When you think of your last days here on earth
Will you have relationship regrets before you depart
Estranged and alienated from loved ones or friends
Will you leave this world with a heavy heart

Reflecting back on the situation
Does it now seem insignificant and small
Do you wish it had never happened
The details can you even recall

Do you look back on the incident
Think of how silly it now seems
Was in blown out of proportion
Was it taken to extremes

Do you wish you could make it right
Make amends ,clear the slate
Could you still do that
Or is it too late

However, some falling-outs and fueds
Should never be resolved nor changed
The reason to huge or ugly
It is best to remain estranged

Are any of your estrangements resolvable
Do you feel you could be brave and take the chance
To reach out your hand in kindness
To offer an Olive Branch

Premium Member Olive Branch Extended

Jesus turned the other cheek
Now we extend the olive branch
During this special holiday season
Let us make peace
Open our hearts to those who have hurt us in the past
Can we live in Christ’s image?
Or will we decline to pass the peace pipe
Take this challenge
Tear down barriers that separate us
Unblock poets whose words left scars that need to heal
Add more dignity to Poetry Soup
Spread good will to all
As our Savior intended
While we celebrate His birthday
The branch is hanging…waiting for you to accept

An Olive Branch

When did we stop
  getting each other;

Did my grief
  and your grief

Mix into
  a thief

Who stole away
  in the night

Taking everything
  that was right

About you and me

The way we could
  see and feel

My mind says
  it was real.

Don't fail me
  with rejection
  again

Dejection
  like rain

Just one more
  one more
  sandwich

Make it ham,
For the picnic.

Specious logic, serpentine manoeuvres, designed to disorient heart and mind, with a view to securing a psychological advantage are seen through by centred presence, which yet humorously indulges the play underway awhile, that the adversary’s eventual sense of triumph be not mitigated by discordant rejoinders proposed by lower mind, having recognised that ephemeral waves of the ocean rise and subside in time as ordained, melding with the vastness.

Olive Branch

Anti-howling receives the
deserter. There was a mass
breast-beating without
any noise.

The pugnacious jaw
drops. Shows  a frail
sensitivity to tormented
values –

of invisible mirrors, shutting
down the wolf’s face. An
ancient spider jumps
on your bronzed ego.

A transsexual walks on
the ramp to defend her territory.
Cucumbers would jump to
conceive the obnoxious yawning.

His Last Olive Branch Went Up In Flames

                           he threw the last olive branch into the fire
                           watching with tears as the symbols, aflame
                         as the last embers of reconcile with her expire
                       into ashes of lost hope he knew he was to blame

                         he could love her till the day he dies, he does
                   but he knows the tree now is barren of olive branches
                  with her, as she sees into his sad eyes somebody else's
                breaking his heart to see her sidestep to another's dances

                       he cries at what he had and doesn't have now
                      like the wind, her, blowing into him, as the sea
                cascading waves, exploding into whitecaps that endow
             her, as she rides his back onto the sandy beach only to flee

                he sadly watched her become smaller in the distance
                  running, yet looking back at him, mocking his life
              yelling words of sadness to him ... of no other chances
         yet shaken he didn't want to believe he wanted her as his wife

                 his broken heart, on a slippery slope, now shrugs
           of lost nights with her, lost words, time, coffee and no hugs

Open a door but go slow,
listen I’ve been through enough;
Inviting yourself when you screwed up;
Victim of your inability to see
everything you did from the beginning;
Branches must be extended gently;
Revolving doors go nowhere fast
always on the tail of words
nothing substantial standing behind them;
Culled by a flimsy olive branch;
Here we go again.

An Olive Branch

Your mischievous gaze
your dark brown eyes, not as shiny as they should be
tell a very sad tale
straight from your heart

I offered you an
Olive branch...

Being with your broken
soul, whilst trying
to repair my own
was just hurting us more

Premium Member Olive Branch in One Hand

    olive branch in one hand
       weapon in the other
    hoping for peace with his brother

    eager to open his heart
       stepping with caution
    lest a new war he start

    ancestors who precede him
       sons who succeed him

    raised midst outbursts of fire
       triggered by scoundrels and liars...

    visions nightly torment his wife
       ~ grasp tight the olive branch of life
