Once Upon a Time (Templates)

Once upon a time
a lonely girl neglected
worked among the cinders,
then with a pumpkin changed
and danced all night, the beauty of the ball.

A beast became a prince.
A fair one, raven-haired,
bit into an apple,
then lay inside a coffin
to waken later with a single kiss.

Plots of sugar spun
meant for our amusement
were taken as didactic;
as visions of a bliss;
for some, like me, as templates for romance.

A frog is still a frog.
A girl who is mistreated
might end up on the streets.
Transformed into a junkie,
she turns into a hooker for her john.

A beast remains a beast.
A girl might pose as blonde
and taste of life’s enticements;
then settle on one lover,
to languorously waken to her dawns.

Modern human tales
scatter my illusions.
As skin neath eyes start sagging,
can hope remain unflagging
as time so quickly leaves us all undone?

Veiled

“The Ego is a veil between humans and God.” ~ Rumi

I reached out
lifted the veil
and saw to my amazement...
I am He
He is I
Together, we are one!

To us belong
the heavens and the earth,
we summon the sun to rise,
At our behest it retreats.

We gallop with the wild winds
and loiter around with the lazy breeze,
With the sprightly stream we wander
through dales and valleys
and lay languorously
like a calm placid lake
under an autumnal sun
oh, in some remote cove.

My thoughts are mine,
I alone think my thoughts,
I share them with Him at will.

I am one with
the supreme consciousness,
I am the center of the universe--
The eternal soul.

I Am the One

I am the center of the universe
The eternal soul,
I am the supreme consciousness
I am He
He is I,
Together, we are one.

To me belong
the heavens and the earth;
I summon the sun to rise,
At my behest it retreats.

None there is like me
The life I live is mine
Mine is the time to spend and
I squander my moments at whim.

I alone think my thoughts
My thoughts are mine,
I share them at will.

I gallop with the wayward wind
and loiter around with the lazy breeze,
With the sprightly stream
I meander through dales and valleys,
Like a calm placid lake I lounge
languorously in some yonder cove.

Oh, my soul is a wanderer
I yearn to fly high and soar the heavens,
The ability to see beauty in everything
is to know what love is.

Will You Be My Tomorrow

Will you be my tomorrow?
When the sun creeps languorously
Red and purple swirls,
golden tentacles stretching,
stretching to embrace the spreading wings of birds aflutter
as they draw towards those very life giving limbs as they
burst through the skies vividly
To and fro they dart
a choir of beautiful solo proclamations disjointed yet unified

Great trunks sturdy
lifting greens higher,
higher to drink of that potion
Buds, slowly they unfurl giving way to dainty leaves
How carefully they are veined, their sustainance obtained
Leaning blades they weep as they witness
the beauty of my tomorrow, today

Will you be my tomorrow?
Vicious winds howling
Oranges, browns swirling
like dancers they flutter to the ground
Soft blanket of fallen pieces carefully laid
disrobed from gnarly fingers striving,
yes striving for perseverance

Garbled birdsong , hunched wings
as they retreat into cocoons of their creation
woven and threaded pecked and mud slung
perfect in their complexity,
beautiful in simplicity
See where there is stunting, blades no longer lush but
trodden to bareness beneath the carpet of debris that paves a way for regrowth

tomorrow...
but what about today?

Sweet Sweat

In the heat of winter one dreary night
A storm was eager to show its might,
The temperature was frigid outside
Yet it was hot and steamy inside,
Lying languorously I saw her
on a recliner of white satin and fur,
Dressed as the day she was born,
Slick as a snake, glowing like neon
with sweat beads on her bosom and brows
I smothered her with kisses, high and low.

She tasted salty with sighs and moans
So I added some honey with my groans,
Like a landscape with peaks and valleys,
She had lava fields and hot spring galleys!

Was it a union of, ha! Sweet sudation,
Sedition in lovemaking and seduction
Or a wistfully amorous imagination?

Sultry Summer Sojourn

Curling crests cassessing coastlines
backwash bumping beach breakers.
screeching Seagulls squark and scream
mocking maritime merrymakers.

Burning boogers brave blisterd backs
scorched surfers seek shoreline shade,
urbane under umpteen umberellas,
peacocks posed in a parasol parade.

Drifting dunes delight deserted
lovers, languorously lounging, lazily
craving comfort, coveting cool currents.
Hellishly humid, heat hovers hazily.

Spirited siblings, spades spanking
bucket bottoms, bulid
carefully carved chimerical castles,
infantile fantasies fulfilled.

Exposing exiled exoskeletons
turning tide tickles toes,
sun sinks slowly seaward
disclosing dusk's descending doze.

Make Me Happy

Give me all the riches
of the world and I’ll be happy,
I’ll be happy if you get me
all the comfort and luxury,

Happier still I would be if you
give me a flower-bedecked bed
to while away my days in the
company of a damsel instead;
Or,
Look in my eyes with love,
Holding my hand lead me
under a gentle sky
To the cool shades of a tree
swaying with the wind playfully
by a river flowing languorously,
Where the weary birds at dusk
come to roost--
And I’ll be as happy as a man can be!

I languorously love how lilacs smell,
For aromatic coffee beans I fell,
Sultry perfume stirs senses deep within,
My palate’s hooked on Indian Cuisine.

Exotic spice and flavors stir me, yet
The most compelling I cannot forget -
Once caught, I got addicted and enslaved -
Your fragrant pheromones’ sweet scent I crave.

My Muse Erato

Whenever a Melancholy Moon,
Radiantly brimful, looms low,
And gilds the tops of the trees,
The hills, the flowing streams,
and languorously reclining lakes,
My Muse appears to me
from nowhere like a dream,
Like a flash of inspiration
to a muddled mind.

She glides towards me like
an elusive wreath of smoke
And gathers me in her
delicate arms like a silken robe,
Hovering around me
like the perfume of roses.

She appears as an inspiring
source of fantasy and vision,
Like the magnificent Northern lights
displaying kaleidoscopic draperies
in the polar nights,
Like the spectacular rainbow burst
after an intense shower,
Like a shooting star,
Like a blessed apparition.

I take her gently, gratefully,
in an ethereal embrace,
As you would take
honey from a beehive!

I nurtured plans to explore foreign lands,
But haven’t found the time to get there yet.
Under COVID unprecedented threat,
I wish I’d gone, not languorously planned.

“You snooze, you lose”, they say, so I have missed
The wonders of the world I read about.
For now, to get together with my “crowd” -
First wish on my extended bucket list.

I Love You

Magnitude, the depth of sleeping oceans
where bright eyed creatures, unseen by
man, prisoners of prehistory,
denizens of deep emotions,
swim a primeval mystery
unsolved and undefined.

Sometimes they caper crazed and blind,
lashing with trident tongues or
languorously wrapping suckered limbs,
engulfing the nerves, the much maligned
attract of secret wicked things,
the smoke of silt and dread.

And still immortal words are said
to motorise the mouths and eyes of
men and women ruthlessly
at loggerheads on ocean beds,
"I love you" spoken ceaselessly
in the timeless seas of time.

Happy

“My love you make me as happy and cheerful as a lark.” ~ Idlehearts

Give me all the riches
of the world and I’ll be happy,
I’ll be happy if you get me
all the comfort and luxury,
The finest food
The finest silk
The finest wine
will make me a tad bit happier;

Happiest I would still be
If you hand me scepter and crown
studded with rubies and emeralds,
And sit me on a plush throne
of silver and gold
whiling away my days in the
embrace of a lady, eager and bold;

But,
Look into my eyes with love
and holding my hand
lead me under a gentle sky
to the cool shades of a tree
swaying with the wind playfully
by the river flowing languorously
where the weary birds at dusk come to roost—
And I’ll be as happy as a lark!

Heaven

“Heaven on Earth is a choice you must make, not a place you must find.”
                                                                             ~ Wayne W. Dyer

In this enlivening radiance of the rising sun
as a whimsical wind sweeps down
over the sun-dappled trail
it arouses the drooping grass,
weighed down by the morning mist,
to sway back with the heavenly grace
dancing delightfully in the soft breeze;

And the nightly bands of grim shadows
disappear
as the sun rises languorously over
the valleys, dales and the rolling plains.

The day brightens up refreshed
and rejuvenated by the caressing
warmth of the sunbeams….

Lo, this is my home
     wherein my heaven dwells!

Moonlight Mojo

At the time of ethereal elegance of twilight,
Whenever a voluptuous moon
lolls low on a silvery serene sea
and gilds the canopy of trees,
the hilltops, the meandering streams
and the languorously reclining lakes.

My muse appears to me
from nowhere like a dream,
Like a flash of inspiration
to a muddled mind and
evokes moods of mystical ecstasy.

She glides gracefully towards me
like an elusive wreath of smoke
and gathers me in her embrace
like a silken robe
hovering around me
like a whiff of fragrance.

She appears as a stirring
source of fantasy and vision,
Like the magnificent Northern lights
displaying luminous draperies
on a star-spangled polar nights,
Like a spectacular rainbow burst
after an intense shower
Like a shooting star
Like a blessed apparition;

I take her, as one would,
a reluctant bride
with gentle persuasion
and resilient arms.
