Don'T Bother Me

Don't bother me with conformity
don't bother me today-
with things I should (or shouldn't) do
or what I shouldn't say!

Don't bother me with conformity
my house is not “obscene”...
Orange, purple, and lavender
look lovely with lime green!

Don't bother me with conformity
I'm much too happy, carefree
to wonder why the neighbors all
keep staring so at me!

Maybe they're jealous of my tail
I really don't give a hoot!
Surely they have seen before
grown-ups in zebra suits?

Don't bother me with conformity
...too busy to follow your lead!
I've whatcha-ma-call-it thingies to build
and unicorns to feed!

Don't bother me with conformity
don't worry me this way!
You've stepped on all the faeries toes
and run the elves away...

Don't bother me with conformity
you're being such a pest!
My mud pies were quite fabulous
and not a “filthy mess”!

Don't bother me with conformity
my music's not so loud...
Accordions are delightful-
See? It's already drawn a crowd!

...Respectfully holding their applause
until I reach the end-
Oh no- they really love it so!
You're quite mistaken, friend!

Don't bother me with conformity
come dance a jolly jig!
You really should loosen up a bit
you sad, forlorn, old prig!

Don't bother me with conformity
No thanks! I've had my fill...
of boring, bland, and deathly dull
no doubt that boredom kills!

Don't bother me with conformity
Oh, what was that you said?
Well, I think you (and your boring lot)
are the crazy ones instead!

‘Hey stomach,’ says anus,
‘Would you cut the crap.’
“It’s not me,’ stomach says;
‘I won’t take the wrap.

It’s what they’re eating,
So blame teeth and mouth.
I’m innocent,’ says stomach,
‘For that filth down south.’

Brain has a good laugh
At organ expenses,
By prodding infighting
Over false offenses.

‘Are you kidding me,
You two dumb kidneys.
Always a teamed pair
For a fight that’s not fair!’

Roared livid liver
Who was hardly pleased,
That they blamed him
For the smelly feces.

‘Oh stop it now, liver
Just sit there and filter.
We said no such thing;
Don’t get out of kilter.’

‘Tee-he-he,’ laughs brain.
My plan’s working well,
To keep each organ
At odds over a smell,

That they have no power
To change or repair,
And since they can’t think
They’ll stay unaware.’

Hands and mouth kept
Eating junk by the hour.
Having been brainwashed,
They blindly devour.

Long ago brain trained eyes
To focus on the news,
Now it was time for all
Parts, to pay ‘their’ dues.

Bones pipe up, and say,
‘Something doesn’t feel right,
Hey muscles loosen up;
Why do you squeeze so tight?’

Muscles answer and say,
‘Colon and intestines
Are the guilty squeezers,
Causing congestion.

I’m just doing my part
At the request of the brain.’
‘But muscles,’ says bones,
‘It’s causing me pain.’

And after a while
Brain has all body parts,
At odds with themselves;
Over endless bad farts.

Organs, blood, and guts
Could not get along;
They once did their jobs
Keeping the body strong.

But brain has the answer,
‘Let’s vote on what to do.
Either I run the show,
Or you deal with bad poo!’

Yes, brain got them quibbling
And each held a grudge.
All based on false info
That made brain, ‘King Judge’.

So each part gave in
To that sneaky design,
And waited for orders
From brain to assign.

But brain was a liar
And steered organs wrong.
The body collapsed;
It didn’t take long.

Just like brain, most statesmen,
Fool us like we’re tarts.
Let’s not die for their lies,
But stay whole, not apart.

Premium Member Choco-Mama Mania

Ooey, gooey, give me choc-o-lot!
If I must, I'll take it liquid hot,
But "wicked" like they fix it in Madrid,
Thick as porridge, satin sunburnt sweet.
(Not like here: sugar, milk and cocoa, mix and heat).
Give me some hot chocolate I can eat!

Drip-drop-dripping from a spoon!
Give it - give it to me in a box.
Tantalize my lips with luscious bits,
Rum and amaretto morsels dipped.
Give me it in chips or chunks or blocks.
And please not those from K-mart or the grocer.
We connoisseurs much prefer it kosher!

Give it to me Swiss or straight from France.
Hurry while I loosen up my pants!
I'll make do with anything you have.
Drizzled over ice-cream nice and smoothy.
chocolate is the universal salve.
chilled or warm, but slathered on it soothes me.

Make my ice-cream chocolate flavored too-
peanut butter swirls with fudge will do.
Be my ever sweet-tooth choco-fairy.
Finger-feed me bonbons. I'm your baby.
Feed me plump and succulent black berry.
Give me, give me, give me what I crave,
and I shall be your love-starved-choco-slave.

When I wrote this, it just flowed to me, like chocolate water; usually I have to sit and think a bit and poetry often does not flow from me in this way!

Christmas Eve Mystery

The sun had set, and it was Christmas Eve.
Dear Santa finished up and packed the sleigh;
made sure his Reindeer were geared up to go
before they'd have some time outside to play.

Now it was time to go to North Pole Park,
for there they'd snack on greens below the snow,
and run and prance to loosen up their legs
for galloping through space 'neath moonlit glow.

There, Santa rested on his favored bench;
'tween nodding, saw them romping everywhere.
However, Rudolph proudly stood on guard
beside him watching with protective care.

But soon enough, except for one, they'd fled;
whichever way they looked, none to be found!
Rudolph and Santa surely seemed upset...
yelled out each name in hopes they'd come around.

Before long, darkness fell upon the park.
Did Santa's deer come back to join the team?
Yes...every precious gift arrived on time.
'Twas only Santa's 'forty winks' bad dream!

Reaching For the Light

In the waiting room, the plant
Sat near the windowsill.
Purple leaves were nodding
Like they had their own free will.

Their skinny stems supported
What were leaves split up in threes;
All were dancing to the music
From the radiator breeze.

Outside the sun was shining
Though the day was brisk and cold.
That brightness drew the plant
And like Svengali, had a hold.

For every leaf was straining
To get closer to the light.
I wondered if they’d loosen up
When day turned into night.

I guess we’re not so different
‘Cause it’s natural to yearn
For whatever makes us cozy
And it’s to that source we’ll turn.

Love Yourself

This my advice to self.
Stop lying to yourself.
The smiles betray the hurt that runs to deep.
You need to stand tall .
Stop becoming bitter even if its what your name means.
Always love, make it your motto.
Let this hatred of self-doubt and self direct lies disappear.
Because the hate will get you every time.
Always love yourself.
How can you tell this to everyone but yourself.
Loosen up and dance, feel the summer’s breeze.
God will forgive you if you let go.
Remember you dreams because they have died in your cave of reality, of every day.
Stop suffocating your spirit.
Let it run free with your dreams and believe.
Time won’t stand still for you.
We may always be destined to remember but never can we always go back and change time.
Step forward and give yourself room to sometimes fail.
Life is about mistakes and despair, otherwise how will you ever learn.
Be an example not an exception.
If you stop hurting yourself with this doubt .
Then you can stop the hurt for your children..
They are your future.
You have to learn to hurt and get over it.
This is God’s blessing.
So You may be able to apprecatie what is giving to you.
Mary , why do you hide and hurt.
Have you forgotten the love that fills your life everyday.
It may not be money, a nice house or a car.
But it is a house full of laughter.
Hugs and kisses at night.
Gratitude for being a wonderful mother and wife.
You let this hatred of doubt become your greatest fear.
It’s evilness has slowly killed your courage.
Believe in your faith and remember this is all part of God’s grander plan.
Forgive yourself for not being able to resolve life’s problems.
Instead emerge full of strength that guides you to always love yourself.

Premium Member Ceraunophilia - To Dance In The Storm

Oh to be fearless, to dance in the storm
And break free from the confines of norm...

Beneath those ominous, lumpy clouds
Captured in the swirls of hurried wind,
My arms open to the sky where my eyes are fixed
Swaying joyously in the rain.
The rumbling rolls of thunder
Stimulate and excite
Building up tension and suspense toward
That expected flash of light!

The bubbly base of the clouds turn silver.
It's like the sky tells the land, " Say, 'Cheese!' "
Though darkness conceals earths colours,
The flash briefly exposes their glory.
A normal response is to hide indoors,
To distract from the noise and chill -
In life, I must learn to loosen up,
Perhaps occasionally seek a thrill.

Oh to be fearless, to dance in the storm
And break free from the confines of norm.

Homonym

Don’t you agree with my ability
to loosen up on our times in no night ?
A river thing was flowing
through foliaged silence.

In deranged hour of the
neck tie, you throw up obscenity
on road. What ? Chicken hearted ?
Sickle cell anemia ?

Goat rioting before sacrifice:-
the tiny feet will drop from heaven
to walk in blood and bless you
for dispatching the head of unlove.

The night hawk butchers the hope,
if the baby owl cries again. Afraid,
I am going to take a flight
to yellowing moon.

Premium Member Surfing the Air

The breeze perfectly snaked up the mountain,
Through bushes, over rocks, towards me.
I leant back, pulling my wing up, it bloated in full,
Then hovered above the trees.

I stood there, both hands working the lines,
Looking out across the empty.
And I casually stepped off the cliff, “Was there enough air?” I thought.
Yes, there was plenty.

The thermal soared me straight up, into the vast,
Below me everything became small.
I flew up so high, I was part of the sky,
My life begged this wing not to stall.

Then, all of a sudden, I popped out of the thermal,
My wing crumpled into a small nothing,
I plummeted in that momentary second, it opened again,
This wing was only bluffing.

Of course I was at the mercy of the air,
As it roared like the ocean and waves.
It took me silently over the cemetery of its victims,
An air cemetery full of its graves.

For hours I surfed, predicting the swell,
Riding breaks and soaring off the crest.
And then I cruised back to the Earth, landing on terra firma,
Feeling heaps, and way less stressed.

Paragliding was my life, for a while,
It was my source of unwind, loosen up, and relax.
What things relax you, how do you chill and compose,
Loosening up to the max?

Premium Member Bite Me

Be sure, I'm aware of your critical eye, why should I care?
I don't have to look like you do, because you can't compare.
There is such a thing as individual expression, so don't stare.
Even if it "ruffles your feathers", I don't really care!

Maybe you should loosen up, borrow some of my flair.
Everyone will just have to get used to it, so BITE ME, there!

Delete, Delete, Delete

Delete, Delete, Delete

These days I'm learning how to delete, delete, delete
Unto unfortunate circumstances there are many people
I must delete, delete, delete
Everyone needs to own and know how to standup and fully meet
Up to even politicians and extreme vindictive people I will delete,
delete, delete
There now is no one that can hurt me anymore just click or press
delete, delete, delete
Only wish I could delete that speeding ticket I just received
Maybe I should call that sweet detective I once went out with
Now I know I could not delete him so, even though
He treats me with so much respect of this I do know
So I'd better loosen up and stop pressing that delete, delete, delete.

Premium Member Louise's 4-Flavor Cheesecake Hex

I do love cheese!
Jeez, Louise,
what artistry I see.
A scrumptious luscious fresh confection
waits here just for me.

It’s fine, so fine
and looks divine.
What an awesome feat -
to make dessert that looks almost
too beautiful to eat!

Oh, what a cake!
For heaven’s sake,
it’s like a rainbow pie. . .
You’ve got it quartered up real nice
in different colors. My!

It’s four in one;
son of a gun!
One part blueberry blue.
There’s cherry red, rum-drizzled (yum)
And chocolate flavored too.

It’s first to blue
I say “I do”
and take a hearty bite.
Ooh la la LA! My tongue awakes
to magical delight!

On to red. . .
Am I now dead?
Nirvana, here am I!
Near bliss achieved with baked sweet cheese
and mounds of cherries. . . . (sigh)

The color cream
with rum. . . a dream!
I think I’m in a trance.
This cheesecake is half gone now.
Let me loosen up my pants!

The dark and sweet
is left to eat.
What decadence! What sin!
This double trouble chocolate
has completely done me in.

You say each day
we’ll eat this way?
You’ve put on me a hex. . .
I’ve got to have you for my wife.
Your cheesecake outdoes sex!

Living

Break all the shackles of attachments
wash away the guilt, regrets from the heart
dust the unpleasant memories in the head
melt the fear of unknown,
loosen up the tangled hair ,
with the enlightened soul
smile on the lips, confidence in the eyes
with free spirit and freedom,
live the life to the core.
take the risk for once to live
as you wish ,as its too short
to let go and too long to
bore and burden it.
thousand voices say you are wrong
but when you know you are true
then take the dive/plunge.
it costs but nothing is free.
if afraid of light ,one will always be
in the dark tunnel.
there is no perfect time, age, place, person etc to be content
where your heart is,bliss is there.
Its tough ,gruelsome to risk the easy
but is it better than life full of regrets ?
it may take time for passion/dream to turn into reality
but which doest take time and pain?
one cant run unless he sets his foot on the ground.
to fly ,all it takes is to spread wings and fly agianst the wind.
The price you get is-you will fall in love
with a wonderful person and that is you.

The Southpaw

THE SOUTHPAW
By Roy Merritt

This kid has a helluva arm
The coach he told the scout
And if we could get him
to get it over the plate
He'd strike all the batters out
He can throw it really fast
Over a hundred and twenty per
You might not believe what I'm saying
But that's the truth dear sir
He doesn't have a curve ball
No slider or a change up
But if you're standing at the plate
You better be wearin' a cup
That's our biggest problem with him
This kid is really wild
And all those who have to face him
Turn into a little child
And if one comes whistlin' in
And goes anywhere near their head
They start swingin' at anything
Facin' him they dread
Now the scout he was a cynic
The story was always the same
We gotta a pitcher you should see
He'll make it to the Hall of Fame
And so the southpaw he took the mound
And started to loosen up a bit
And then he saw the batter in the box
And this kid was biting his lip
Why is that he wondered
Why does he look this way
Why is he hesitant to take his cuts
And put the ball in play
And then the scout he found out why
And came to believe what the coach had said
Cause the southpaw threw one wild and
By God knocked off his head
Yes indeed his head came off
Right there at the plate
I know it's hard to believe
But that's the truth for goodness sake
And so the ump he followed it
As it rolled all over the ground
The stadium stood deadly silent
You couldn't hear a sound
And finally at last the head stop rolling
And the ump picked it up you know
And so held it aloft
He really was a pro
He held it there eye to eye
Lookin' it square in the face
And shouted aloud “You been walked
Now batter take your base!”
