatfield and McCoy,
Entered the Union with birth pangs of war.
Sweet meadows punctuate inked river beds,
Trapped in mountains black wealth of coal.

Volunteers--first to send her sons to serve.
In hidden glens Bigfoot and Mothman roam.
Raging rivers white water rafters ride;
Green valleys house her ancient Celtic stock.
Indians roamed, leaving mystic burial mounds;
Night music choir of frog and whip-poor-will.
In forests treasure of ginseng and yellow root;
Apples--green golden fruit crisped in summer dews.

Mysterious mountain culture all her own,
Infused into her native citizens alone.

The Tower of Babel

Today I woke up and smiled with Africa
     I rapped with Nazizi
     I admired with Ali Kiba
     I adored with Fuse Odg
     I danced with Fally Ipupa
I remembered with Lucky Dube and Brenda Fassie

Today for lunch, I learnt some French
     I dreamed with Maitre Gims
I danced some more with Soprano
     I was amazed by Stromae
I was moved by Kendji Girac

And down I flowed on the Orinoco with Celtic Woman
I felt colorful with Sean Paul, Daddy Yankee, Gyptian and Enrique Iglesias
I read some quotes from Bob Marley
Latino beats, reggae beats, ragga dance hall!
And there went Pitbull featuring so, so, and so..

And higher I went, changing my dish
     Sia now we are talking
     Hey Hey Beyonce
     Damn Eminem

Oh my Psy. ..
Girl's generation, 2NE1 ......okay
Falling back into highschool
But awake enough not to forget to click the button
Wow that music India
I don't get it, but I love it

And I really truly wanted to stay awake
And travel the world some more, to the tunes unknown
But I had to sleep
For tomorrow is another adventure

When God confused the languages,
He knew through them we were more beautiful
He knew through them we reached higher

The big cat followed close behind my trail
It was dark and I had no light source
My true love lived over the swamp
Quicksand in places not known
Her house ahead was dark
I rapped and she smiled
Please marry me
I asked her
in dread

The Murder of the Mimes

With painted face and silent smiles they light the night so dim,
Oblivious to their stalker and his diabolic whim.
They'd come to sunny Florida to flee Maine's winter snow
And play their silent pantomimes on sidewalks as they go.

But the analyst has programs and experiments to run;
Methodic’ly he thus connects the silencer and gun.
Onlookers claim the analyst did murder them that night,
Then calmly pulled his pencil out, his test's results to write.

But as for wherefores and the whys, when asked of him a reason,
If these are not fair game, he cries, Why call this 'Tourist Season'?
His court appointed council does the best that he is able
To win the jury's pity for this client so unstable.

This man, his sobbing lawyer pleads, was brilliant as a child.
He never was a vicious lad, and next to most, quite mild.
Such things he pondered others wondered, if indeed they never spoke them,
As, to what hue those Smurfs, now blue, would turn, were one to choke them.

The lawyer then begins to quote behavior science stats
Of those who make their living pulling habits out of rats.
If in his heart a man resorts to rationalization
A wrong might seem a right when there's sufficient provocation.

As situations worsen and confusion grows with time;
Seems right, when with a silencer, one shoots a silent mime.
If innocent is how you find there's none 'twould you disparage,
For squelching this inquiring mind would be a grave miscarriage.

Those murders were experiments, not born of animosity;
Performed were they to satisfy a morbid curiosity.
Still the jury found him guilty and to ease his troubled brain,
Ordered soon a lethal potion be injected in his vein.

When asked before the gavel rapped for any final comment,
The killer scratched his head as if his muddled mind to foment.
Yes just one further question in this form of execution
do they disinfect the needle in a sterilized solution?

Christmas Day

Candles, chocolates and a bottle of chardonnay
Heralding the eve of Christmas day
Rollicking good fun is in the air
Icy outside but who gives a care
Surprises all gaily wrapped
To a song that someone's just rapped
Mistletoe hangs in the hall
And the clock ticks slowly on the wall
Santa Clause is coming to call

Dancing lights on the tree
A time of merriment for you and me
Young ones singing merrily.

Holiday Is Here

Holiday is here
Holiday is here
Now let little genius jump and express his felicity
As he feel the breeze outside boarding school blow merrily
Oh! How long was spent in that chrysalis?
Rapped up with books and walls of the classes
Plethora instructions and some castigations
Now currently evanescent, gone are rhythmic exhaustions
A gemic position, such innocent treasure like a crown laden with sapphires
And the result, oh the talisman with remarks that shields stern scold of Father's
Jump! Jump! Be idyllic
No more canes, bye to the bully
Now dream of Mother's dulcet songs and pets
(Dream of) the rhapsodic hugs, favorite foods and glee in the nest
(Dream of) the radiant flowers, fun with siblings and free Mondays
(Dream of) the lovely expectations and plays

Ten word challenge: A poem using the following words:
plethora, evanescent, felicity, rhapsodic, idyllic, dulcet, chrysalis, radiant, sapphire, and talisman.

Dread

Sleep denied, binding sheets
restrained hot, apprehensive form;
beneath the bed, dragons' tails rapped
red staccato on the rails,
those blaze colored beasts
restlessly groaned embered tones,
cauterizing thoughts on Fear's volcanic brand.

Heavy quiet, sinister,
stealthily slinking in the dark,
gathered like oppressive fog
about the midnight strike.
The knob chattered, teeth on edge,
a hammer blow of door
on wall before the fall of footsteps
stabbing down the hall.

Repulsive sound . . . belt undone,
colliding with the floor,
the hated, clutching heaviness of him
who roughly spoiled.
