Best Longsuffering Poems

The Three

Faith is the foundation, a rock, a bastion, a calling, a commitment,
requiring a leap, trust, surrender, a fearless heart, a willing spirit,
a higher conciousness.

Hope is a sustainer, a bottomless well, a lifting up by spirits wings,
a trusting soul, clouds of doubt pushed aside, a hand reaching out
trusting to be caught.

Love is the greatest, the key to open the first two. Love never fails,
the fruit of the spirit, longsuffering, a fearless domain, not puffed up,
enduring all, a joy to know, never selfish, freely given. A touch of
healing, a song not heard but felt, a spirit moving, a question you need
not ask. A state of peace, a heart unbridled, the answer to all questions,
a perfect truth, a solution for all things.

Premium Member A Doily a Day

delicate lace linked by crochet
labyrinthine stitches a doily a day

counted by repetitious candlelight
motherly hands of preponderant foresight

twisting and surrender of silent threads
tucking each one into intricate spreads

lovingly lace reflects persistence of face
a warm cosseted Victorian embrace

from hands that stumbled with wrinkles
forlorn and gnarled knots, catastrophic crinkles

yet the warm, soft hand that comforts her ill
a kin that kindles the fire and spins with skill

she’s mastered the lessons rendered at the knee
of longsuffering love and mother’s humble marquee

Premium Member Love At Work

Compassion* kindled by faith
Ignites reaching-out kindness
Sharing gracious hope aglow...
God’s blissful love radiates blest peace.

Premium Member Holy Spirit Fire

Kissing my thoughts
With a breath of hope
Whispering joy
Over heart and soul
Lifting with promises
Of kindness and peace
Inspiring the light
To caress all my dreams

Filling my mind
With faith so alive
It promises to believe
God is forever inside
Shedding the Holy Spirit
All through my life
In rays of affection
Compassion and delight

Touching my life
With a gentle sigh
Arousing the feelings
With second chances
Compelling laughter
Smiles that reach out
Beaming wonders
Felt in sincere prayers
Ensuring grace abounds

The fruit of the Spirit
Flows through the thoughts
Frees the mind
And colors the whole world
In hues of charity
So wise and so alive
Thriving on the inside
Where He always resides
Blessing hearts and lives
Capturing souls in His fight
To give the incredible gift of
Everlasting life!

Premium Member Some Might Say Plum Tuckered

Plum tuckered from the Polar Express,
off the rails and despairing of goody-
goody gumdrops and sweet words
that impresses many a poetic treat.

Preparation of Victorian sweets, via PC,
dreaded, droll, glorious and interminable.
I’m laughing at you, if you try, Sugar Plum.
You’ll turn colors as a longsuffering victim.

The SP Fairy, flew through the season
of peace and joy, only her tippy toes caring.
Not a fruitcake, herself, to be busy for days,
nor fuss and layer a dobosh torte for hours.

Fruit of the Spirit

Come near,
so you can hear
Come near,
let me whisper life in your ear
Come close,
let me reveal a secret to you
The Garden of Eden is within your grasp,
reach out and taste the fruit
The fruit of the Spirit
is the divine food of holiness
It's the essence of God given to the blessed
Come taste the nectar of the fruit ---

Love:
it's the sweetest gift of God showered from above
Joy:
it's the baptism of happiness given to every girl and boy
Peace:
letting go of hurt and pain is the most gracious release
Longsuffering:
is the prince ... Tolerance is the queen ... Patience is the king
Gentleness:
is the parent of every tenderly given caress
Goodness:
are the godly children of sacred obedience
Faith:
is your beloved spouse, your beloved soulmate
Meekness:
increases your compassion, as the anger grows less
Temperance:
is your best friend with the twin named Abstinence

There is no law given
that can supercede any of these
If you desire the pleasure of holy living,
then eat of the fruit of the Spirit liberally

9 Fruit Spirit Salad

Someone offered me a taste
of what they call fruit spirit salad
It wasn't made with oranges or grapes
and it didn't tempt my palate

This salad was made of fruits of what we call the spirit
So listen carefully my friends, you might just want to hear it

They told me it all began with (love) and they sprinkled in some (peace)
poured in a little (patience) and added (joy) to the feast

Stirred it with some (kindness) and little (self-control)
use (faithfulness) and (goodness) to sweeten up the bowl

Spice it up with (gentleness) to kick it up a notch
The love that comes from God is what you really got

BAM!!!!

enjoy life ;)

Give Thanks

It’s okay if it ends now.
Quite fine if it stops here.
Never expected the joys I’ve had.
Children. Amazing. The best.
Their innocence, their laughter, their passion to breathe.

I have loved too.
Loved my children, and my mother.
They too have loved me in return.
Actually, perhaps first, they taught me.
I have loved a woman as well.
I think briefly she loved me.
Then unrequited was my love forever.

Still to tingle, obsess, crave our rendezvous.
Imagine her smile, natural, unforced, her gentle face,
her beckoning eyes, her rose moist lips to kiss.
She was beautifully formed and lovely to behold.
My pulse perpetually pounded in her presence.
So special she was.
So special she made me feel.
Once.
Only in love does participation surpass anticipation.
I’ve experienced this gift, this grace.
Many do not.

There is still love in me.
A gratitude of love.
Compelled to give thanks.
How?
Discover through sacrifice, self-discipline, and longsuffering,
by faith.
Who?

Premium Member Grateful am I to You, Lord

Dear Lord, Almighty...
You be honoured for Your grace
enabling servant-heart attitude
emanating from submissive and grateful spirit
helping me to be the steward striving to do Your will
as You keep on drawing me nigh to Your heart
esteeming You above all else...

My God, thank You for showing
how long suffering* You are toward me
though I appear arrogant and unyielding…
Please constantly teach my heart
of humility’s virtue, righteously rewarding
as genuinely exemplified by Christ, the Saviour
Who yielded Himself sacrificially, with love so exceeding.
Thus, I seek Your meekness-grace drive;
help me bear --- for Your sake,
every act I perceive as condescending!

My Saviour, Your long suffering for me
highlights Your merciful compassion at work
notwithstanding my service that’s unacceptable…
Kindly correct my soul against prayerlessness
and faith’s increase-failure due to vanity-stumble
for me to progress in Your holy kingdom’s pursuit
making my servanthood fruitfully favourable.
Hence, I need Your power’s fortitude;
empower me --- to live for Your glory
as Your Spirit does move my being!

*Exodus 34:6 …The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth.

Winds of My Soul

Longsuffering soft whispers
Gently linger through the winds of my soul
My empty cup now bitter
Left by the taste of loss

Your sweet music
I still hear distantly playing
Faintly keeping time
With the murmur of my heart

Your love like a storm
That never passes in night
Rain falling as my tears
Lighting electrifies my being

My thunder you are
Shaking my heart to the core
Earthquakes like waves
Wash over me as your arms.

The fray inside rages on
My split mind quarreling
Feeling you gone
With me always

Praise God You Are a Christian

Stop praising your problems and praise your position;
Take time out and praise God that you are a Christian.
If you exalt your problems or lift them to high;
God the Father you will fail to glorify.

Have faith in God, give Him a chance;
Quit getting caught up in your circumstance.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, take them off of your condition;
Take time out and praise God you are a Christian.

satan is busy on every hand;
Trying to destroy God's dynamic plan.
Testify to the truth; to the Word be a witness,
And in all your struggles be about you Father's business.

For the Fruit of the Spirit includes Longsuffering and Faith;
You can handle it, for sufficient is God's grace.
Trust in the Lord as you go through the transition,
Take time out and praise God you are a Christian!!

Grace Under Presure

I bring you a live commentary match between Sin and Grace

Sin are inches away to the box
Lust shots, Self-Control reacts well and blocks
Longsuffering has been fouled at the 18-yard
Pride has been booked, he gets a yellow card

Envy probing for a goal, last week he scored a brace
Sin camping on the edge of Grace
A change for Sin, Lust out for fornication
Game resumes, an untimely clearance by abortion

A lengthy spell of Sin possession
They are playing with so much aggression
Pressure still mounting on Grace
Pride dribbles past a marker and finds space

Anger is booked for pulling Gentleness
A shot! And Truth denies Falseness
And another glorious chanced missed
Envy out for murder on the final substitution list

The minute is ticking away and Grace are standing firm
A long drive by Revelries, a great save by Peace! What a gem!
A handball by goodness at the halfway line
But ref. Mercy says No! She waves play on! Mine! Oh mine!!

Self-Control goes for shoulder-to-shoulder with Anger
And he wins the battle of defender
Oh! Outbursts of wrath as he fires over the bar
Wrath burst forward again and finds murder afar

But Self-Control masterminded that move
What a game he has had! He’s surely improved
Four minutes to stoppage time, a long searching ball to Joy
He shots! And is a goal! Amazing goal!! Oh boy!!!

Sin were exposed, and Joy curled the ball pass Sorrow
Am flabbergasted! For Sin, the road to the final looks narrow
Grace are just a seconds away to the World Crown Final
And it’s all over here! Grace are in the World Crown Final!

An astonishing game! An undeserved victory!
Grace wins by a lone goal and Grace makes history!
What a graceful display from the visitors!
As they vanquished the inquisitors!

What should we say? Should we wallow in sin, so that God's Grace will overflow?
God’s [mercy] forbid! If we are dead to sin and alive in Christ, how can we go on sinning? [Romans 6:1-2: The Poet Preacher’s Version]

Summer, Milltown, Belfast 1980's

Milltown, Shawsbridge in the 1980's...

When the sun had possession of the season
and tarmac was treacled by the temperature.
When we went to war with the wasps
and ventured wide eyed in 'the planties'
to the roped thrall of commandoland.
Back when 'mr freeze pops' and 'cherry coke'
was our sustenance against the beating sun.
When real music blared from ghettoblasters
and parents red raw slurped ice cold harp via can.
 When shawsbridge was appealing
and patchworked in vibrant beach towels,
folks clustered in defeat of the sun.
Back when the Barclay had an arcade machines
and we cross pollenated each's bedrooms
to play Nes, Atari and Amstrad CPC 464.
 Back when our longsuffering knees
were raw to the pavement
and rollerboots were means of transport.
When kirby was played and water pistols our means of defence.
 Back when reality glimmered....
 And summer shone with meaning.
