Best My Way Poems
I Did It My Way
I did it my way, not for the applause but because,
failure was not an option and I became a rebel with a cause.
I wanted higher education and was told I couldn’t have it all,
so I had to prove them wrong even if I had to creep or crawl.
I was accused of having a stubborn streak,
just because I wasn’t mild and meek.
Challenging every obstacle placed in my way,
and all the negative things that people had to say.
In spite of all the “You can’t do that,” that I was told,
I stubbornly did it my way and confidently smashed the mold.
Marching to a different drummer and dancing to my own tunes,
I kept my eyes on the prize ignoring all the nay-saying buffoons.
To keep on track, I learned to juggle tasks knowing I wouldn’t be derailed.
To keep my ducks in a row, I learned to haggle knowing I wouldn’t fail.
With dedication and hard work, as sure as night follows day,
success was mine because I certainly did it my way!

And now as I hold her near
I turn and draw the bedroom curtain
She made what she wants so clear
She's going to get it tonight for certain
I'm to be a raging bull
and ravish her not in a shy way
I'm to drive her into the erotic abyss
By doing it my way
Regrets, There have been so few
but the chocolate sauce I'd better mention
You were supposed to lick not chew
That's why I'm full of apprehension
but what a night on the golf course
and the hard shoulder of the highway
After just one romantic kiss
We did it my way .
Yes there were times I'm sure you knew
When I needed a minute or two
but you didn't have to pout
Like a sour faced old trout
because I was soon standing straight and tall
and did it my way .
We've loved , we've laughed and cried
My rigidity I was losing
With passing years stamina subsides
and you find that so amusing
Is that it ? I hear you say
In your own demanding way
Oh no , Oh no ''cos after a cup of tea''
We'll do it my way .
For what is a man , What has he got
If he can't do it twice on the trot
Wear your dress whenever he feels
Practice wearing your high heels
The record shows I love sucking toes
and I did it my way .

Verse
I stand by the water, a bottle in my hand.
The spirits help me face another day.
Think about my wife and kids and do not understand,
How I walked out and threw it all away.
Look out on still waters, tears fall from my eyes.
Drifting through the promises I made.
Promises that float away on dark and clouded skies.
When the wind whispers, the devil must be paid.
But now and then there's laughter in my memories.
Little voices shouting, daddy I love you.
Tears that fall for happy, prayers on bended knees.
Life flowed like a river, dreams did come true.
CHORUS
Lord, help me get back on the road to happiness.
Safe into adoring arms and loving sweet caress.
I need you Lord to guide me, You're my only friend.
Help me Lord, please help me, find my way back home again.
I can't remember when, it started to go wrong.
But, somehow I just lost the will to live.
The shadows and the darkness summoned me to come along.
And gave me life with nothing left to give.
I'm walking on a tightrope, my heart is on the brink.
My strength is gone, there's nowhere left to fall.
The bottle gives me nothing but the need for one more drink.
God I pray that you can hear me call.
Cause now and then there's laughter in my memories.

Lyric
blind minions do not hear
deaf disciples cannot see
callous subzero frozen feelings
breed gibberish jarring jubilee
this bloody blind-eyed messiah
rode to town astride an ass
belching barking oratory
for an aimless lower class
a starry-eyed astrologer
alchemist extraordinaire
summoned shrouded quatrains
revealing he baffles with a flare
loitering lotus-eater
puppeteer par excellence
self-indulgent Machiavellian
pitched fabricated arrogance
adroit and ambidextrous
he summons the mercurial mass
conjuring decrees and fairytales
dictating his rules pass
lose not a bloodied hammered head
resign yourself to a running retreat
le guillotine administers
swift sweet and replete
no man speaks of that not heard
or sees that left not read
bony fingers point with indigestion
reflecting in fractured mirrors

'Twas a dark and stormy night on that dark and stormy night!
HMS Blunderbuss plied the billowing seas just off the Isle of Wight!
Able Seaman Steer manned the helm when dead ahead he saw the light!
He woke the snoozing Officer of the Deck to apprise him of their plight!
Captain Ironbottom (who happened to be in the 'head') was duly alerted!
He dashed to the bridge in his drawers to ensure that disaster was averted!
"By jove!" he cried, "Her Majesty's ships turn aside for no one, I say!"
He grabbed the radio, "Ahoy there! Turn east 15 degrees! Out of my way!"
From out of the ozone a voice retorted, "Suggest you turn west 15 degrees!
I'll not change course for anyone, so heed my warning if you please!"
"This is Captain Ironbottom of the HMS Blunderbuss!" he thundered back!
"I know the rules of the road! Turn now or I'll see you hung from the rack!"
Able Seaman Steers' eyes grew as large as saucers knowing not what to do!
Communication between the captain and the mysterious light was turning blue!
As the distance narrowed between them, neither would give a nautical mile!
The white-knuckled Officer of the Deck was turning pale with a sickly smile!
"This is Captain Ironbottom again! Are you challenging Her Majesty's might?"
"Yes sir" was the reply, "You see, this is the light house on the Isle of Wight!"
Today the mighty HMS Blunderbuss rusts upon the Isle of Wight's rocky shoal.
Captain Ironbottom faded into oblivion due to the folly of his last patrol!

You stabbed me in
the back
Took that knife and
did a hack
You could not look
me in the face
My lady you are a
total disgrace
How deep did you dig
that grave
My how those words
became so brave
The hole just became
so deep
All came crashing
at your feet
The knife it twist
and turned
Even your fingers
got burned
You were so callous
and cruel
Our relationship
became a duel
I walked out and
never looked back
This job became
heavy like a sack
I pulled the knife
and refused to bleed
I walked out, did it
my way, yes indeed

I can’t although I try
to go it all alone
I wish to feel God’s pleasure
but my heart feels like a stone
Jesus patiently waits for me
He doesn’t beg me for my time
I misuse the days God gives me
believing that they are mine
All my moments yes are numbered
one day I will come to my last
Everything I want so badly
will be left in the distant past!
When I stand then before You Father
at Your throne I will confess
“I Knew You offered me more
yet I chose a path with less.”
So before my breath is taken
I relinquish my free choice
My own way is self deception
Now I’ll listen to You’re Son’s voice
For my path You have chosen
narrow and traveled by to few
It leads me to You Father
Your Bible verses they are true
Wisdom will be my chariot
lovely Hope will be my guide
Faith and Love true companions
but left behind will be my Pride!

Darkness is killing my will to fight
The way to climb beyond my scope
Searching for a ray of light
In an oasis called hope
Feel like a stranger in my house
Drying inward from the edge
Climbing like a spider
Got stuck in my own web
The clouds in the sky
Add to my tears
The balloons in my hand
Do not bring me cheers
Nothing to push me down from here
I can only jump without fear
I break the balloons, I dare the rain
I splash in my web full of my tears
Here I come, you can push me away
I will find my way to dodge you away
Not everytime can I go astray
A day will come I will find my way

Lord, he tried to take me
But, you held on tight
I was lost and defeated
But, I still knew wrong from right
I knew what you asked of me
But, I had to do it my way
I ignored your silent whisper
But, the consequences, I had to pay
I was given talent to work with
But, I wasted it on sin
I knew what you were asking
But, I failed time and time again
I believed in you strongly
But, I had something called, pride
I thought it was bring me closer
But, from you it made me hide
I thought I was intelligent
But, wisdom, I had none
I was fleeing from integrity
But, I thought that I'd won
You gave me everything I needed
But, I may as well been blind
I was doing it my way
But, I was leaving you behind
My Lord, you were faithful
But, you gave me my space
It was a time of discovery
But, you put me in my place
My way, was not yours
But, you let me figure it out
I paid for my disobedience
But, now I can finally shout!
The "enemy", can't have me
But, to my Lord, I give it all
I know I did it my way
But, now, I answer His call

Love, you have given me nothing but pain,
Heartache, sleepless nights and loneliness,
Why do you make me suffer so?
My days are dour and nights grim,
I cannot breathe easy;
Did I do you wrong?
Tell me but once,
Oh, why me?
I ask,
Why?
I,
who have
loved you so,
I want nothing
of this world's riches
But to love and be loved,
Song on my lips and blue sky,
And I have hope and faith in love,
I am not ready to turn my back
For I know love will come my way again!

They used to come only at night,
And hide way up under the bed,
Tucking their feet clear out of sight,
Ready to angrily pinch my pinky toes red,
D A D D Y! I’d holler, and scream.
M O M M Y! I would cry and yell.
S I S S Y! I’d shriek in my dream,
Heartbeat knowing I was about to be killed,
My own child picked up on this gloom
The first time he stayed in grandma’s house.
M O M M Y ! D A D D Y! He yelled, in full scared bloom.
I ran in, heart beating fast, expecting to see a little gray mouse.
What is it, Son? I asked my train-covered pajama wearing little man.
It’s the monsters he whispered, his amber and brown eyes as big as my head.
I nodded. “They’ll get you too, if you fall and land.”
So you’d better lay down right now, and stay in that bed.

There comes a day
When our time on earth takes us away
Everything in rewind
Running through your mind
It's all on display
In the most wonderful way
It all seems to unwind
Like a movie that you can see
If you were blind
No time to ask why
As hard as we try
Our time on earth has passed us by
Everything extreme turned up on high
I'm going to miss you all as it's my turn to fly
Please do not cry for me
My time is here
The time most of us fear
When our time is near
Time on earth is so dear
It all plays out like a big premiere
I love you all very much
Think of me often that way we stay in touch
Know that we all must die
At this point, I'm not asking myself why
My heart is weak
And soon I will cease to speak
When my soul will be released
To be able to fly into the sky
Where I can shine on high
As each new day passes us by
Remember we learn to laugh and cry
Without asking each other why
Someday we will reunite
When your flight comes into sight
Know everything between us set right
I'm tired of this fight
My life with God will be so bright
For a piece of all of you, I take with me
Now that my soul has been set free
Don't worry God is right beside me
Now I have to let things be
Keep all your wonderful memories of you and me
Because our friendship was always meant to be

For if my love did come to stay,
In shadows across an empty sky,
I would then light up the way,
So she could land nearby.
Have faith must I in my wishing well,
And flood it with coins every sunny day,
And hope shall I in a magical spell,
Upon shores one day we both shall lay.
An ocean then may bring us in,
As seagulls fly above our rest,
We'll find our peace, we shall begin,
And watch the sunset in the west.

Painting in my art studio is a relief to me
My breathing changes the minute I sit in my chair.
Facing a field of snow-covered woods, my body calms down
Tenseness I did not consider all day is released into the vapor.
Stress and anxiety ease out of my cement spinal column
The perpetual neck ache I had not noticed is instantly gone
Meditative state gently picks me up,
embraces and loves me I reach for a canvas and
begin my artistic heart dance.
Color begins throwing herself into my essence
Choose me!
Pick me!
I smile.
I do have my favorites.
The begging does not hurry me,
I am centered.
I take my time,
surrounded by a natural blissful calmness.
My adoring angels and fantastical faeries visit me here.
They know I am vulnerable, and at my most receptive.
All frenzy, stress, and pain has dissipated.
I am my me-self here, crazy happy, lapping up their inspiration,
Feeling loved.

Free verse
"Follow a different path"
"Walk down a new road"
You do the math
I don't do what I'm told
I'm done following
Anyway highway or street
I am done wallowing
I'm over the grief
Don't tell me go a different way
I won't follow blindly once again
I'll find my on words to say
I'm getting a life worth livin'
Sometimes, you have to take the reins, and be in control of your own life, don't follow an old path, pave a new
one.
