SEA OF FRAMES
Believe in difficult things,
stretched around a frame,
one thread at a time,
faithfully day by day.
Some seem monotonous
in naked tones of gray,
or simple flecks of blue.
In hope and faith,
in abiding love
we let the Master
craft us into His masterpiece.
If we’d dare open our eyes
we’d see the sea
of frames big and small,
ships that sail
all around us.
We feel the stress, pulled tight,
feel each needle stab,
but the monogamous nature
of the threadiness —
a breathless bride
for the King of kings.

Inspired by the Bridal painting of the Empress Elisabeth of the 19th century Austro-Hungarian Empire -
Elegance, strength as elegance,
elegance of spirit personified as if this extraordinary elegance
was born to be, beyond the devestation of mortals,
so far outside the boundries of the base & banal ravishings
prevelant within peoples' passions and purposes,
escaping expectations of equality,
graciousness was alive within her
like a landscape loved & leavened by a monogamous moonlight,
ebony overcome by the invigoration of ivory,
realising that genuine grace is a monument
of courage confronting chaos, crystallised composure,
she being a template and temple for hopefuls,
in all my experience I have witnessed no woman more ready for power,
more savoring for sacrafice, more able to abate avarice & acrimony,
Elisabeth, the emerald of an Empire,
Mother to minions, mistress of the misery & magnificence of the multitudes,
Master of the stout & savant,
such precocious puissance of personality, regal resilience,
my imagination renders eagles delivering sustenance to her,
bees bringing heavenscent -

Some say affection is a farce.
I’d surmise a soul who feels as such receives it in sparse parts.
Yet most will one day find themselves in amour.
As the Temptress ordains by coitus sustained, you will remain.
Not out of plight or by oath, but through providence.
For love is the ontological constant, so says the monogamous ominous.
That who created us oxytocin automatons with a volition so insidious, that both our spiritual and biological imperatives became synonymous.
If life were a game, than the deck is 51 cards; bearing one irrational inequivalence that's strikingly obvious.
The Ace of Hearts.
The fiercest and the kindest, as inconceivable as that may seem.
Yet if a boundless arithmetic exist in mathematics, than it will persist; to be the only quantity that realizes it’s infinite significance.

Seahorses...Why?
Dear Mother Nature woke one day,
and looked around with a sly smile,
surveyed her Earth, both land, and sea,
then paused to think for quite a while.
She beamed with joy with her new plan,
to think outside the box, create
a wonder for her earthly seas...
a creature that would not equate.
Strange, tiny fish that swim upright,
sway like a plant that swirls and flails;
propel themselves by mini fins,
and anchor with prehensile tails.
With equine heads, extended snouts
to suck in plankton and shrimp brine;
and so unlike most normal fish,
no mouths or stomachs to define.
Must constantly eat food to keep
up energy, or they will die.
A gift that helps them spot their prey...
can steer their vision from each eye.
Romantic will their courtship be;
eight-hour dances, pairs will spin
close, side by side and joining tails;
then breeding offspring will begin.
Monogamous, some mate for life,*
and rarer too, the males bear young
from eggs embedded in their pouch
from which in time, babies are flung.
Dear Mother Nature laughs with joy!
Her new creation will defy
the rules for creatures of the sea...
for humans to...then question...why...
...come up with reasons for her plan...
not knowing, just...because she can.

*There are mixed commentaries on whether Seahorses really mate for life.
Some say yes, others say only some species do, others report that they
do not.

Loyal
Monogamous
Infinite Faithfulness
Devotion to last a lifetime
Til Death do us part, why’d you break my heart
Destroyed in just one brief moment
Shattering to pieces
The one who stayed
Loyal
Cheater
Duplicitous
What a bogus excuse
You are for a human being
Such disloyalty has shattered my heart
A crime which you find trivial
An unfaithful scoundrel
As cold as ice
Cheater
Freedom
What I've attained
Since you walked out that door
No longer will I cry for you
You were never worth wasting time over
Now my days will be spent for me
All my dreams will come true
Now that I have
Freedom
Lonely
What you've become
A fitting consequence
For a man too foolish to see
He couldn't have his cake and eat it too
Now you are fat with all the lies
You tried serving to me
Now YOU are left
Lonely

love has to be perfect
in each and every way
love cannot hesitate
while eyes watch and wait
love should be original
spontaneous and surprise
love should be truthful
not tainted with lies
love should be monogamous
that means one on one
love is full of sacrifices
each one nobley done
love should be forever
and never not die
love should show it's jealousy
to it's loved ones eye's
love is certianly the reason
of why someone cries
love should be a comfort
always near by

Couplet
Waves pushed a torrent of power and might.
Against the tiny creature seemingly lost in the night.
With only the moon to navigate her path,
Little seahorse galloped—
Giddy up—giddy up—
Hungry suitors let her pass, tonight peace without wrath.
Hippocampus—was her genus, a clever equine design.
Upright she rocked, the shallow temperate sea brine.
With back and forth swiftness, and straight ahead scurry,
Little seahorse galloped—
Giddy up—giddy up—
Her love patiently waiting, she approached in a hurry.
Bequeathed to but one, her monogamous beau.
His sack carrying offspring, soon released in the flow.
She focused on him, and the time now at hand,
United they galloped—
Giddy up—giddy up—
Till they stopped in the moonlight, and knelt in the sand.
Together they witnessed their family emerge.
Dad’s brood pouch and safety, quickly empty and purged.
Fully formed miniatures, resembling Mother and Dad,
A thousand new seahorses now galloped away—
Giddy up—giddy up—
The obscurity of sea grass, their new life’s launch pad.

Narrative
"The E.R.I.C."
by: Eric L. Boddie
To each of you who feels you have failed to evolve
Because you are constantly running into various barriers
Sit back, relax, and let me tell you the story
Of the eight realistically inspiring characters
The first was a son to God and his mother
As Seen Through The Eyes Of The Word and not any other
Because he Learned That Love Is Stronger than what words can even utter
Because Love Is So Much Of An Action, there is no distance it can not cover
The second was a brother to his siblings and all humanity
Blessed With Many Gifts, but never known for vanity
Because he felt any fear outside of God only led to insanity
So every situation that arose, he handled so candidly
The third was a man, standing both, strong and proud
Humble to all men but Only To God had he bowed
Always soft spoken but forever searching for that loud
Forever content with self-reliance, no dependence on the crowd
The fourth was a friend, extended with helping hand
Forever faithful and true, never using that betraying brand
Knowing that friendships must be grown, they can't be bought in the can
Because instead of desiring to down-grade, he wanted to understand
The fifth was the freak, known to all and one
The inspiration of desire, the innovator of monogamous fun
One Eve at a time, that's how he got it done
Because the motto was for her to only leak at the grasp of his gun
The sixth was a nerd, but cool in all other ways
Serving as a lifetime member in how her hip sways
But something about knowledge always left him amazed
And for that reason, attention is what he always pays
The seventh was a soldier, always Fighting For Christ
Which did he Love more, God or his Life
Because the things that he did show that he paid his price
In Respect For The One Who Made The Greatest Sacrifice
And the eighth was the one who would let neither give up his fight
Telling each he is not wrong until they PROVE they're right
Because To Live Under The Star That Brings Bright Morning Light
Can only bring Hope, and there is no better sight
Each was greatly strong, each was greatly misunderstood
Rarely could either be challenged, but far too often, each was abused
In ways too great for a simply common mind to ponder
Causing the E.R.I.C. more Prayers, A Power that can never be overused

Epic
We had been married thirteen years.
We had two daughters aged four and one year old.
I had no idea what she wanted to talk about that day.
We went into our bedroom and closed the door.
There were no traces of any hatchets,
but by God one was about to fall.
I only heard the first few sentences before the room went silent.
The echo of my heart was beating in my skull.
A cold invisible sweat rolled down my brow.
My body was drowning in an unforgiving ditch of sinking mud.
The atmosphere was a sandpaper
grating against the grain of my senses.
Even the chair I was sitting on betrayed me
as it plugged itself into the wall.
There was no call from the governor
. The sentence was death by a lethal injection of
‘it is over, I want a divorce.’
My wife of thirteen years ended our relationship that day.
If love is bliss, if it is the light
then unrequited love is the switch that extinguishes the Sun.
I was sure “I am not in love with you,”
repeated itself in the annals of the entire universe.
Surely, the planets were no longer aligned;
the stars must have lost their brilliance that day.
At least the traffic must have stopped
and the economy crumbled worldwide.
Not as much as a mosquito bite
was affected that day.
All was as it should be.
Life was as fine as rain,
the day my world stopped spinning
and fell off its axis.
I cried that day,
I cried everyday for the next five years.
There is no pain
like the rejection
of the love of your life.
I was monogamous then
and I am monogamous now.
One life, one love.
It took me another two years to stop crying completely
and another three to grow a new spine.
It was, it is a brand new day and I am searching for my one love.
It feels good to be alive. It feels good to smell the flowers in the rain.

Husbandry of the earth
is not a monogamous issue
it cannot be a polygamous thing
polyandry, it is not at all
try monogamy war spring up
attempt polygamy, mistrust rises
bring polyandry, rivalry embitters
self-interest husbands the earth
and earth is spouse of jealous men
men who hold spears and arrows
and dig trenches of war
as their share of interest
looks threatened
Destiny of earth as spouse
is ashes and charcoal

Passive agreement to acquiesce by saying that necessary “I do”
impregnating the woman named above transpired until her belly grew
swollen with eden liat thy current star student
now sound asleep – counting sheep lined up in a queue
yet lately this personal state of affairs I chronically rue
and immerse myself in reminiscing about yesteryear
and wonder why passivity elected as a way to escape
utter aversion living with dad and (thy late) mom
both in a boiling can a bull stew.
Predilection to play Russian roulette by avoiding any safe sexual mode
i.e. contraceptives to avoid unplanned pregnancy
shrugged atlas off while spermatozoa adhered to reproductive code
which absence to use birth control also arose
as a natural propensity to procreate from natural urges that did goad.
Now, less joy de vivre doth prevail
to remain monogamous and uphold strictures from this male
fidelity, integrity morality, et cetera buts ahead without fail
from rampant testosterone urge to become appeased, fulfilled, satiated
no matter this dozen plus year bride and groom blindly entered
the unalterable sacred covenant whence sexual need now does ail.
After the birth of daughter numero dos did arrive
the preponderance of physical gratification
took a kamikaze nose dive
seeks special care in lass for long lasting marriage and love to strive.

Dramatic Monologue
daybreak calls off moon's whitewash
in the wee of this morn I startled up from what quite seemed like a crash landing from midair plunge of a fledgling's first flight—thanks to my false 'alarmers'; the plantain eaters, I take them for angry doves, and yet, the laughing doves do coo me down in these dawns. Yeah... few months ago I stood behind my window bars, peering on as usual to catch a view or Olympic squirrels hopping from branches to clumps when I saw this floundered bird, soaring downwards, dipped through and crashing into razor leave and needle sharp branch nodes and some weather eroded bamboo sticks—the first time I might have witnessed a fallen angel, it was like a burning out star, this time shooting upside down.
emergency
circling above leaf falls
hawks siren
the day getting fast heat up as noon approaches, there's a whole of this host of hawks, rounding up the clumper and close by rooftops with squeaks and squeaks upon squeaks; what I thought at first was a catch that got dropped off grasp has become the target for rescue—like a fledging hanging frail and exhausted, trapped. But, the mating season of the African Harrier Hawk is just on, so could it be a male who got attacked by another male who tries to protect its territory as these hawks are found to be monogamous? I still focus on this rare scene in the air by the arboreal.
saccade
distorts in the dry wind
dragonfly drifts
eventide's in a frenzy and row, black and white mannikins chirr and ambience suppressed as squirrels chirp, join the coucal's moans and a choral flock of yellow warblers that doesn't wobble in a field of bromes—no ventriloquist's effects. Haven flown in wavy slides up and down, skimming near to claw and drag the victim out of the snare-like nest unsuccessfully, some hawks perch to catch a breath between the laughter of doves, the plantain eaters, claiming territory on the mango tree too, crackle and chase the hawks one by one, so I wondered if the hubbub had been intended for a jeer against the predators.

If I am to love again, let it be
A love exchange friend and friend.
Beloved, a true love.
If I keep pace, a relay race.
If I am to love again, let it be monogamous.
And I slay the heart of the one which I love.
A love that spawns a passion which yearns.
Let the one not start to depart while this
Gifted one sees my entrails, The me that I am.
You see, I bleed.
I have proclamations of my Love's AUTHENTICATION.
IF I am to love again let it be of a kind of seed which
Clamours for a love beset in me of NOURISHED FIDELITY.
