Symbols like a feather
is important and meaningful
for the person who receives them

A white feather
I see a sign from the angels
from your loved ones in heaven

Like the souls of ours, meet on a wonderful day
A lonely feather floats freely,
like Voyager ... a man-made object

Not all meanings are meant to be clear at once
Patiently my friend, what you seek is in your heart
It's a lesson in everything

Angels are not imagination
There is much between heaven and earth
A true soulmate, but some people will never believe

Keep smiling and surely
the sun will shine through tomorrow
No language can express, it's all a part of a bigger plan

Premium Member A Lighthearted Peek At The Apocalyptic World Of Poetry Contests

This contest style’s description is one I’ve never heard
I’m unfamiliar with that particular word
An internet search comes up empty
However, others seem to have poems aplenty
My eyes are getting blurry a total collapse seems imminent
Quickly penning an entry appears to be the only way out of my predicament
My freshly emerged imposter’s syndrome is now on full display
As I throw words together to prayerfully send a piece on its way
Whoops, I don’t believe the lines above were exact rhymes
I wonder if I will get disqualified this time
I see it is quintessential to utilize the word “quintessential”
Unfortunately, that stretches me to also use a word like “nonextensile”
Argh! I just realized I’m not counting my meter
I promise I’m not purposefully being a cheater
Oh well, competitions are all in good fun,
even if they drive you a bit crazy
You just have to be creative, put in the work,
and not . . . something, something lazy

Premium Member Milton Creek, Sneak Peek

NOTE: To those who will soon be joining us in Milton Creek:
Please allow our Mayor to make the announcement. Thanks!

Lots of things are going on in the town of Milton Creek
now that the posse has returned after putting under arrest
the villain guilty of murder; but who pretended to be meek.
It's a lesson to those thinkin' of movin' to the wild West.

I've been hearing rumors that are spreadin' on the street
about a bunch of new townsfolks that are comin' this way...
to Milton Creek because it's been declared the county seat.
I'm sure they're all good people, Mayor Tom will have his say.

He don't take too kindly to those who barge their way in.
There's procedure to follow when runnin' a business here.
The town council will disapprove of sharks with a dorsal fin,
so, all citizens can live in peace, without the need of fear.

I bought what was a restaurant next door to the Aces Hotel.
It folded when many got sick from eating bad Mexican food.
Now, it's part of Milt's legacy, and I promised I'd never sell.
Dinner at Aces, dessert at the bakery, coffee: fresh brewed

Mayor Tom is off on a new adventure, but he'll be back soon
to announce the names of new residents coming to the Creek.
I'm sure he'll be calling a town meeting on the first afternoon.
For now, I thought I'd offer a glimpse, just a little sneak peek.

Just a Peek

Just a peek inside my window
there's a touch I let you be
a place with good intentions
come on in and set me free

You're the warmth upon my pillow
the mist held nearer my cheek
my moments brought in the ever after
you're the only angel that I seek

There's a candle on the mantel
burning bright so we can see
the other side of my moonlight
where your flickers dance for me

I Stole a Peek

I stole a peek inside your dream, a gentle
smile upon my face as my love had found
its place. Soft and warm my eyes did lie,
on every breath and every sigh. Candles
flickered and shadows danced, the night
was ours and well romanced. Pore on pore
as bodies yearned, desire surrendered as
passion burned. The scent of Rose fills the
air, with every kiss I show I care. With my
gentle hands I cup your chin, release the
fire deep within, whisper soft I love you
so, and meld with you in binding glow.

Premium Member Cat-And-Mouse Peek-A-Boo

Cat-and-mouse
  Gloves held high
Can't see you
  Peek-a-boo

Gloves held high
  Block every punch
Can't get through
  Peek-a-boo

Drop your guard
  One split second
BAM POW SMASH
  A knock-out beckons

It's cat-and-mouse
  Move those feet
Then my jaw
  ~ Your fists greet

Peek In Through My Window

Wet wings hold back the morning song
clouds cover what was meant to be a perfect day
a loose boulder rolls uphill after an earthquake
mountaintops screech it's time for tea
but I'm relegated to run away

Laying low in a one-act show
bundled in tinted eyes of baby blue
opening lost love letters never sent
spilt drops of honey in shades of red
encompass somber sounds of want

Peek in through my window
past a painted pain innocence took
sharp edges smothered in waves of honor
flapping up high in a hallowed field
waiting to be folded and brought back home

A Peek Into the Past

Passing trees with gauzy nests
Of caterpillars hanging down
Jars a memory that rests
Within the folds of brain cell town.

My dad and all the neighbor men,
With flaming torches, did attack
Those selfsame sacs so ne’er again
Would gypsy moths be coming back.

We children gathered ‘round to gape
As fiery clumps fell from the trees,
A happening which helped to shape
A reminiscence there to seize.

The dads, the dusk, the shadows cast,
The neighborhood community
Unlocks a peek into the past
To visit with impunity.

Peek Freans Fig Roll

Peek Freans Fig Roll

You make me laugh

You think that the evil humanity does

Has nothing to do with you

And your excuses

And your prayers

For salvation

Merely continue the blindness

Of your refusal

To take responsibility

For the actions of your world

You have a comfortable retreat

In the bible

And comfort in believing

In a saviour

And you refuse to see

That the saving of your neighbour

Is up to you

You make me laugh

With your bible quoted platitudes

With your simple minded

Ineptitudes

To take control of your conscience

Your fig leaf

And your Peek Freans fig roll of sweetness

Empty

And wrapped in so much easy buy

To fit your mouths desire for something sweet

You cannot connect

You are as empty as all those possessions

You place so much esteem upon

You are the worst case of human evolvement

And evolutions greatest impediment

You are slaves

Slaves to religion

And slaves to God

Sightless in your slavery

And slaves to a system

Of capitalism

You are a poor excuse

For the rationalism and rebellion

That was once

Your ancestors right

And their history

You are all

Nothing but

Slaves

Nothing more than superstitious cavemen

Trying to explain the dark

And afraid to stand up

And be counted with the stars ( as in suns )

Playing Peek a Boo {edit}

< coniferous tree
playing peek a boo .... shuffle

Premium Member Peek a Boo

Oh yes, I see you, the Doc let me peek
for so long you were blurred no more than a
little gray wiggly blob Daddy would say boo

to [as if you could hear him?] saying "boo".
Maybe you did hear because out you came a
bit early! Dad was there again to peek.

Sorry about the light being so bright, a
bit scary. You started boo hooing, boo,
but you were gorgeous, still, at first peek.

So, of course your first game was peek a boo!

A Peek Behind the Fence

Ignorance
is a crime
caused by
putting up fences

if we'd let go
of the voices inside our heads
and eliminate fears
discussions would arise

peel the blind folds
from our eyes
share real stories
told without disguise

encouraging progress
could be made
with concerns of what we've learned
rather than what we are paid

a fulfilling life
is people based
sharing
giving
looking out for others
one human at a time
despite our differences
the truly rich way of living

Take a Peek

Hello,
I'm here for the ad, young man
I believe it was your father I spoke to
on the phone about an hour ago
Said I was coming by to look at the car on sale
Sure, I'll wait ...
by the way, that's a lovely Christmas tree in the window
(A minute or two later)
Hi, Mr. Bartier,
I'm here for the car that I saw in the ad
You sure painted a nice picture,
truth be told, it almost sounded too good
So do you mind, if I may,
take a peek under the hood
Engine looks clean, motor sounds fine
It hums real low
(Speaking to myself ... that price is beginning to look like a steal)
This auto has a retiree feel,
do you mind if I get behind the wheel
Interior is like new,
and the gauges and gadgets all work too
And the mileage is less than the height
of a Mt. Everest view
Do a final spot check on the underbody,
no leaking fluids ... suspension seems solid
Well, Mr. Bartier,
here's what I think:
This car is as good as advertised,
the price is phenomenally low,
and your maintenance has the vehicle looking
like it just came from a new car expo
Only got one question though ...
it's about the trunk,
with the rug covering all those bullet holes
