Olive Branch Extended

Jesus turned the other cheek
Now we extend the olive branch
During this special holiday season
Let us make peace
Open our hearts to those who have hurt us in the past
Can we live in Christ’s image?
Or will we decline to pass the peace pipe
Take this challenge
Tear down barriers that separate us
Unblock poets whose words left scars that need to heal
Add more dignity to Poetry Soup
Spread good will to all
As our Savior intended
While we celebrate His birthday
The branch is hanging…waiting for you to accept

This is a lovely poem - obviously some ignored the olive branch, though... Yes, I love Plato's account of Atlantis. I'm convinced it existed. Looking forward to you posting Daniel's beautiful poem. Hope it wins : )

I see so many congratulations below. You must have won in Audrey's contest. I congratulate you also. This is a contest that took place before I got here. I played a Q-bert machine for eight hours on one quarter and accumulated over four million points before I handed the game over to someone else.

Your poem speaks so from the heart, Carolyn. Of good intent, of the humble wish to heal, of peace extended and a challenge of acceptance. Beautifully said. I wish you all the best, both in the contest, and also in the heartfelt wish of this poem. Love, Deb
