Lost Soul

I was lost.

For years
I was in my own world,
off doing my own thing,

didn't want to be saved,
never mentioned his name.

I was lost.

Walked around
with no guidance.
Made it out
of some things
because my steps
were still guided.

And I know,
the last thing
you wanna hear
is a poem bout
Jesus,

but I wouldn't
waste my time
if I didn't believe it.

Religion and tradition
is misguided
and overrated.

It's the way
I live,
and my walk with him
that's the proof
that I made it.

I was lost.

The person
you see
is not who
I was,

I was far gone,
sin is a heck
of a drug.

For years
I dripped with guilt.
Quick to condemn myself
because of the life
that I lived.

Broke laws and
lived wild,
smoked weed and
popped bottles,
nearly every night.

Would drown myself
in darkness,
always running from
the light.

I was lost.

Started closing my heart.

But would
bust it open
for the wrong reasons
and a low life.

But it's not
about the politics.

The past mistakes
or what ifs.

I wanted the freedom,
he gave me a taste.
Came back years later,
"look at the mess
that I made"

But it was
what I'd wanted,
so I couldn't complain.

I was lost.

My mind had me thinking
I had fallen from grace.
I had no fight in me,
tried to self medicate.

I look at all
the things I've done
and wonder how
he could forgive.

Like all the times
I gave up on him,
and didn't want
to live.

Never learned
to love myself
until he loved me
at my darkest.

He stuck around
when I couldn't shine,
and my attitude
was cloudy.

Despite all that I'd done
I was never forsaken.
Even when I left him,
he stayed with me daily.

He was the one
who plucked me
from the ocean,
while people stood
on the beach
not seeing me drowning.

But his grace
is sufficient.
He says I'm forgiven,
that he loves me,
and he means it.

I was lost.

But look at me now.

All you see
is my past,
all he sees
is my crown.

My soul's been restored
and he's fixing
what's broken,
I could have been dead
do you see why
I owe him?

Life for a life
but the payout
is worth it.

The payout is worth it.

I was lost.

Feels good to be back.

Lost Soul of No Cause

There isn't any reasoning
With a soul that's lost their way.
Clouded by an air of deluded thought
But then the devil saved the day.

No one seems to understand him
Not in the way that I do.
For when you lose all meaning of life
Any way ahead you will pursue.

So a pact with the devil he offered me
A life with him eternally.
To dwell in the fires of hells abode
But my soul was no longer mine to be.

But at the time it felt so right
Because of past year's in struggles fight.
To now only exist in Lucifers home of hell
That In eternity I now live in his spell.

An easy route to take
When your at your lowest point of all.
And when there seems no other answer
Except to be at re devils beck and call.

My Tired And Lost Soul Next This Wise Advice Out It Screams

As harder blown dry winds skulk among oldest granite stones
And the spitting sun flamed the mass of white desert sand
I trekked alone, jagged pains pulsing through my old bones
My weathered soul cursed God of this god-forsaken land
I could see a gloomy night trying to rear its ugly head
Where could in this barren pitiful hot, hot place dare I sleep
All here was hard rocks and sand, not a damn good place to bed
I thought this damnable fierce land wants this dear life to keep
As my worn-out soul begged for water and damn lot of rest
So under a scrubby bush I sat down to my diary write
Was this a hazardous darken journey, a god given test
Then these eyes saw above, bright stars painting the night.

With my nightly prayers said, I laid down to dream
And this love-struck heart recalled her very beautiful face
And how we together were such a great and fine winning team
Then massive sadness flew on into my brief joy replace
Dawn's breath was blown and my romantic heart finally woke
This reborn spirit decided to this abject darkness fight
Mused I, this soul-searching journey is indeed no damn joke
Surely it was not my responsibility to set things right!
Had she not to another man sworn her undying love
Promised him to be his new and true beautiful queen
Even next, promised to forever love to our God above
And swore to forward race over to his daring dark scene.

My tired and lost heart soul next this wise advice outward screams.
Son, you deserve better than light from her black treacherous beams.

I was only 19 years old when I composed this one. I thought about doing a major editing job but decided not to. Just let it stand as is, a poem written by a 19 year old kid. God bless..

Premium Member Sole of My Soul

These shoes no longer fit
Torn stitch
Missing sole
Floating down sun drenched river
I ponder if retrieving It would suit my purpose
Or further enslave the symbolic liberation from foot
Oppressed by lace and tread
Left to walk earth and root
As I force it up between my toes
Leaving trails of heel
Scent of pheromone
Torn shirt
There is nothing to sniff out
Or parties to gather
Only reflective soul
A vestige of the whole
Alongside an old shoe
And buoyant insert

Dear Lost Soul

I'm one to talk about forgetting it all
But I feel like I haven't moved at all
I put too much ice on my broken arm.
I'm now numb to my hollow core.

Dear lost soul, I'm here and still strong
Scarlet feathers and unfinished songs
I prayed that I'd reach you somehow.
A chasm still exists between us.

Quite some time still has to pass
Can you see and touch my fire?
I burn for things that will never be mine
Like the beauty I lost when you died
Or the darkness that once welcomed me
In its innocent warmth

What peculiar fate to carry the weight
Of a world that will never know love
My stories speak about how your teeth
Lures me in when you smile
I was aware of how I wanted to be
Who you'll chase and understand

Yet A Spark In This Lost Soul Still Ignites

Cast into barren deserts of sorrow
no real joy and no hope for tomorrow
In burning darkness and hot blasting sand
endless sad tunes from destiny's band.

Nights are so cold and without future plans
sorrow's furnace blows its misery fans
Death, your deep, clawed grasp has taken this soul
I, walking shadow, now with no life goal.

Every new dawn, hot sun bakes and defeats
this tired old beating heart with thirst it treats
Hours pass as years, I find no real relief
from deepest caverns of this epic grief.

Yet a spark in this lost soul still ignites
faith in my mind, I shall win future fights.

Hope For a Lost Soul

If you cannot rise to the challenge of love
Then spare us the hatred and bitterness
Plumb the depths of your soul in silence and in solitude
That you may penetrate the mysteries of your inability to love
Resolve your inner conflict and rejoin us when you are able
Only then will you do no harm
Only then will you truly belong
Only then will you see that Life is for lovers
When your actions are not borne of love
You cannot but hate yourself
For the waste of life
In dreadful realisation of what might have been

Premium Member Hayden, A Lost Soul

She was a star at a young age, and this was her life
A life that appeared exciting, glamorous but full of strife
A talented actress and singer with a smile to delight
No one really knew her turmoil of being in the limelight

Her voice was another talented gift that surprised many
Her singing as Nashville’s Juliette could have won an Emmy
She was also marine life activist and did more than her part
As She dedicated her time fighting for their rights from her heart

She spoke of experiencing both sexual and domestic abuse
As this led her to experiment with substances and drug use
She seemed to struggle with mental health and depression too
On the outside, she appeared so strong, no one had a clue

Years later she admitted to her struggles and got clean
But her inner demons taunted her and her self-esteem
Neutrogena made her the cover girl of their campaign
Until her post-partum depression then removed with disdain

She had a wonderful daughter, a gift she brought into her life
But had many parenting struggles and was not ready to be a wife
Her career continued to grow and bloom and well as her struggles
She left this earth too young as she succumbed to her troubles

She will always be remembered for, beautiful smile, kind soul and heart
But it’s very sad that at thirty-six her life ended and she had to depart

A Lost Soul

~ To My Brother~

When I live in the darkness for days and nights I don't
envisage to write a poem, but here I am crying over
the loss of my brother who died on Easter Sunday,
I stopped allowing my roses to come and sit by my side,
I left them those dozens of exotic colors to die,
I don't throw them away my living room with the china
vase looks dead, even the colors have faded away,I watch
my China table its on the verge of closing on itself,
just to get away not to breath from my grieving air.

Tonight I am in pain,my vision is overflowing with
endless tears,I am alone because my brother left me
and went away,he didn't even say goodbye,I didn't hear
him cry or even try to live as he knew he had to go away
in silence, carrying with him his lung cancer disease.

He died alone on a hospital bed his heart betrayed him
Why,he was still young 70 is not old, what was he feeling
we will never know, was he afraid, was he sad,was he
suffering,he was screaming they told me out of pain,
he was struggling maybe wanting to remain alive to
come back to see us at least one more time before his
final breath will give up on him,was he delusional
the whole morning till 6 30 PM when his soul became
muted, sad,as God wanted him to join his late brother
mother and father.

My pain is not only I miss him,its in what state of mind he
was in when he gave up, we will never know.
This endless emptiness he left behind will linger forever.
Now only I can wish you a goodbye.My children & I
Will always Love you.

Lonely Death, Fate Of A Lost Soul

Ron sat in the dark alley with urined soaked pants
muttering in a drunken stupor one of his many rants
Facial scars told of falls, beatings from being robbed
misery and blues broke him down into shrieking sobs

Once he had a wife and three precious little pearls
heart pains tore him up when he lost those girls
Now a defeated and broken soul without a home
the dark streets and drunkard's alley he roams

Realizing that his days are now so sadly numbered
he slumps back into a deep whiskey induced slumber
Waking hours later with those agonising chest pains
the cold numbing from the falling freezing rains

Moving over to hide beneath a huge dumpster lid
he thought yet again of his beautiful lost kids
No good to weep about the mess in the here and now
blue pain ripped into his heart like a cutting plow

That night he dreamt of love, life and family before
Sun rose that morning , Ron slept on, forever more

Robet J. Lindley 07-23-2014

Note : This based upon the real life story of my brother's
good friend. His friend 7 years older than he , that died
in 1997. My brother the drunkard that has never stopped
drinking in 38 years. Himself not long for this world!
And has not seen his own beautiful daughter nor his grand
children in over 34 years, since 1980!
I wrote a poem, title, A Drunk's Prison, back on 5-5 2014 here.
It was about my alcoholic younger brother.
This one is about his alcoholic friend that died!

Lost Soul

The Way Of Death

 Only God and Lucifer,

 comprehend this quiet place.

 Where evil and corruption rule,

 for the lack of grace.

 Where night moves its shadow,

 like a stealthy sprite;

 and there is no thought,

 of the desirability of sight.

 Words, like leaves,

 flow softly across the ground,

 yet, never scratch the surface,

 of this hardened mound.

 The sun's warm rays,

 will not enter this domain.

 Nor shall seasons of virtue,

 its habitation gain.

 No light of wisdom,

 with its life giving air,

 can invade the solitude,

 of this depressing lair.

 No selfless acts,

 of love and kindness here.

 Deaths calmness rules,

 this God forsaken sphere.

 Time only brings increase,

 to this lamentable condition.

The rotting corpse inside its tomb,

 showing no contrition.

 Lying still, without concern,

 for any ray of light.

 Sinking down to nothingness,

 lost from heavens sight.

John 5:40 "Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."

Rom.8:7 " The carnel mind is enmity against God...."

1 Cor.2:14 "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God...."

What has taken you to the edge ???, again !!!
What is dragging you into that abyss ???
Why are you slipping back into that black hole ???

What is it ??? causing you such pain !!!
What is it ??? we are seeming to miss !!!,
that is ripping you apart, steeling your soul !!!

From this self-destructive behavior, you need to refrain !!!
You need to get beyond !!!, find some bliss !!!
Find some answers, come to know

the amount of stress, the amount of strain
you are inflicting within your body, for you can kiss
it all goodbye if you soon do not let it all go !!!

So far from home,
Wondering why he's here,
Just another face in the crowd,
No one.
