Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you're drunk. Picture Quote #1Be thankful for what you have. Your life, no matter how bad you think it is, is someone else's fairy tale Picture Quote #1

The UPSIDE: I'm intelligent!!

Once Upon a Time (Templates) Once upon a time a lonely girl neglected worked among the cinders, then with a pumpkin changed and danced all night, the beauty of the ball. A beast became a prince. A fair one, raven-haired, bit into an apple, then lay inside a coffin to waken later with a single kiss. Plots of sugar spun meant for our amusement were taken as didactic; as visions of a bliss; for some, like me, as templates for romance. A frog is still a frog. A girl who is mistreated might end up on the streets. Transformed into a junkie, she turns into a hooker for her john. A beast remains a beast. A girl might pose as blonde and taste of life’s enticements; then settle on one lover, to languorously waken to her dawns. Modern human tales scatter my illusions. As skin neath eyes start sagging, can hope remain unflagging as time so quickly leaves us all undone? Feb. 2, 2017 Sorry to take it to a darker place, Eve. That was how the theme inspired me

Fairytales and stark reality is what our life is based on. Let's enjoy one and learn to face the other! // paul

I think the darker place comparison was beautifully and fittingly woven. I have not read the contest details so I'm at a bit of a loss, but still enjoyed the write and the points all so poetically made. I was entertained and a bit captivated when things got dark. Hugs ... CayCay

Love your darker side Andrea, but some of us need to believe in fairy tales. It's how we make it through the day. I say this knowing how dark I can be.

I think I'd call this a fractured fairy tale and I mean that in a good way. This was dark but if you look, most fairy tales do have an element of darkness to them, you just have carried it through to the end and done so nicely. Good luck in the contest.

Wow, Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping beauty all rolled into one magical poem. I love how you said a frog is still a frog. I felt like you were talking directly to me when the "eyes start sagging." I happen to know that my Dad was still in the mood for love in his 90s. "There may be snow on the roof, but the fire's still going." Enjoyed very much! Hugs, Carolyn

We are lucky if we meet just one "prince" in a lifetime. Even when we do, life's no fairy tale :)

Yes, fairy tales are great when one is a child! I know a ten-year-old who still believes in Santa! It's so cute! Love your work, Andrea!
