Notes About The Poem

Milton Creek, Sneak Peek

NOTE: To those who will soon be joining us in Milton Creek:
Please allow our Mayor to make the announcement. Thanks!

Lots of things are going on in the town of Milton Creek
now that the posse has returned after putting under arrest
the villain guilty of murder; but who pretended to be meek.
It's a lesson to those thinkin' of movin' to the wild West.

I've been hearing rumors that are spreadin' on the street
about a bunch of new townsfolks that are comin' this way...
to Milton Creek because it's been declared the county seat.
I'm sure they're all good people, Mayor Tom will have his say.

He don't take too kindly to those who barge their way in.
There's procedure to follow when runnin' a business here.
The town council will disapprove of sharks with a dorsal fin,
so, all citizens can live in peace, without the need of fear.

I bought what was a restaurant next door to the Aces Hotel.
It folded when many got sick from eating bad Mexican food.
Now, it's part of Milt's legacy, and I promised I'd never sell.
Dinner at Aces, dessert at the bakery, coffee: fresh brewed

Mayor Tom is off on a new adventure, but he'll be back soon
to announce the names of new residents coming to the Creek.
I'm sure he'll be calling a town meeting on the first afternoon.
For now, I thought I'd offer a glimpse, just a little sneak peek.

Blimey, Lin… I can barely keep track of the current residents! Anyway, I understand Light Fingered Larry and Five Knives Freddy have been seen outside the bank… maybe they’re after a mortgage. Great appetiser, I’ll await further updates.

You like my appeteasers? Those two sound like low life varmints or I’ll eat my Stetson, Deputy Terry. I think it’s more than a mortgage they’re after. Better warn the sheriff. I’ll soup mail you a list after the Mayor makes things official.

Hi Mark. Thanks for your thoughts. It no longer matters, since it was closed down. That's history and I hope everyone will enjoy having a bakery in town. As soon as I know who you and Mayor Tom approve to run it, I'll create a menu to post. Happy Valentine's Day in your home. Hugs.

What a perfect mayor he's turned out to be, Jan. Taking time out of his holiday to tend to Milton Creek business. I'll bet he's even working on his speech (next saga) to let us know who our new neighbors will be. I know we're expanding, and adding a bakery will be a perfect addition. Happy Valentine's Day

Exciting times lie ahead for Milton Creek Lin, Will be in contact with Sheriff Koplins office to vet the applications for residency permits, as a one time offer we'll waive the $10.00 fee. A big fave from me. Tom

Happy Valentine's Day! Sorry for the delay in responding, Tom. I took most of the day off yesterday. It's generous of you to waive the permit fee. I'm certain many will apply, but your vetting process is necessary, and I'm certain you and Sheriff Koplin will be thorough in background checks. It's why Milton Creek is becoming a boom town of good people.
