Best Long As I Can Remember Poems

Never Knew I Needed You

La...la..
yea..yea..

Far as long as I can remember,
you were always with me through December,
Has I walk the lonely roads of November,
I can know longer remember,
our coffee morning conversations,
our dreams, our obsessions,
they're all a blur to me now,
grief as finally won.

Never knew I needed you,
never knew I couldn't cope without you,
has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,
I sit and wonder,
if you knew,
I needed you,
never knew I needed you.

I remember laying in my bed,
with my phone in hand,
Pillow under my head,
as I listened to my favourite band,
before you would buzz,
a hello beautiful or a hey hun,
Those days, there gone,
no longer available to me,
I now listen to music alone.

Never knew I needed you,
never knew I couldn't cope without you,
has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,
I sit and wonder,
if you knew,
I needed you,
i never knew i needed you,
baby I need you.

Has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,

I needed you,
I never knew I needed you.

as you stay up above,
I'm sending you all my love,
I needed you, to need me too,
don't forget the day you left,
you left your heart behind,
with tears she tries to hide,
with the pain she locks inside,
all because you said goodbye,

Never knew I needed you,
I never knew I needed you,
baby I need you,
needed you,
la la la,
oh I needed you,

Premium Member Son of a Beach

For as long as I can remember,
the months of May through September,
have always been the most enjoyable for me.
If you wonder, it is easy to see.
I love the boardwalk, the sun, and the beach.
Summer fun has always been in reach.
My friends and I in an old beat-up Ford
would drive down to the beach with a surfboard.
Pleasant past thoughts I would reminisce,
as long as dive-bombing seagulls continued to miss.
Those were among the memories of yesterday.
However, little has changed up to today.
The season at the beach is especially nice
with girls in bikinis and Italian water ice.
With cool breezes, the surf, and the sand,
no other scenery can be as grand.
I am older now, but it does not matter to me.
I still enjoy every bit of the scenery.

Yearning For a Home Long Gone

Standing in the ankle high emerald green grass of my
great-aunts property barefoot, hearing the creak of wood
on steel.
My daughter and husband are in the house napping, dreaming tenderly about sweet things.

Creak, crick, creak, crick goes the wood crying against
the steel. The porch swing was in use, the steady motions
a lullaby of calmness that washes over me along with a
whippoorwills cry upon the gentle breeze. It's an enticing symphony begging for a jig and dance.

Watching the waist high golden wheat sway to and fro taking my mind to simpler times. I inhale deeply enjoying the intoxicating scent that has no name as I shut my eyes.

The smells meeting my nose were of pinto beans and ham hocks simmering away on the stove. The scent of freshly baked cornbread resting on a wicker pot holder placed upon the table. The sizzle of pork chops frying, the bite of pickling spices and brine indicate to me dinner is almost ready.

Peals of muffled laughter and chatter let me know that
the rest of the family is here. The sun has started its
descent to bring twilight o'er the land, o'er the crops and
various garden vegetables that have grown here for as long as I can remember.

Crick, creak, crick, creak...

I opened my eyes hearing someone call my name. The yard vanishes, the smells dissipate, sirens pierce the silence of the room. My heart aches. For a place that is no longer.
For a familial experience like that again.

My heart aches for home. And as my husband and daughter are my home. I yearn for the home I had, wanting to show them that it can be.

Sunday suppers. Sitting around playing cards.

My heart aches for a legend long forgotten....

I believe in warmth
the comforting embrace of a loved one
crackling campfire on a January night
the smile of one who knows you're here to stay
it's been a long, cold lonely winter
I believe in hope
faith is the assurance of things hoped for
the certainty of what we do not see
   I don't see it, but I know it's coming
it feels like years since it's been here
I believe in love
the tide that lifts all boats
   the surprise gift
the compassionate ear that truly listens
the smiles returning to the faces
I believe in light
and the One who said, "let there be light"
the true light that gives light
empress of the night reflecting glory of the daystar
it seems like years since it's been clear
I believe in song
we sang to the moon last night as she rose:
   "Shine On, Harvest Moon", "Moonshadow",
"By the Light of the Silvery Moon".
   Little darling, it's all right

We sing again in chill of daybreak
with the roseate glow of realized anticipation…
   "Here Comes the Sun"

// The song "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles has been my favorite song as long as I can remember, for its simple message of hope, light, warmth, and love. It was the song my daughter chose to have played just before we walked the aisle on her wedding day, a very special moment for me. //

Empress Crown As Queen

I am going on a trip because I need to spend a week away from these aspects.

Don’t burn that money.

Don’t waste it either.

I’ll spend it on something that I dislike.

It may be a venture but since I have spent my money, I can get high.

Clip art are my drawings and they are of beautiful megabits.

I think I am superfly so I play Rock & Roll all night.

Madness

Sheer excitement

Escape to the highest heights of my imagination is when I know who I am and where I have been

Little am I and my jeans are tight.

With my big ****, I walk as if I am filled with sexual desire.

I see myself and smile.

My empire.

I’m feeling something that is so real.

I knew, if I lost focus, I lose my inner being.

So I give self a darn bulge, know that this is my world; therefore, I don’t lose the sensation.

The impression I give is that of confidence.

Self-asserted and assured, I moving up to finer things.

Handsome is the day and the night falls so lovely.

But I need to see what’s mine.

I need to see what belongs to me.

Strikingly, I find that I own so many priceless images.

A landscape I may pick to be serenity.

Or, a portrait is nice for the stillness.

I’ll plant a flower field to enjoy the contentment.

Equanimity is a silent panic.

I am just a being of the higher intelligence.

The noise is a clamor that does not last.

I will be the uproar of happiness.

Such a pleasure to have told you this.

If you want a replica, you may do the same.

That is joy in a virtual domain.

No more is the chance than any other government.

I have ruled this empire as long as I can remember.

Directions are easily to follow.

If you fail, I will not fail mines because all are downloadable.

I do not share my empirical secrets.

I am a régime of systems.

Simulated by thoughts that is pure.

Only I can be the downloader.

Premium Member Coleman Texas On My Mind

I remember Buster outside the old post office.
He was selling newspapers but mostly just giving you a smile.
Ol Felix's tamales
Were the best ones round for miles.
And I got my first bluejeans at Bob Turner's Western Wear.
And I remember that homecoming queen, she never even knew I was there.
And Coach Childress always made me feel
Like I could someday be a man
He is a rock hewn out of granite
Always a helping hand
There wasn't a thing there that I wanted,
Not a thing that I could see,
But every thing I'd ever need in life,
Was right in front of me.
And the place I thought would bring a curse to my future hopes and dreams?
Has only been a blessing, to all my memories.
I can't go home again
I can't go back in time.
But as long as I can still remember,
I can go there in my mind
.
Walking down that dusty Coleman road I sure never thought I'd live to get this old.
Dreams in my head and a pocket full of nothing, 12 and thinking I was grown.
Never dreamed I'd miss the things that made me want to leave.
I blinked once, or maybe twice
Bluecats and Friday nights,
And then time slipped by so suddenly.
One thing is for certain,
I can't go back in time.
But as long as I can remember.
I can still go back there in my mind
.
And even if I wanted to.
I can never go back home.
Because everyone I've ever loved there is long since dead and gone.
There's just no one left to find.
Even tho my memory suffers slippage,
I can still go there in my mind.
.
And it was just the other day
I thought I heard my father call my name.
I'm afraid....
I'll forget how he sounded.
Like tracing shadows in a rain.
It's been so long but now I only hear him in my dreams.
And no matter where I've been,
And no matter where I go.
I can't go home again
It's too late to pay the toll.

Looking backward to my future
I'm running out of time
I close my eyes and dream
And go there in my mind
There wasn't a thing there that I wanted
Not a thing that I could see
But every thing I'd ever need in life
Was right in front of me
And the place I thought would bring a curse to my future hopes and dreams
Has only been a blessing, to all my memories
.
I can't go home again
I can't go back in time
But as long as I can still remember
I can go there in my mind.

Life Or Death

As long as I can remember, which is about 40yrs,
I have always felt different.I have a different
outlook on how life should be.People think that
I use my mental illness as an excuse for the things
I do or how I think.I can only wish it was an excuse.
I will do anything to not have to live like I do now.
Anything includes leaving the physical world to
search for final peace, what ever that might be.I
have yet to find anything I enjoy or makes me
happy.I have lost a lot of important people that
I needed to succeed.I have lost my way and unsure
if I can find my way back.I don't trust anyone including
myself.I don't know how to express myself in the right
way so I don't get the help I need.Suicide is in my
thoughts daily. At times it consumes me.It has become
the poems I write,the music I listen to,the paper's I
read. It's everywhere.I am having dreams about driving
off a cliff only to awake just before.I don't feel like my
life is meant to be.Every road I follow leads me to a dead
end.I am only a burden.I love my kids and grandchildren
but feel I am holding them back.I do know how it feels
to lose your parents but if I stay around it will make it
harder for everyday life. It's not fair to anyone to go
through everyday being miserable. We all die someday.
I think it would be unique to die on your birthday.Mine
is coming up.I know that no one will believe it was an
accident and I am sorry.I know deep in my heart it is
better this way.Everyone tells me they just want me to
be happy.I can't seem to find happiness here.

Now I must make a final decision,

                                Life or Death.

Dear Id,

Once again, I find my mind making the same journey into your deepest ocean of questions I can never fathom. So many times I've told myself it's such a complete waste of time to even cast my cares upon your unyielding waters. I have been utterly lost for days at a time trying to find my way back through the labyrinth of my mind. The air feels heavy and breathing has nothing to do with want or desire. For as long as I can remember, my reflection has been as an ever evolving meaningless Rorschach. No identifiable constants, just a tangled mess of emotion with a gaping hole of disappointment in the life experience. I ask myself, "Is this it?" The overwhelming outpouring of human pretentiousness and superficiality leaves me dying of starvation for anything real! Will it even matter? How can I miss something I've never known and be so instinctually convinced there is more? Enlighten me!

Truly,
Frustrated and Unfulfilled

As long as I can remember
came Christmas cards in December -
my aunts back home to thank.
With best wishes at yuletide
      and always tucked away inside
                a cheque from Barclays Bank.

Looking back as I live and muse
on Boxing Day I’d gamble and lose
on some pony my bet to lay.
In the birdcage or at the tote
my losing ticket stubs in my coat
but I’d be back on Cup Day.

  Playing poker and alley pool
on our summer break before school
                  cos that’s what gamblers do.
Or with my aunt cash on my way
for a brand shiny new LP to play
off I’d go to Record Rendezvous.

And from the Sweet Briar fairy
came a birthday card in late January
just a few short weeks hence.
Which was a master stroke
for by then I was always broke
and it made all the difference.

As long as this heart of mine
hearkens a carol at Christmas time
or money to pay what I owed…
I’ll remember a season’s joy
and all the many cards as a boy
I got from Sweet Briar Road.

Meth

Its not hard to see why I need you so much
Its obvious to me why i crave your touch
When i first met you, I was untainted and free
I had no idea how to even be me
As long as I can remember I just wanted that need
The kind of love that's unstoppable, the kind that you feed
You became a part of me, the air inside my chest
You snuck into my mind and I could no longer rest
You filled me with confidence, deep in my soul
After you, there was no longer a giant hole
We became one instantly, to never be apart
I was a teen and you had stolen my heart
You made the whole world mold to my vision
How was i to know it was a head on collision?
Blindsighted, you tricked me with your lies
You sold me happiness but what i got was cries
It wasn't long before you demanded all of my time
You began to consume me, forced me to crime
Ill never forget the day I realized you had changed
You no longer filled my soul, you just rearranged
Your grasp was so tight I couldn't let go
So once again,I fell deeper, to our all time low
You gave me a way to get back to that high
All i had to do was tie off and try
It was like the beginning but it didn't last long
I had found an answer, but the answer was wrong
Thats when it happened, you slowly took it all
Any piece that was left of me, away it would fall
Your love turned into a controlling mess
Where you used to give me more, i now had less
You took my smiles and replaced them with fear
You had my life, i could no longer steer
People left my side because you were there
They disappeared, they no longer cared
Alone i was reaching out and there was only you
So once again, you had to pull me through
Further and further i fell inside myself to die
It was so dark i could barely even try
The weight holding me down was what pulled me thru
How could i ever live without you?
Desperation wasn't enough. I now had a need
You tangled yourself in me like some sort of weed

Counting Stars

One flew across the sky
But died soon after
Others beamed with the moon
in some concerted laughter

I've been counting stars
For as long as I can remember
Those whose brilliance fell
Those that shone there on after

I've been counting stars
Much like they held my dreams
The possibilities in that beaming gas
I'll be counting til my star drops

I've been counting for millions
Millions have been lost
( They flashed and fell)
I'll keep counting
Til my star drops.

One flew across the sky
It dropped and died
My stars is still in the sky
I'll keep counting stars
Til my star drops.

Premium Member March Madness

For as long as I can remember, I have always liked basketball. I even made the team when I was in the 8th grade and rather small.

Why, I liked the NBA until there were too many games and the competition disappeared. Perhaps I'd love it again if fewer teams made the playoffs and
unpredictability reappeared. Until then, I'll enjoy the college kids of the
NCAA and the fever known as March Madness. Whether your team is
seeded number 16 or number 1, you've got one shot to be the best. One
team matched against another and it's 'One and done', or lose just one and
go home. Or, you can keep winning and climb the ladder to cut the net for yourself and your team alone.

You could even reach The Final Four as an eleven seed, which is why March Madness is a thrill. And your name does not have to be Duke, Kentucky, or North Carolina to be still playing in April.

Joojoo Voodoo Child

For as long as I can remember
Me madda was de head voodoo club member
She taught me how to make love potion
To mess with der woman emotion

From me teet and ‘er underwear
Put a drop a me sista’s joojoo
Me perform de dance from de club voodoo

Throw in me madda’s secret potion
And give me girl as a hand and face lotion
For a year everyting sweet
Me girl an animal love treat

Until one day I notice de hair
Growing on her hands and ‘er face
De one me puck from me teet and her underwear
She look like she not from de human race

She want me twenty five times a day, me sore
Each day me see her she look more like a monkey

O’ Madda your potion no work, why you lie?
Your son he been abused, he sore and he cry
Dis woman ruin your son life
He wake up to find she is his wife…

The Forlorn Plain Girl

For as long as I can remember,
I've always felt plain.
I’m sure I’m not being a lunatic.
“Plain” is not just an assumed name,
It was young, and had grew.
Contrary to morning leave dews,
Unfortunately it never went away.

To its stint I've always felt an easy prey.
I really tried to fudge it many times
By pretending like it’s not there,
But public remarks and their glare,
I mean that painful judgmental stare,
Has always bought me back to its confines.

They have gone by, the feeling’s formative years,
Sadly though the bitter I shed my tears.
Not that I wasn't aware, but when I was small,
To this issue I didn't feel anything of a thrall.
It did at times flood me with sad feelings,
And my mind just labeled it unappealing.
However, I guess then I had no extreme sensitivities,
Because I just was obscured by typical child activities.
But then as I grew, its smears were rapturing my patience
I felt unworthy to be loved and cared for.
It was a real war, and I was the prisoner of the war!
I don’t know it was just something bitter.
It piled up, a gross and smelly soul litter!

However, I thought, I don’t have to calamine my identity,
Neither be camouflaged in my reality
Although set amid negative inferiority imposed thoughts.
I choose to be grateful, not because I have all
But because of all that I have. When you are grateful
Complaints disappear as the oasis of serenity grows in your heart.
I find a peace filled heart as an alluring work of art!
