Pink skies top off the dark mountain range
I wonder about wandering all the way there
Just to discover a few things, I’d like to know
Feel the freedom of my footsteps in the snow
As if the distance has the answers and…
Steps to take me closer will help me understand
So much more than I can from sitting on this land
The pink skies turn to lavender, as night approaches
With limited time to see, so I imagine and I will dream
What it will be like at the distant range that knows
As it fades into darkness and the ground of white glows

Thunder clouds roll back, rain does succomb
shepheards emerge their flock
sunrays, brightens the horizon
mountain range, as far as the eye can see
The far distance , a sand block castle
the fore ground a humble village
goats lapping the bulging lake
sparrows emerging with song thrush
As children run playfully from their home
pointing to the sky, rainbow a picture
two lovers take to the lake, she seated
he stood, poll rowing.

on the other side of a twenty-seven mile wide mountain range
is a place to go where no cars and cycles buzz behind me
where the dusk heated sun does not touch my back
and polluted air does not burn my eyes
where the Pacific Ocean whooshes in my ears…
i can get there by dawn and sit on the beach
smell the salty air as the sun rises from mighty waves
stroll in water shoes across sharp pebbles
dash into a cool frothy force crashing upon me
there, over this mountainous Taiwan backbone
i could stay drenched in plum wine all day
women amused with my Mandarin mouth
women amusing me with their English tongues
i could do this
with karaoke nights singing to my fancy
but would i forget my wife at home
looking like something is wrong
i look to the peaks of green mountains
follow their curves through lush valleys
twenty-seven miles of tiny winding roads
upward, over, around, and down to the shoreline
with indistinguishable places to rest
and weeks if i wish to stay
with an iPod of twenty-five thousand songs
in a cold car with cool sound system
it could be years
if i do not miss home
up and around bends with streams and waterfalls
adventuresome companions and sweethearts
and my favorite noodles
awesome mountain range
welcomes my grand homecoming

The cold wind of the Antarctic
Cut any warmth from the sun
We have come to measure the world warming
That has been melting the ice away
A satellite had mapped the whole of the continent
And had found something strange in the Trans-Antarctic Mountains
So an expedition was put together from the Mawson Station
I volunteered to be part of the expedition crew
We had flown to the mountains by a Hercules transport plane
And loaded our snow tractors high with provisions
So we set off in our two snow tractors
As the morning sky was lit by a low lying sun
As we neared the Trans-antarctic Mountain
We could see the snow was melting away from everything
Curiously there were stone structures revealing themselves
These were odd shaped buildings not modern in nature
So we drew lots to see who would go
To explore the stone structures we found
And I drew one of the winners
So I prepared wondering what was in store
We drove to one of the stone buildings
And approached what looked like an entrance
We walked through into what looked like a laboratory perfectly preserved
There were alien looking contraptions everywhere
We decided not to touch anything until we could have it studied
I noted that there appeared to be some things missing
We videotaped all we could see in the room
And left it all as we as had found it
On the way out I noticed some footprints in the snow
These footprints led to snow tractor tracks
We quickly radioed base and a drone to seek out the other snow tractor was sent up
We quickly returned to our base
The drone found the snow tractor after following the tracks
As the camera focused in on the the cabin
We saw that the crew was Chinese and they were armed
And they were heading for an Xi'an Y-20 aeroplane parked in the snow
They stopped at the plane and they stepped out
Then taking a heavy box out of the tractor
The box was quickly loaded on the plane and the tractor as well
In no time the plane took off and flew away
We reported this incident to Canberra
It was about six months after what was the Antarctic Incident
When reports started to come out of Wuhan in China
Of a new disease that started to spread and kill
I wondered what they had found in the Trans-antarctic Mountain Range.

Face of the Flatirons mountain range
Awakens
To the pre-dawn of the Colorado sun
A charcoal sketch
Scribbled to life from a meadow of pale paper
I wade waist-high in the waving grasslands
A whale watcher
There! There!
Gray humpbacks
Arched and
Breaking the blue surf of clouds and sky
The breach
A union of silence
Between Soul and God
I on the outside
The universe within
I was the mystery
Riding the mountain.
Closest passions cries
Amongst torrent eyes
Storms seeks to behold
Wetting rains of mountains range
