Premium Member The Daddy

In the rundown little house where her family currently lives,
the fourteen-year old glances obediently at her glaring daddy,
nodding her head in quiet compliance
to his usual horrible demands of her for the evening.
Not to acquiesce would incur his utter wrath,
and that is something she has learned well by now to avoid.

Things are not like the old days, when she was twelve,
feeling so lost, and he would lavish her with little gifts:
bracelets with charms, cute purses, chocolate candies. . .
With warm aqua eyes, he’d smile his approval
as she whirled around the room, modeling a pretty dress for him.
In those days when her world had fallen apart, he’d taken her in.
His voice would softly soothe her then, chasing away her every fear.

Back to reality. Daddy’s voice now is laced with menace.
And his eyes are ice blue marbles staring through her.
“Do what wifey says,” he instructs her at the door
as she leaves with four other sisters and the one of legal age, her sister-wifey.
Leaning in to her, his breath like chill wind on her nape, he whispers,
“And you better be VERY good with your dates this time.”
The young girl, in high heels, slit skirt, and heavy makeup, has exited the door
when her daddy barks commands to his helper in the living room, and then
Daddy exits too, but through the garage, where a Mercedes Benz is parked.

He drives alone, a short trip across town to his other house -
the one with manicured lawn and garden and a large pool out back -
the large beautiful house where a real wife and a real daughter
await him.
 “How was your day?” his beautiful young wife gushes
as he crosses the threshold in his expensive business suit.
“Oh, just another day at the office,” he quips,
leaning in to give her a soft kiss. Then his young daughter
comes bounding down the stairs, broadly grinning.
“Daddy, look at the new dress you bought me!”
She twirls with adolescent glee.

The man, with blue eyes dancing, looks his fourteen-year-old daughter
up and down. “Sweetie, you know I don’t like you wearing lipstick yet.”
“Oh, Daddy,” she teases, “I’ll be dating soon.”
“Afraid not,” he lovingly chides her. “Those boys will just have to wait
at least for two more years. For now, you are Daddy's little girl."

Haunting Memories

Haunting Memories
                         The Safety Zone

    It feels like I have wind chimes in my feet
        The tingling feeling is that intense
            Pins and needles keep pestering me
                But obedience is my best defense

                    Every single step is a painful memory
                        Of the childhood I never got to see
                            Walking on glass eggshells metaphorically
                                Watching my feet continually bleed

                                Too young to understand what was happening
                            So obediently I tried to be brave
                        Every night I had to cry myself to sleep
                    I hadn't even lived yet but wished for my grave

                Punishment handed out like it was an offering
            Like my pain was some sort of sadistic prize
        Hiding away in the backyard that covered me
    Holding my breath and closing my eyes

The eternal buzz of city anglers
brash, angry, hornets ever selling egos.
Shrieking anxiety laced, analog, syllables, idiotically.
Hoping against hope, urchins, desperations end,
strumming ancient chords in vain efforts,
praying evermore for ordained kindness's eye.
Telltale ubiquitous blighter's energetically begging on.
How on heaven's earth can anyone
begrudge absolution, hand out shackles instead.
The august city in full ultraviolet,
never ever satiated, each mouth open.
Raw as meat, uncooked, questionable, objectionable,
waiting on the angler's hook obediently.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Succumb To My Heart

Composed through flickers of ambient light
vanilla wafts permeate solemn halls this night
as life into her passionate pen breathes
talking in code and longing to be

Verdant valleys and flowing waterfalls
mist simple eyes as words echo her call
darkness drips out from the deep black
easing anguished uncertainties held intact

Freeing feelings and setting off subtle swells
releasing evocative imagery from their cells
cravings of brittle bones obediently seek out
to be heard along side her choreographed shout

Succumb slowly dear to my heart in glowing red
Where futures shall lie and pure souls are bled

Galactic Love

Our love eternal an enduring infernal
Thru galactic mist it shall always exist
Our love undying magically mystifying
How can I resist since you I’ve kissed

Our love forever an endless endeavor
Thru celestial skies our spirit never dies
Our love in hell a fragile empty eggshell
They will chastise within lamenting lies

Our love reborn I shall obediently adorn
Your ever presence a potent pleasance
Our love Galactic with clusters climactic
A floral fluorescence a lust luminescence.

“Slay me a dragon,” a maiden requested
“ I will, I will!” he said.
And he did, and the maiden was
 Appropriately appreciative.

And time went by….

This time the maiden asked for
diamonds and pearls.
He thought for a moment,
remembering  her charms.
“ I will find you a treasure”
he said..and he did.
But the maiden was tired and only
had time for a quick kiss
And thank you…

And more time went by….

No longer a maiden, her luster fading
.she begged him to “ take out the trash”.
He did, grudgingly, asking for his just
reward.”please, dragon steak for dinner”
and she obediently complied.

And time went by….

One day he found himself under the apple tree,
kissing the baker’s beautiful daughter.
“Slay me a dragon,” she asked… “ I will, I will,” he said.

And so it goes…

Premium Member Following One's Destiny

Against life, one should never revolt

But

Obediently he ought to follow her wise lead to

Wherever she decides him to take

For

Life knows better one’s nature and the laws

That govern it

Thus

One has to become as complied as the waters of the river

That

Follow the river’s banks all the way to the

Estuary,

Never trying to hinder the waters’ flow but

To hasten it

For

It is the only way, one, could his destination sooner than

Later reach

And

His destiny's goal to realize!

Love At First Bite

Love at first bite

Lustfully he grins, devotedly she stares,
A scene awfully to familiar in the showbiz of life.
Starring, a veteran actor and naïve lass with a body full of strife.
Yes, her body is rebellious but her apparent eyes leave her soul bare.

Her body could make no false decisions as it moves seductively.
Decisions that attract both timid and masculine spectators,
Lurking in the shadows, tamely veiled like domestic predators,
Bearing intentions set out objectively.

Before she could put her guards up, she`s knocked off her feet,
Obediently invaded by thorn stem roses,
With sweet scented poses.
It was the making of a perfect scene, a flawless hit.

The camera stopped rolling; the lead actor was no more.
There were no goodbyes, only a residue remained when he left.
She searched the vacant chambers of her heart, she`d been a victim of theft.
Suddenly her limbs were rhythm-less, she was engulfed by the floor.

What she savoured was the bitter fruit of spite,
Contracted, from love at first bite.

Premium Member The Flautist

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE FLAUTIST  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 THE FLAUTIST fluently flaunted her flute- Music flew faultlessly through the airwaves, flying fluidly above the noise of the blustering city
THE flautist created a calm fragrance, who's flavor of creativity fell-well onto your soul creating a soul stirring calmness across the city.
She played her flute clean into the night vehemently, over the feverish chaos –
And the people in the park and in the city could hear clearly as they walked in rhythmic tunes/ She flaunted her music like sweet low hanging fruit, Her music dangled beautiful and singly. She alone, Solo-ed notes of delightful serenity-
  The flautist moved the masses to a state of bliss; Like free kisses flying in the wind landing on ears conquering and engaging spirits, conquering pandemonium with her flute, she blew her flute... SHE BLEW HER FLUTE, and we marched and listened obediently. She blew her flute and we marched magnificently to her concert.
Improvements
The wilderness has been improved of late,
Or so they say.
The maple trees where sticky syrup oozed
Between the cracks of scarred and broken bark,
The wild apple trees whose crooked branches
Cradled clumps of crudely woven twigs,
Have been replaced by houses, row on row
Of painted boxes gleaming in the naked sun.
The narrow trail, a divine doodle
Traced across the earth and kept in place
By centuries of coyote and bear
And deer that bounded zigzag up the slope
Lies tame and straight beneath the asphalt sweep
That cuts a leveled swath across the peak.
The blackberry briars that pressed against the path
And tore the skin from little hands that wiped
the purple stain on Sunday clothes,
Are cut away, and soft green grass grows in their place.
“Superior development, and more to come,”
The realtor explains,
Not knowing that I was here before.
I scan the hills for one certain house,
An Improvement on a three-room shack
where squirrels chattered in the rafters
And wasps built nests against the eaves,
And berry bushes dirtied up the window panes.
The modern house is pink with snowy trim;
A cement sidewalk leads from drive to door,
And tulips nod obediently by the steps.
Beyond the manicured lawn,
The last undeveloped forest hugs the hill,
And stubborn briars spill onto the planted grass.
“I’ll buy the house,” I tell the man.
He sees me looking at the woods and smiles
Apologetically. “For a slightly higher fee,”
he says, “that bit of forest can be cleared.”
“I’ll take it as it is,” I tell him.
“The blackberries might still grown in there.”
“But by the grace of God I am what I am…” 1Corinthians 15:10 of the King James Bible
Let me tell you a story…
It is neither fiction nor fantasy
since the main character is yours truly…
Anchored upon scriptural theology
my narrative highlights the Creator’s glory
against pride of carnal hypocrisy…
This is the chronicle of ministerial journey
commencing from momentous encounter at Calvary
when Jesus Christ set me free graciously
against sin’s grievous penalty by His love and mercy…
I was a freshman in our country’s premier university
and the Lord intervened, setting me toward what’s heavenly
though struggling, my spirit heeded to His call obediently
toward divine trek of precious, priceless legacy:
Gospel-sharing and teaching children Bible stories joyously…
With God’s compass directing along wondrous serenity
my spiritual adventure progressed meaningfully
as biblical stewardship reigned over my humanistic philosophy---
thus, enabled to choose what matters most vis-a-vis immortality
I left my prestigious college teaching job for full-time ministry
trusting the Saviour as my Master Who knows best for me…
Midst mission trips, reaching-out travels and volunteer tasks’ array
participating in kingdom-advancement, empowered through prayer-fervency
I am nurtured, nourished for life-building and care-giving simultaneously
allowing me to bloom in discipleship pursuits by His wisdom’s sufficiency
as an orphanage Mom,  a learning center Ma’am, serving gladly
a values coach to police lady officers, giving counsel to live righteously
a writer of church newsletter, publishing goodness of the Almighty…
Now, I am still continuing with my journey, blest bountifully
sailing with the Captain of the sea safely
overcoming, by His compassion, doubt and uncertainty
soaring along faith’s flight majestically
vanquishing fear, misery and anxiety
hiking atop supplication-retreat mountains steadfastly
walking with my best Friend around intimate fellowship sweetly
ready for jubilant face-to-face triumphant worship throughout eternity.
FATE
Conceived was I in the vastness of infinite
Time,
Developed in the womb of never dying
Cosmos,
Born under the watchful eyes of the vault
Of heavens,
Breast-fed by destiny’s inescapable
Commands
And
Nurtured by the laws of unyielding
Providence,
Thus
The unswerving path of fate, now, obediently to
Follow I have!
Gettting Rid of the Festiva
A Haibun
I tell you no one wanted that car. We kept it parked in the driveway for years while we made payments on Saturns and bought Subarus and Hondas and tried to ignore it. Meanwhile, I would drive it once a week to Trader Joe's or the Beaverton Library.
driver's door opens
chains pulled across pipes
runs great, good mileage
 I tried to donate it (only had about 102,000 miles). I called all the charities that take old cars (United Way, Cancer Research, even Kars4Kids) but upon hearing it was a 1989 Ford Festiva with a key jammed in the ignition refused to consider it.
 I finally had to call a junk dealer who offered us a $100, and who came with a big smile and a ruddy, little Pomeranian
 that waited obediently to one side while he hoisted the car up on his wrecker.
 The dog yapped all the while but seemed happy. She made me smile, and my heart bubbled a little.
just as Samantha
began licking my fingers
five 20's changed hands
Spaghetti Grandma
Spaghetti Grandma
She scratches her pulpy ruby nose,
Heaves, and leans her heavy bosom
On the pitchfork, dangerously bending
The prongs over the swollen tomatoes.
Trying not to stare at the weary body
Enlarged like a blimp, obediently,
The child’s eyes avert the navy blue smock
Resting on her grey-green eye, the only
window she has left on the world.
She readjusts her horn-rimmed glass
On her nose,
Briskly slips a big copper coin
Into my pocket,
And in a spicy voice
Accented with the fragrance of another sun,
She speaks of another time and place
Magically spinning tale after tale
And my mind is agog and reeling with delight
Filling with the words she feeds me.
